It's a module -- a relatively small set of areas with some adventures in them. It's also basically very similar to STO's rep system, which requires daily quests (and the tokens from them) plus other items purchased with currency to be "contributed" in order to unlock tiers, which give access to gear upgrades and passive boons. It's basically the same thing, tailored to a fantasy MMO. It's not new for Cryptic. It baffles me that people are surprised by this.
Don't be silly. If you got lucky with the Nightmare exploit, you're pretty much going to be set on AD for the rest of this game's lifespan.
Also, you might check the prices for t2 helms on the AH. You can run a Spellplague during any hour of the day - not just DD bonus - to get a chance at an extremely valuable piece of equipment to sell. More valuable even that it was before the patch.
I do wish I got in on that Nightmare exploit. Well I guess I can go run some dungeons for a 1:20 chance at a 1:5 roll. Oh wait, I'm probably not the right class.

I think part of what he was saying is that the unbound gear that you used to be able to sell on the AH got you refined AD, whereas salvaging gear is unrefined... so no way of quickly maxing out.
Admittedly, that is very clever on the devs part, as it limits the introduction of new ADs into the game.

Right, it's a real hard clamp on the AD supply through gaming. And it's understandable why that won't be popular, especially when a small but not insignificant number of players just became multi millionaires if not billionaires yesterday.

Umm, you do realise that AD on the exchange isn't just introduced into the game and that the exchange actually removes AD from the game right?

That isn't the case at all. Let's say I farm/gather/refine 1000 AD. Now I go ahead and see a listing for 1 Zen per 250 AD. A person bought those Zen, and if I use the exchange, they get my AD and I get their Zen. Zero AD has been removed from the game.
The fee for listing & selling on the AH *is* removed, however.
