I am perfectly fine adding a hundred different versions of Healer classes to the game as long as:
A) The original "prime" healer class 1 is the best healer in the game period. The original "prime" healer class 1 isn't butchered up into tiny pieces and divided up among all the other hybrid healers 2, 3, 4...
C) The original "prime" healer isn't balanced against healer class 2, 3, 4...
If you want to make a ton of inferior healer classes who hug trees, wear plate armor and can't tank worth a dang, poke totems into the ground, wear funny costumes, etc be my guest... However what always ends up happening in the end is everyone wants THEIR healer class X to be equal to all of the other healer classes and you end up over complicating the whole balancing experience.
This is were you Fail....
DnD (and games in general Shouldn't be) isn't about any one "Prime" Class.
The Guardian Fighter is only one Style of Tank, The Cleric isn't just a healer they are Divine Casters for both healing and Harming, Hell 3rd Ed they also Tanked if they wanted to.
Warlord are your Frontline General's that make people Fight harder and better because they are helping their men.
Diplomancy: Sometimes "I hit it with my Axe" is the only Answer.
A Challenge is something interesting and awkward until you beat it... then it's called "Repetative"
It seems ridiculous that anyone would want less variety instead of more. Going by the OP's logic, they should really just eliminate all of the classes but three a. Optimum Healer b. Optimum Tank c. Optimum DPS. For that matter and for the sake of pure mechanical simplicity and perfection of balance, lets just get rid of MMOs altogether and we can all just play rock-paper-scissors. Oh the vanity of us computer users who want our shiny avatars and lore! What an offense to the purity of game mechanics! Lawl get real.
I don't want to see another G**-D*** word typed in this thread unless you have downloaded and looked at PDF's of Player's Handbook 1,2,&3, Martial Power 1&2, Arcane Power, Divine Power, Primal Power, & Psionic Power, so you can know the definition, differences and relationships of these terms: Role, Class, Build, & Paragon Path.

Op its all fine amd dandy if u play one of the classes in game, but if youre like me and play a 4e swordmage and warlock it sucks not having ur favorite class/es. New paths are awsome, but i really feel with bow many of us play a tabletop class that isnt in game currently we want those vlasses. Also adding more classss would help a ton with the current problem of cheap bis gear o the ah, since a given piece of gear would b less likely to obtain
