I get it ok. You want people to come back every day. You have a bunch of dailies and we have to pray daily to keep our coins. But the campaign system you have created unfairly disadvantages people who can't play every day. Weekend only players are screwed. it will take us months to keep up with people who can play at least an hour a day. By then the new dungeon will be for "EXP ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!" so we can't get the new items.
What is a person who plays a ton on days off but can't play every single day, other than a few minutes to login and pray supposed to do?

Clearly, you do not run Stalwart Bulwark; otherwise, you would be used to the butt love.
While leveling, did you feel the main campaign unfairly disadvantaged casuals from progression because it took longer to reach endgame for them?
Not at all. You can progress through the rest of the game at your own pace. I personally have 6 lvl 60s. Mostly done with marathon sessions on weekends. It takes about a weekend to get a toon to 60.
This new system takes control of the pace of completion out of the hands of the player. That was my point.
You realize that unlocking the Malabog castle dungeon, is right near the beginning of the campaign tree, right? I didn't bother trying, but I'm pretty sure that today (day 2), I could open it up. Definitely tomorrow.
edit: Yep, double-checked it. I could have gotten the Malabog Castle Key today, if I hadn't used the daily Vibrant Seeds to do the Plant Vibrant Seedling campaign task.
The key takes: 3 seedlings, 10 sparks, 30 moons, 5 gold, and 50k diamonds. Not hard at all.

It takes 3 days to open the castle. 2 days getting 3 seeds followed by a 16 hour wait. That means tomorrow people will have it open and farming it when weekend players START the campaign. Weekend players can't hope to actually get into the dungeon until NEXT weekend.
Not every reward is meant to equally reward all styles of play. This is simply another option. This one being a focus on duration over speed.
I see nothing wrong with having different areas that cater to different play styles. I personally dislike PvP and Gaultlegrym. But i wont begrudge those folks who enjoy it. By trying to change it to fit my own style more. Diversity is never a bad thing

Dear OP,
Find other people who are casual/weekend-ish players at the same stage as you are and arrange to run the dungeon with them, at your own pace. You are not obligated to play with hardcore grinder types.

The game is not designed around weekend players. Stop whining at the devs, it's no ones fault that you can only play 2-3 days a week but your own.

Daily quests are daily quests. That's the nature of the beast. This rewards people who like to play for an hour or so every day, which is what any daily quest system does.

A very mature response, maybe those of us who can only play those few hours is because we work, have a family, have responsibilities etc etc and we don't live in our mommy's basement (no saying you do, just making a point) without responsibi;ities just shooting the breeze.
At the start, with just the first area unlocked, the dailies don't really take that long at all.
But if you truly can't even manage to squeeze out even half an hour on some evening during the week..... not sure what to tell you. (Well, I could say that if you're playing the game under time restrictions that strong, having any expectation at all about "not falling behind the curve" is kind of unrealistic. If I could really only play on the weekend, period? I would expect that I'd be left behind. And accept it, because, well, that's life.)

Never fell behind before. If this were normal content I could log on tomorrow play until i unlocked the dungeon then farm the dungeon.
This will save me money anyway. I'll just chill out till Elder Scrolls is released.

I can understand the complaint, really, because there are weekend warriors who play mongo hours on the weekends because they work/kids/family during the week, and they can more or less keep pace. But daily quests are not designed for that, and shouldn't be -- that's the point of them --> giving players a reason to play (more than just to pray) on a daily basis, which increases their engagement. Yes, this doesn't cater to the weekend warrior players, but that's life, really. If they do it the other way, people would already be done with Feywild already.
Well, anyway. Like I said, it's the second day, and I can unlock Malabog castle if I wanted to. So, if you're playing on the weekend, you should be able to unlock it on Sunday (assuming playing both days, of course.)

Well anyway. Like I said. When you click that unlock it will take 16 hours to give you the key. So no, i can't play it on Sunday. This is basic math that I've given to you twice already.

And what game will it be when you fall behind in ESO as well and cry about it on their forums? Lmao. Good riddance less whiners for everyone to listen to. MMO's are timesinks, casuals like you are the reason the MMO industry is filled with so many simple poptart games these days, you won't be missed
P.S. Don't bother trying to validate yourself as a non-casual gamer, I won't be here and no one else cares I'm sure, bottom line you're a weekend warrior, and game devs will never cater to your needs. /done with thread

Yes, I noticed this too, but didn't want to start ridiculing vazriel, as I would have felt a bit bad about that.
Happy to agree with your Lulz comment though since I don't think vazriel really thought through the implications of his post.....

I can see it both ways. On the one hand, Cryptic has traditionally catered to the "weekend warrior" crowd. They tend to design games that are more about the journey and don't focus very much on the end game scene. In my mind, Cryptic games are MMO Lite products. Even Neverwinter fits this model. While the game does have daily praying sessions for their bonus token mechanics, it's rather easy for people to log in for just 5 minutes a day to hit a prayer key (while using the Gateway service to que up crafting tasks).
Up until this 1st mini expansion, Cryptic has still been able to cater to their core customer base. A fan of Cryptic MMOs is going to be a different demographic than people who are fans of more traditional MMOs. Yet Feywild has inherent mechanics that gate content. In a post-Feywild environment, people can't just log in once a day to pray and then indulge for many hours on the weekends. By requiring these daily reward quest tokens, Cryptic has put their traditional customer base in a bad position.
However it can also be argued that Neverwinter is trying to be something closer to a traditional MMO and less of a Cryptic MMO. I'd find that statement to be severely debatable considering the lack of endgame content and Cryptic have stated multiple times that they have no intention of creating traditional MMO raids in the near future (or ever). It would be more accurate to say that Neverwinter is trying to straddle the middle.
People who are used to more traditional MMOs will now have more things to do in Neverwinter with all of these daily quests. Even if these quests will start to be become boring in the near future, there will be solo and group content for them to participate in. It's clear that Cryptic is trying to retain this customer base since these are the people who have been leaving Neverwinter.
Cryptic is messing with their traditional customer base in an attempt to satisfy a customer base who has usually ignored their games. I personally think that this is dumb since it means that Cryptic is just participating in the usual MMO fallacies about trying to change your game in order to attract customers who you will never be able to ultimately satisfy, but that's my own opinion. It's clear that Cryptic considers their strategy to be a positive thing and I'm thinking that the Feywild content will be just the 1st wave of things to come.
(For the record, I have no issue with the fact that my not logging in every day will keep me from being on the bleeding edge of new content. However I can see how this will bother others, which is why I made this commentary post.)

The thing is this is what Cryptic did in STO as well with the rep grinds with their timers. It's not new for Cryptic, and I doubt it has anything at all to do with "who is leaving the game", because this content was designed long ago, really, long before OB start. This is more or less lifted from STO with adjustments to make it fit in a fantasy game.

Yep you are correct , I started my key today (takes 16 hours to make/craft) so 2 days of doing the dailies and a night crafting the key and you get access to the new dungeon.
i am mostly a daily player but for not more than 2 hours daily probably less, i only focus on one char since i do not have time to focus on other (work, family) on weekends i do not play that much cause i want to really enjoy the time with my familiy pretty much the same 2 hours or so, this new system give me another thing to do daily and i like it, cause i was really bored with only the daily AD, GG, a normal DD from time to time, i personally will unlck first the dungeon an dthen the boons the rest i do not care that much, you probably need to be unlocking other campain stuff in order to advance in boons and at my pace i think it will take some weeks, so i have things to for a couple of weeks asdn i am happy with it
Everything works out in the end . If it hasn't worked out yet, it isn't the end...
