European Guild

Introduction

Opus Dei is a different RP-PvP-PvE guild founded by a few real life friends who happen to be experienced MMO veterans (from a variety of games such as WoW, Lineage, Age of Conan, Guild Wars, Eve) and old D&D/AD&D fans (from the 90s pen and paper glorious era).
We are in our mid 30s with real life obligations but retain and share the same passion for online gaming (especially quality MMOs) we had back in the day.

We are different in that we recruit people not characters and treat everyone as a person and not a number! We are a fairly democratic guild with divided authority and always seeking charismatic and devoted officers (whether experienced or not). We are also different in that we say no cheating and we mean it (no trash mob/boss skips, no shortcuts that 'utilize' the environment, no mass throwing of mobs off ledges, no early 2x AS from 2 DCs resulting in 'legit imba kills' etc).

We are recruiting European players of all ages and level 50+ at the moment (lvl 60s preferred) or any player who can fit into our usual playtimes/timezone and aim to 'farm' all current and future end-game content. The guild is not biased towards either casual or hardcore, small or large (medium sized atm). We do prefer however quality over quantity, therefore accepting only exceptional applicants (see checklist below).

Guild bank (3 repositories), RaidCall and website are in place (site is a work in progress).

Concept and Storyline

Opus Dei is an ancient semi-secret order recently resurrected that aims to protect and enforce the will of all non-evil gods and deities in Faerun (and even beyond). OpusDei accepts everyone in their ranks as initiates, especially peasants and simple folk. Talented and exceptional initiates progress through the ranks as their superiors see fit. Occasionally the order will work for a third party or individual, thus becoming a sort of a mercenary contractor.
With the recent discovery of Gauntlgrym, Opus Dei has pledged allegiance to the Delzoun Dwarves and actively seeking alliances of like minded Delzoun Guilds to battle the evil of the accursed Luskan dogs and beyond...

The following is a summary-checklist explaining what kind of people could possibly fit into our guild, in order to save everyone's time.

[*]D&D/AD&D (also spellfire, magic) pen and paper fans and RPG fans in general.
[*]Active players, preferably playing on a daily basis, 20+ hours per week.
[*]Good class build with clear understanding of your class role and descent gear (previous MMO experience prefered).
[*]Experienced and dedicated Foundry authors (even without previous MMO experience).
[*]People who want to experience everything Neverwinter has to offer (PvE, PvP, RP content).
[*]Laid back -but not lazy- players who enjoy immersion in a quality MMORPG and play for fun, not loot (we don't like loot whorring).

NB: this list is not by any means complete or detailed and does not guarantee guild admission, should you feel you fit with all the above points. Each person is treated with respect on a 'face-to-face' basis and evaluated as objectively as possible, so you should be prepared to answer a few more questions in-game (or via forum PM) if you apply to join us.

We had a lot of enquiries the last few days, so I want to make some things clear with this update...

*We are not a multi-game online community or plan to become a large 300+ member guild with less than 10% of members online. This is a -so far- small but active guild.
*We do not have /will not have a premade guild application online with lots of questions that make us look good. This is a very lazy and inefficient way to recruit members. We prefer to evaluate each case separately with respect and look for the person behind the character, rather than the class/gear etc.
*You won't see us spam Zone chat with guild recruitment ads either.
*We don't have a trial period of weeks or months like some guilds do. You are either in or out. However we do expect every applicant to think likewise and not treat us like a trial guild (joining only for a test drive).
*All the information contained in this thread and a detailed in-game discussion should be enough for any serious applicant to decide if they like our guild or not and if they want to join.

We are still looking for active players, especially experienced officers from past mainstream MMO guilds.
If you are a legit player from Europe and have done a lot of 'guild shopping', but got tired of american guilds with big rosters but hardly anyone online at your usual playtimes, then we might be the guild for you.

Ok so you're telling me that noone in the guild has 2/2 CN weapon set and ancient rings ? If that's the case I might apply , if not no thanks don't wanna be in yet another guild that is a complete PuG of exploiters that use the gchat for trade chat and would not take you to any dungeon if you're not 12k cn set / anc jewelry .

Opus Dei has a zero tolerance for exploiting and cheating of any form, whether banable by Cryptic or not.
Cheating is for newbies and we like to think we are not newbies, but gamers of character.
As for gear, most people are not 12K+ GS yet, since they started playing NW recently. Myself, I sit at around 11.3K with full ancient rings and amulet (no t2 weapon though) and I have most GWF sets in game (3 full, rest partial) all legit.
Not that hard to get, since I play from day 1 of open beta and AH/gold prices for epics were really low back then, so I bought quite a few...rest from PvP and dungeons.
However, GS and gear in general cannot define the skill or the experience of a player.

Thread updated, please note that we now recruit lvls 30+ only. Still open to all classes and GS, but ultimately we will move on to a more strict policy in the future (lvl 60+, some min. GS etc).

Opus Dei going strong with 50+ members, most lvl 60, and 10-15 ppl online at most times of the day. We are very active although it's the middle of the summer and some ppl are on vacation.
Still recruiting lvls 30+ but looking especially for skilled and experienced lvl 60s to bolster our Castle Never and Gauntlgrym groups.
Yesterday we did a flawless Dwarven King Crypt run with a semi-PUG (3 Opus Dei members and the other 2 from Greycloaks guild), without exploits, without voice com, with lag, without GF, and without unstoppable for 1 of the 2 GWFs (me, due to the common TAB bug that seems to trigger all the time since last patch). At the same time our other group was farming Fardelver Crypt :P
Whether you are an experienced player or a quick learner you should consider joining us

Opus Dei is still active in the middle of the summer, although too many members are away on vacation, and still recruiting all classes lvl 30+.
However the 2 most desirable classes atm are Guardian Fighters and Devoted Clerics, and you should expect the 30+ limit to rise soon.
We even had cross-shard applicants the last couple of days who were looking for a truly legit and active guild with MMO veterans

If you play on Dragon and think your profile fits our guild's profile, don't think any longer and contact us today!
If you play on Beholder or Mindflayer, have in mind that the shard merge will probably happen soon, and we do accept cross-server applicants, granting you 'associate' membership on our website should you be accepted.

One more glorious victory for Opus Dei and Delzoun Dwarves in Gauntlgrym tonight!
As usual we gave hell to thee accursed Luskan dogs who were seeking to plunder the treasure and desecrate that ancient place.
Both overall and battlefield obliteration, when several Opus Dei members are competing.
If you are looking for a very active GG guild with experienced PvPers (some WoW Grand Marshals too), look no further.

Heyo to all!

Ummm. so I was made the newest officer in our guild and thought I'd write a few lines.

Telling you all that we are active and great and helpful seems lame tho, doesn't it? Everybody does it, be it true or not. So I'll simply write what i see and experience in the guild. I've been in others before and watched them "dying". And i'd like to say that i'm still relatively new in the guild, so maybe i still see things and situations differently. We'll find out, shall we not?
I had written more initially, but apparently the forum doesnt like me yet. lol. All deleted and gone. So I'll simply leave it at that and write something more in the next post sometime. See you all around ^^

Seems like acidaid has some forum problems due to a bug or something

Anyway let me remind any interested parties that we still recruit all classes lvl 30+ with preference to GF+DC. Also active players who don't cheat/exploit please. You have to sign up on our guild website before you get your in-game guild invitation (should we agree to invite you first). You have to be mature (even if you are a younger player) and a teamplayer and willing to use raidcall when asked to (even without a mic, just be able to listen and understand instructions). Other than that, we won't judge you by your GS or the number of your alts or something

Me again! Hopefully this time the forum will behave and allow me to post what and the way i want, but i think i got the problem solved.

I think i may speak for our fearless leader also when i say that we can proudly announce the opening of out third bank depository! From now one we got one depository completely for those sought after epic gears that are available for our guild members for free. You want a special piece of item and it just wont drop in the dungeon? Look for it in our guildbank and maybe you are lucky and if it's not there, a shout into our chat might solve the problem also. Personally i have been already offered charms and gear that might be useful to me. So don't believe it doesnt happen. ^^ Hope to see you soon within our ranks

A wonderful day to you all!
Sometimes it's a little hard to think of what to write and tell you all that is cool and fun and actually happening in the guild, and sometimes if you think about it, it's just those little helpful moments that make a guild special.

Be it that i wasn't sure what enchantments to stack on my built, or someone who has never been to Gauntlegrym being shown the place and be told what has to be done. I was especially happy about the Gauntlegrym part. Seeing how someone took their time to show someone inexperienced what is to be done and how everything works...i had to figure it out myself and let me tell you, that took one or two Gauntlegrym sessions. :rolleyes: So hopefully now he liked the content and we have yet another fighter against Luskan. Can't have those plunderers win afterall!

Another successfull run through a dungeon was made by our guild. This time we all got together to master the Dread Vault. And dont say now "Baah, it's easy anyway". It was the very first time for me that i saw it completed, or that i even saw the second Miniboss that giant brain spawns! Our veteran, Epsilon, took his time to show us hidden chests, and explained us via Raidcall what to do and where to go. Also gave us some info on the epic version of that dungeon. I've never been there with my CW and with my DC i got nothing but faildungeons in there, so to see how easily we could wear it down was amazing.

Guild update, we have 3 guild bank repositories now since a few days ago and currently farming for 4th.
Member roster of almost 70, but that is including alts and a couple of inactive people who will get booted early September, when everyone will be back from vacation and things clear up

Many people asked about gear, so yes we help new members with free gear, gems etc, if they need, but don't expect to get a full t2 set when you join. You will have to work your way to that

Another thing, Opus Dei is an active guild, and by active we mean you have to be able to play about 20+ hours a week or more...else you need not bother applying unless you are an experienced/talented Foundry author, or other exceptional circumstances apply...
I think with that I answered to all of the enquiries we had the last few days from ppl interested in our guild.

Also just updating on what recently happened in our guild. One of the newest things is that we are now sharing our music collection on RaidCall. Especially our fearless leader makes a good DJ and has been gracing us with his big collection. It's simply fun to play the game with a good tune in your ear. Join up, join Raidcall and tune in. Or simply share your favourite songs with us. We are always eager to test out something new in that direction.

Opus Dei is closing in to 80 members and we now recruit only players lvl 50+ of any GS/gear and class, with a preference to experienced lvl 60s in preparation for the new patch on 22nd Aug.
You need to be able to play 20+ hours per week on average (excluding summer vacation etc), register on guild website and raidcall, play legit, play for fun

Also bring any alts you have with us.
If these few basic requirements sound reasonable, you might have found the guild you were looking for

Another glorious moment last night for Opus Dei, where we did a super fast Pirate King (T2) run without healer, legit and full clear.
Group setup was GF (not from guild), GWF, TR, CWx2. We joined the queue and the system gave us a GF instead of a DC...how many times everyone is whinning for ending up in a queue without healer and that Cryptic's matching system sucks...well maybe it doesn't suck after all :-D
The night was complete with a few GG PvE and PvP runs where we had absolute domination over Luskan Corsairs...as always...as it should be.
