Feywild is an Expansion?

I don't understand how this "module" is considered as an expansion.

- No new class
- No new paragon
- No new extensive zone where we can play around.

All we got was a new zone, with daily limitation where we can't even fully explore the whole area. (Because most people will feel that they are wasting time, might as well wait for tomorrow's daily to explore.)

And what else? they force us to go to this new zone by making passive buffs for completing daily quests. All this is nothing but throwing a zone and put bunch of needless and forceful features so players would HAVE to visit and play in the new zone.

Finished my daily in 15min and now I'm done with the expansion for now. Great.

I had high hopes for this new campaign system and the expansion, but I feel like the game is going in a different direction.

This is my personal feeling about this game, Yes I'm ranting but because I really wanted this game to succeed, and that's why i stuck around. I hope PW will pull their stuff together and keep making progress.

But this is not an expansion in my eyes.

I was a little confused at first, but I see what they are trying to accomplish here. This is a way of creating end-game content that cant be done in two days.

They are also doing something for people that like to play solo and hate PvP, GG was a pretty big disappointment to that group, but now those players got something worthwhile.
    Hoping for improvements...

Don't think it's really a expansion at all. Think it's more of a huge update, kind of like how every few months EverQuest 2, DC Universe, WoW, etc release big updates. Adds in new stuff, quests, zones, items, etc. If anything you could say it's a mini-expansion. Not all expansions add in new classes or even races, at least we got new races... normal Drow, Sun Elves and Moon Elves.

I am pretty happy with the new content. It is a nice addition IMO. I do wsh there was more to it but then again let's look a it in perspective. Compare this to other games expansions. Other games expansions usually came with a lot more content, new class, and so on. This came with a new are broken into 3 zones, a skirmish, and a dungeo aswell as a bunch of minor features. It overall lacks contet size and classes.

Other games new expansions typically come after a year of the game being in release status. Typically closer to two years. This expansion came at, let's pick open beta start date as release, about 4 or 5 months after release. I would say taking that into consideration it's pretty darn good, oh and free not a pay expansion like other games often have. Also got GG in this time too.

Bi monthly small content releases or quarterly medium sized releases seem to be kind of the trend here and I don't mind it.

ya you have a good point, and I personally love the new races. I'm just tired of PW over hyping everything and not really telling us what is really up. Like other people say, I love the solo-aspect of this new update. But binding players to the new zone, via passive buff treats, it just seems PW's another scheme to 'force' players playing.

How do you figure they didn't let us know what was up? The module has been playable on the test server for over a month. And god forbid they make content that forces/motivates players to participate! I want more content that makes me not want to play!

It's more like the good old days, sizable patches from
    + Adds new race (free)
+ Adds new endgame gear (grind unlock)
+ Adds new alternate advancement progression (with branching benefits; grind unlock)
+ Adds new multi-area zone (grind unlock each area)
    + Adds new 5-man, epic
    + Adds two professions

This update is somewhere between most MMOs big content patches and a full-fledged expansion.

I like it but I thought by new city it was going to be...new mailboxes, AH, bazaar, bank, etc..A whole new city. Not a new zone. Its fun and all but not quite what I expected. The entering part was very cool. Very Fantasy.:o

Cyptic tends to focus on smaller expansions or updates, but more frequently. Its fairly typical for them to do 3 major updates per year. Rather then a more traditional expansion every other year.

I'm happy with the scope of expansion, assuming there is a reasonably steady stream of production. And they've already added stuff between release and the expansion -- so it's... fairly fluid.

I'm not HAPPY with several aspects of the Feywild expansion, but the size/extent isn't one of my complaints.
    Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH

Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?

Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?

Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?

All in all its a fairly large update by cryptic standards. This is a far bigger deal then say COs initial adventure packs. Or STOs featured episodes. Those where both fun, but where pretty much stand alone canned missions or short campaigns. Feywild, is much larger in both scale and scope.

It seems a nice middle ground between those while not being as large in scope as full on expansions like Vibora bay or Legacy of Romulous.

Did the game not "EXPAND" the content available? I'm not sure what your problem is.

I'm kind of torn regarding the new content. I like that they've added new, repeatable content, but I tend to like to power through the new stuff initially, then take my time exploring after.

The artificial limit on how quickly you can do the content, plus the requirement to spend gold and ADs to advance, puts a hamper on the enjoyment.

I can digest spending ADs or gold on an actual item for my characters, but so far the drops have been underwhelming.

Still, it's something new to do, and for that I'm thankful.

One thing that kinda irked me is that if I didn't know from the various forum/website stuff, I'd be unaware of how to actually access the new content. I'm surprised that the game didn't automatically add the quest to talk to the envoy when I initially logged in...

One thing to note, to people who expected that Sharandar would contain things like mailboxes, the AH and bankers, the Feywild is on a different material plane, to the world that we are used to, so, unless they come up with a trans-dimensional postal service, those things would have no use. Which I agree, is a shame, but oh well.

There is a degree of suspension of disbelief that needs to be accepted in favor of playability. I can still *read* my mail from anywhere in the game... whether it's Sharandar, the shadow realm in that part of Neverdeath Graveyard, or even all the way down in the chasm... so there's no reason they couldn't have added those conveniences...

As soon as I got into the new zone and realized I was limited to less than one square mile I have but one point to make...

    To cite wikipedial; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plane_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons)#The_Feywild
    The Feywild
One of the two parallel planes, the Feywild is a more extreme and magical reflection of the world with some thematic links to the Positive Energy Plane and the Plane of Faerie of earlier editions and settings. Creatures native to or connected with the Feywild generally have the fey origin. According to the 4th edition Manual of the Planes, this plane has some sort of unspecified connection to Arvandor, and is suspected that the Dominion of Corellon can be reached by here. Important locales within the Feywild are known as Fey Demesnes.

    Locations within the Feywild
    Astrazalian, the City of Starlight
    Brokenstone Vale
    Cendriane
The Feydark (Underdark of the Feywild)
    Harrowhame
    The Isle of Dread
    Mag Tureah
    Maze of Fathaghn
    Mithrendain, the Autumn City
    The Murkendraw
    Nachtur, the Goblin Kingdom
    Senaliesse
    Shinaelestra, the Fading City
    Vor Thomil

So yeah. What we got is definitely not an expansion. What we got is a cash grab attempt at a so called "D&D game."

It's hard to call it a cash grab when it's free.
    The expansion looks pretty good.

Too bad I haven't really had the inclination to log in after launch day issues.

A more appropriate term might be "high level resource sink".

It's free? Well then I guess they just made it expecting to make no money in return right? I'm sure all those people who preordered the Knight of the Feywild pack and were let down agree with you. I hear some people are still out on the 600k that was advertised to come with it too.

Better just buy some more zen. You'll need it for those keys. Oh wait, I missed that event.

I think we all know the F2P model isn't free by now. It's a late summer cash grab and you know it.

It's true that it introduced a number of AD sinks to the progression, but I found the expenses to be largely nominal, especially considering the benefits gained. I think that the last tier of the Boons gained from the campaign tracker will change PvP in a huge way by adding a LOT of survivability to every class. It might also trivialize much of the PvE content.

These AD sinks, for the majority of players who have been here for some time, can really be brushed off. I'll make enough to buy the 10k key from a single pull of a single character in Leadership professions. Players new to 60 may struggle more, although with the new Dailies that award double diamonds, I can't see how saving up increments of AD will be so difficult as to be the halting factor in their campaign progression.

There are problems with the expansion, to be sure, but I don't think the tiered, one time AD entrance fee is one of them.

For myself I'm quite glad the expansion was free. I could afford it at the time, and was happy to purchase it, not having been able to afford a Founder's Pack. I'm extremely glad that my friends who could not afford to buy the expansion will be able to play the content with me.

I don't regret buying the expansion. I do, however, regret every single purchase of Enchanted Keys I've ever made. I don't think I'll ever buy another one again. For reasons having nothing to do at all with the expansion mechanics, I'm seriously reconsidering my investment of time and money in this game.

The 5K and 1G per key can add up very quickly if you want to actually replay the instances (and get the chest). The boss at the end does not appear to drop epic gear, so there's that.

I will say that I've had mixed results with the salvage vendor - items which used to sell for a lot of AD are now bound, while others that aren't bound salvage for more than they would sell for on the AH.

Either way whereas you used to be able to make hundreds in a day, now you have a strict limit of 24k.

    Unless you buy zen.

It sure is free to play.

Don't be silly. If you got lucky with the Nightmare exploit, you're pretty much going to be set on AD for the rest of this game's lifespan.

Also, you might check the prices for t2 helms on the AH. You can run a Spellplague during any hour of the day - not just DD bonus - to get a chance at an extremely valuable piece of equipment to sell. More valuable even that it was before the patch.
