Bag Gone after double-click

yeskaryeskar Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 22 Arc User
edited August 2013 in Bug Reports (PC)
I emptied an 18-slot-bag (Adventurer's knapsack) and double-clicked it to convert it to an inventory item in the lower section of the inventory screen.
The bag was removed from the lower section but did not appear in my inventory!
There were still free slots in my other bags so no bag space would not be the issue.

Does anybody have an idea how can I get my bag back?

It's in your inventory somewhere keep looking .

Oh my, me too. I thought something different happened, but maybe the only thing going on was double-clicking.

    Bags can't be vendored.

Yep. It's definitely not in my inventory. It's gone.

I don't suppose anyone would like to test this on the preview shard? I'm very curious about resolution, would like to know it's being addressed, and can't check myself because I'm at work for many more hours.

I was unable to replicate this bug on the preview shard, but of course I have no idea if that was because it's been fixed or because there are very specific conditions for triggering it (was a different character, for starters).

It also doesn't do anything to let me know if there's any hope of reclaiming my lost bags.

Scratch the above. I was able to recreate the bug immediately after I posted.

If the open inventory space is BELOW the bag being unequipped, the bag vanishes instead of being placed in your inventory. If the open space is above the bag being unequipped, everything is just fine and hunky dory and nobody would ever realize there's an issue.

Community mods, PLEASE bring this to the attention of your devs. It's important.

Thanks beckylunatic for trying this out.
I can confirm this matches with my situation. The bag that has gone missing by double-clicking it was located in slot #2. While I had free space in the bags #3 and #4, my bag in slot #1 was full.

So once again - community mods, PLEASE bring this to the attention of your devs. It's important.

And go figure, the one bag where I actually can't force this to happen is the Bag of Holes.

Bumping this... this is an important bug that is easy to reproduce:
    * Fill Bag in Slot #1 full of stuff with no free space
    * Empty Bag in Slot #2
    * Have free space in bags in Slots #3 and above
    * Double-click Bag #2 to convert it to an inventory item

-> Bag #2 disappears instead of being converted

    Please fix!

My GM help request was answered with great success!

They said that if I emptied out yet another bag and dragged it to the open slot where I'd lost one, if all went well, the missing bag would appear in the bag I just moved. It worked, and I recovered both of my lost bags.

Sharing the solution for the good of all.

    Thanks for sharing!
I got a similar reply from a GM this morning, and this solution brought my missing bag back as well.

I read this solution & tried with my 1 remaining empty bag & it disappeared as well since it was not the 1st bag, even though the 1st bag had an empty slot. I broke down and wasted 1000 Zen to buy a new Greater Bag of Holding (and made sure i had an empty slot in my 1st bag) & was able to recover all my other bags, but it cost me 'real world' money in the form of using purchased ZEN that I had planned to use on my other character, so this is serious bug. I updated my GM report with the information as this can have financial impacts on their customers if the users have to spend real money (in some cases) due to a programming issue.
