I don't like these at all. I tend to dc a lot, because something up is with the servers and my client. I do not want to lose the things I worked hard for because the server system failed me.
And sometimes there is a perfectly good reason to leave a match. A very big reason being bots. I do not want to help a bot win a match nor do I want to play on a team where a bot holds the entire team back.
Working as intended.

You know how many times I crash to desktop because Cryptic sucks? Besides form a pre-made and you wont have that issue.
All people will do is go up top and not do anything and get glory so letting them leave is better

The game is already punishing the players for even playing it ( look in the nerfbat section lol ) , not even this but you want now to punish legit players for leaving a 4x bot teams ? Give me a break . First P2W i mean ops PWE , must fix their bot problem and then maybe just maybe fix their enchants when it comes to PvP AND THEN MAYBE introduce a pvp penalty .

The reasons that people are leaving need to be fixed first!
The reasons that people are leaving need to be fixed first!
Your logic is ridiculously faulty here is why.
Just a few of the reasons for people leaving:
Check team gear-if low leave
Player runs to mid while 4 others go close base- leave
Player is cleric and doesn't get HAMSTER licked by team- leave
Player doesn't like name of someone on team- leave
Player feels like trolling rest of team- leave
Player gets phone call- leave
Player gets killed a few times- leave
Player thinks team is not doing what they should- leave
Rogue is on enemy team- leave
Looks like team might lose- leave
Not getting top place-leave
One player leaves so now it is 4/5- leave
This turns into 3/5 so leave etc
There is a reason why most other mmos with structured pvp have either a leavers penalty or a rebalancing system. If you have a brain that reason should be crystal clear.

You forgot the most obvious one:
team is getting stomped by a premade and can't get even 500 points (so no reward for your time whatsoever) - leave
^^
this above all else encourages players to leave. Why stay if you get no reward because the enemy team is a premade that is geared in top gear/enchants? It's just a painful experience for no reward.

you still get credit toward the daily no? Honor is pretty worthless anyway. I have left a PvP match one time, and that was to join a different guild vs guild pvp match lol.
Yes a penalty is needed, but before that ranking is needed.
So here goes, this solves all PvP problems:
1. Matching based on GS, GS is rechecked at the time of clicking accept and is locked after that point.
2. Once 1 is implemented, penalty for leaving, strict enough that it deters you from leaving but not so terrible that someone who accidentaly dc'd is overly punished. Maybe -1 to your daily count and 15-30 minutes until you can requeu.
3. Throw players out of spawn after ~40 seconds camping there. Once everything is balanced there is no excuse to sit in base and do nothing right?
4. With all these fixes everyone can recieve glory even if you are below 300 points, that way facing a premade isn't so bad. Yes you lose by a lot but you still get full rewards and your daily.
Boom PvP fixed. Fun for everyone. If you are one of those that quit any time a challenge arises then boohoo for you, you can just not get credit for a pvp daily that you don't deserve anyway if that's your attitude.
Also better items from glory would be very nice as glory cap comes pretty fast

But that's life.. oh wait this is a game, it should be easy, right?
It shouldn't be easy, but it should be fun. Quitters ruin the game for the side they leave and for their opponents. I find that being on the side with 5 players is just as boring as being on the losing side. Hanging around with all 3 points capped for your score to finally hit 1000 is tedious as heck.
d/c s do happen, but they seem to happen a lot more in PvP when someone is losing than they do in dungeon delves for example...
A 30 min timeout from joining any other PvP would be good enough I think. As has been pointed out, more effort needs to be made in matching the teams tho. Getting rolfstomped sucks.

time penalty would be great solution.. if u left u cant play another 10 or 20 or 30 min... i understand ppl have problem about disconection or game crashing, but those just have to be patience...
and yeas.. pvp rally become imposible to play cuz of "no honor" quiters (and number is huge... about 60-80% of games have quiters.. even in 1 minute of playing...
something have to be done about it.. thats for sure...
Adding a penalty for leaving will solve absolutely NOTHING.
Players are going to leave even if you put in a 2 hour time penalty. It will solve nothing at all. Ive even seen players leave even when the team they are on is winning.
When somebody on your team leaves, leave with them and re-queue and hope you don't get another leaver.
no offence, but this is stupidest solution i heard so far... goal is to make ppl NOT leave... today i played about 10 matches and finish 2 of them... i mean u are obviesly quiter with that kind of opinion ( no offence again)... but quiter must be stop quiting the match... this is PVP.. sometimes u win, sometimes i lose.. enjoing game no metter of result... have some pride and most of all honor and respect for other team... it calls FAIR PLAY.. let me tell u like this... u watching football game/soccer game.. and team get score 2 goals in 10 minutes... losing side of course lose moral.. but still running 90 minutes on terein and trying to do something.. and least to lose with less possible scores on their side.. it calls FAIR play.. is it really so hard to understand!!!!!!!!
no surender.. surenders are coward and they dont think about other team mates that want to give they best to lose with less possible score... sometimes u win.. sometimes u lose.. but have some dignity and shake hand with winner side at the end of match.. again... it cals FAIRPLAY...
somwtimes i wish this game fobiden playing under age of 30... i know i would enjoy much more playing without kids (dont get me wrong.. i love kids)
and at the end, i hughly appologive that frustration take most of me... but i cant express my feeling with words about how im frusrate when ppl leave match...

That is just one reason out of many, and while it may be the prime excuse for you quitting and leaving the rest of your team in the lurch, there are any number of excuses for leaving because there is no consequence for leaving- in fact leaving is more often than not the most logical choice. That is a sad state for a game to be in.
But that's life.. oh wait this is a game, it should be easy, right?
But this IS a game I have no NEED to play any game, except to enjoy myself. If game doesn't entertain find a different game or change the one u are playing.
I don't know about WOW, but Dota 2 and CS GO, they punish people that leave the game. You need to wait 30 minutes to play again in the CS GO and you can lose patent. When someone leaves the game, the bot come in their spot. The developers can take ideas from this to put in the PVP.
I have no problem with people leaving. It annoyed me at first, then I ran across the premades. People geared up ridiculously high just for pvp. Let's be honest pvp here just isn't that fun. it's repetitive drawn out and mismatched most of the time. I, like many players are only playing for the daily. that's why i will leave if i see a premade, won't even stick around to see if they are any good. I'll leave if i don't think i can get a 2 credit for my daily, I don't care if team wins or loses I want the 2 credit. Heck, i'll leave if i think i might sneeze in the next 15 mins. Now when a match is evenly matched I do find it moderately enjoyable and am happy to play, as long as I only have to play twice to get my daily.
I will happily continue to leave until pvp is fixed. tier it for hardcore, casual. end of story that is the fix.
I'll keep leaving the match, even if the developers put penalties. I don't like to be farmed during 15 minutes because other team is a premade and all of them have 6 tenebrous and two perma stealth rogues.

This is exactly why players should have to win the match to get credit for the daily.

It's funny you keep bringing up the two credit as your incentive to stay or leave. But I have done a LOT of pvp and noticed that there are times when I lose a match and get 2 credit towards the daily. I have NEVER left a match unless I am in a premade and the stupid queue bug neglects to zone in a member of my premade. If I am pugging pvp matches I never leave even if I am the last member of my team. It never fails that I can go out solo and pick off solo wanderers to slaughter. I find this fun and a challenge because I never know if I am gunna get HAMSTER or assassinate an unsuspecting target.
Anyways I don't even care about wins or losses, I am there to challenge myself, get more experience and find ways to adapt to every class. The more experience the better I get and experience all the different nuances in build types and player styles. I can almost predict how certain classes will respond to my attacks, my movements and my feints. I think those who leave matches have their reasons but I think they only cheat themselves if they are only looking for a winning team to carry them to a daily.
I'll keep leaving the match, even if the developers put penalties. I don't like to be farmed during 15 minutes because other team is a premade and all of them have 6 tenebrous and two perma stealth rogues.
Yeah once they have gs matching I hope the penalty is 1 hour injury that is not curable that reduces combat effectiveness by 50%.
Ever heard of learning to play your class? Most premade's will do 1v1's unless they are jerks. I have been on the losing end vs. a premade many times and I simply 1v1 as many as I can to learn how to counter the different classes and builds better.
Guild Master of <Enemy Team>
We are definitely dominating, and we are always about to win.
Most people leave because they encounter P2W teams with perfect enchants and there's absolutely no point in fighting after you get one shot 4-5 times in a row with decent gear.
It's up to PW to create ladders and matchmaking systems, so people play against similarly geared opponents and advance to upper echelons in time.
Most people leave because there is no disincentive not to, and when they get butt-hurt which is bound to happen as the very nature of pvp is that you are going to get your HAMSTER handed to you from time to time, it is all to easy to leave and in fact its often the most logical thing to do in the current setup.
Btw what other mmos have a gear-score based sorting system that pits toons with similar gear score against each other? Even WoW which has an enormous player base doesn't do that in their BGs.

I don't know of another mmo with a gear-score based system. I thought there were some however which have a pvp ranking system and that is used to generate matches - although it's been a while since I was interested in mmos so maybe I'm imagining that - happy to be corrected.
What I do know is that the discrepancy between gear setups at 60 in this game is enormous. There is an almost perfect equipment (and for most classes character) build for pvp in this game, and if you're up against it you will almost always get curb stomped. And we all know what it is. It also happens to be a very expensive build in terms of real dollars, exploit usage, or serious grind time. And if I see it - I have no problems just leaving the match. I'm not rewarding anybody - player or pwe for the hideous results of that unbalancing cash grab.
*insert usual arguments* - "but it's not a good build for pve": don't care. "but I earned/bought those enchants legitimately": don't care. "but perfect AP enchants are just as good": don't care, wrong, and the means of obtaining these is also a symptom of the cash grab. "L2P": always, but it still needs to be fun.
time penalty would be enough... 15 min, or 30 min cant enter pvp... of course if there a crashings, like some ppl said, that penalty wouldnt work.. my game never crashed btw...
anyway.. like i said many times.. quiters are ppl that have no respect for other players... mostly kids that didnt develop sense of morality and fairplay yet
quiters are ppl that have no respect for other players... mostly kids that didnt develop sense of morality and fairplay yet
You think it's noble to disrespect someone with your purchased gear like many founders do? Those pathetic people, who haven't earned anything, but went for it the easiest and lamest way - buy everything? And added to it they get stuff regular "mortals" cannot have that gives them huge advantage in battle over others? That fair? O'rly.
So much for your sense of morality and fair play.
When they start using stuff everybody else can have and show some real skill, then we can talk about fair play.
Before you judge someone have a look at it from their perspective, why do they leave. Reason #1: they are frustrated, because in the world of man it's typical that there is no balance, it's like black and white, huge contrast, that regardless how good you may be, when someone is geared up like a super tank, you barely scratch them, it's natural for them to leave when they see they don't stand a chance, hence I support the idea of match-making (equal/similar GS).
Don't look at it from the perspective "what other games have". Who cares. If you go for what other games have, what difference between this game and their game there is?
Reason #2: games are meant to be fun, you don't log into a game to feel even worse than your overall day may have been.

The matchmaking doesn't really have to be relying on GS (although this is clearly an alternative). With ladders, people with very good gear will automatically ascend to good rating, so they will end up against each other very soon. I've played against some of these perfect enchants guys, and at 9300 GS I could hardly make a dent, so even if they are HAMSTER they could beat up people like me, regardless of skill.
As for WoW's BGs, they are basically raid vs raid, with MANY people. 5 people is a small party when each member counts. Things change in 10+ vs 10+ people, where there's a big probability the system picks bads and pros altogether.

It's a drag to have players leave but it's also a drag to get stomped by a player geared and exchanted to the teeth.
A timed lockout would be sufficient, I think, as far as a penalty goes, but not until the scenarios are balanced for gear.
Further, upon accepting a pop, gear should become locked. Avoid the obvious folks who would game the system.
