I see so many people complaining about so many things on the forums. I guess thats the nature of the beast. you give a kid some candy and he wants the whole store...
I just want to say thanks for making a great game, that is also FREE to play. I think many people have such high hopes for this game and see the amazing potential it does have, but also see alot of the things that need addressing. But what they DONT see is the man hours you guys put into this game and all for a FREE game!
Now I get you guys make money off zen and RM transactions buying zen, but id rather have that then a subscription OR ads popping up all over the place. I have contributed $40 to the game, and if things continue I might do more to help support the game...
Overall, thanks for the game and just know that no matter what you guys do, people will ALWAYS complain about class balance. They will ALWAYS complain about not having enough to do in end game. It is only until they have quit the game, and look back with their friends on the good times they had, that the game really gets true credit.
I hope you guys keep working hard and the most important thing is that you listen to the community about game direction, which it seems you guys do quite a bit of already.
I'm with the OP. I spent way to much money on many years of a subscription, and welcome a game that is free to play. Cryptic is getting beaten up on these forums, and people seem to forget that it's free to play and they are doing a decent job.
I am enjoying this game so far, 60 days in. Plenty of stuff to do, 1 char to 60, another to 36 and a new one at 8. As a completist, I like to take my time and try to do everything. Also do not have large amounts of gametime available, so like as immersive an experience as possible.
My major bug with the game is speed of levelling - too fast and you do miss stuff out. Aside from this, overpriced items and the usual farming/exploit/bot issues, this is pretty good for a fan of the Forgotten Realms books!
I've been since Alpha Testing and while I believe the game needs work in some areas, in others I am aware it deserves recognition. I throw both roses and harsh words to the devs from time to time and pull the wallet when I want to. So, I support OP.
I agree with zephyrli. Neverwinter is a fun game and for me it is a temporary filler until the next titles break into the scene. I have always known that cryptic can not design for the long-term and pwe leans towards the morally bankrupt end of coercive monetization, but DnD cannot be passed. It is a good placeholder, but when the next company pulls out a true winner, I will move on.
There is always hope that other developers, creative designers, and producers have received a spark of inspiration from the DnD themes and go on to make the next real DnD MMO with the passion to create a quality product, a fun game, and balancing the need to make money. It is possible, but the emphasis right now is on money and how to ring every cent out of the pockets of consumers.
This is a fun game, but it won't take much to move me onto the next thing when it rolls around.

People that use the "stop *****ing, its free" defense whenever someone complains about this game are just silly. Did this game have potential? Absolutely. The fact of the matter is that cryptic/PWE have run the game into the ground with countless over the top nerfs and the worst customer support ive ever seen out of ANY game. the amount of bugs/exploits that are still in this LIVE game is absurd as well and we get very little info on what they are doing to fix them. The game being free does not give them free reign to treat there customers the way they do. Take a look at League of Legends, completely free, regular updates, monthly new characters and new mechanics, customer support is very good, and all for free. Being free doesnt mean you have to have a subpar game, especially if you advertise it as an MMORPG. League of legends also has much more of a playerbase then NW so its not becuase they dont have too many people to please. Cryptic should take a page from Riot's buisness model if they wanna see how to run a F2P game.
Neverwinter isn't a BAD game, but I think a lot of the Nerd-rage is caused by the fact that with a little more effort it could have been an outstanding game.
I have more or less given up on the gear grind and am just raiding alts and doing Foundry and am having a great time, as the mass exploits/dupes/cheats don't affect me much. But for anyone who is interested in the MMO gear progression, I can see why they are so frustrate.
There has been a lot wrong with how the game has been released so far but I have a lot of faith in the games future since I saw some of the stuff that has been datamined from the latest test server client , check it out , the armoured Unicorn mount and Owlbear mount look Awesome xD - http://imgur.com/a/v4G90

Dont get me the wrong, the game has its good features, like the combat system. The combat system flows extreamly nicely and i wouldnt mind other companies sampling it for use in other games. My biggest problem with this game is truly the Devs and Publisher. Also, the game has very little content bordering on the lines of an Action-RPG but no where near the amount that a standard MMO has on release. The lack of content, CS, and general communication with the playerbase is what keeps driving me away from logging in. The best feature the game has is the Foundry and that has been taken down countless times for days and weeks at a time with literally no information on why other then "We are fixing some things".

People who are happy with a product don't tend to post a positive review as often as those who are unhappy and post a negative review.
. . . . . Indeed, I rarely make comment on things I enjoy because I am too busy enjoying them. I do have my moments where I rant though on things that I don't like (as my post history shows if one is willing to dig through moderator/community-related replies).
. . . . . Personally, I am loving the game with very few serious qualms. This game is easily my all time favorite MMO, but that's just part of my over-all my opinion, albeit the majority of it. I'm loving the artwork, the lore, the missions, the stories, the voice-overs and mostly the sheer joy of playing a freaking Forgotten Realms MMORPG!!!!! Huzzah! As a FR DM for 20 years now, I feel as though I am in Elysium... Some devils do knock on the gates, but I don't let them get me down.
I am appreciative of the many many hours I spent so far on this game, and while I am more or less still currently bored of the current game since I have played ALOT and done ALOT, I have high hopes for the future.
I am really looking forward to the expansion and the "campaign" system that have devised. I agree with others that if the game at its current form doesnt change, if another company releases a great game, it will get replaced. Thats the fickle side of the MMO business... If you dont keep up demands/changes/content the game gets dumped for another.
I have alot of faith in this game because I really do enjoy the combat. I LOVED the game 1-59 and at first level 60 was great... Until the usual end game issue kick in with boredom and nothing to do once youve gotten gear. So while I agree. I also see all the changes that have happened and realize that not everything is in the hands of Cryptic.
I just wanted to show my gratitude thus far for the game, and even if I left today, I have enjoyed many many hours upon hours playing it and have had alot of fun. Keep at it, and hopefully I can have many many more.
It truly is an amazingly well-put-together game. The only complaint I've had with it worth mentioning is the fact that you can't participate in earlier Skirmishes if you outlevel those queues. Other than that, though, I really have no other complaints with the game. It's a great game and I hope to continue to enjoy it for many months to come!
Honestly, I cannot understand what people are complaining about. For simply PvE, you do not need to purchase anything at all. Spending money for additional purchases simply make your experience more enjoyable but offer nothing extra. I started the game in June. With the current event, you can get enough AD from the gift boxes to purchase a purple companion, or a set of T1 armor set or both depending on how long and how lucky you play. This does not even take the previous events and promotions in the past.
For those who want immediate gratification, you do need to pay a premium. I think that it is absolutely fair Perfect World to charge you that much with an option for you to earn free Zen money.
For those who still complains about this game, please GO AWAY!. You are not going to be missed at all.

You obviously didnt read what people have issues with in this post if your talking about not needing to spend money. The issue isnt with the cash shop.

While I personally don't agree with much in your post, it's nice (and rare) to see such positivity in this forum, threads like this where people simply discuss what they like about the game and the whole thing serves as a reminder to not forget whats great about a game, what's (to some, still) fun. Just like negativity tends to spread, so does positive posts.
I would like to adress your last sentences tho; Those who do "still" complain about this game, realise that some do it because they care about this game, it's present state and future, or have invested alot of time and money into it and want to see it flourish and be all that it can be, and voicing concerns and adressing issues like bugs, flaws, imbalances, broken features or things of similar nature, actually does promote change, brings it to the Devs (and playerbase's) attention, and by caps-lock screaming for them to "go away" tends to hide problems more than adress them. (Obviously not talking about simple whine or mindless bashing without anything constructive here).

Business 101. Telling people they wont be missed is laughable. Its really not that hard to understand that customers will let a company know when stuff is overpriced, or they are not receiving the value they paid for. If youre such a company supporter you should be thanking those of us who do not spend money on the game but currently provide that feedback of what would actually get us to spend money on the game, rather than telling us to go away. Once the company has that info and acts on it, more people will be funding the game.
Youre seeing it as a black and white issue, with people who either love or hate the game. Welcome to the huge gray area in between where many people like the game, but currently do not see it as something to put money into. Instead of just going away, which will eventually lead to the game being unfunded and folding, they tell the company what they would need to do in order to get them to be paying customers - which goes above and beyond the any obligation a customer has. You want the game you defend to be around for a long period of time? Then encourage the company to do things that will get those providing said feedback to become paying customers, rather than just telling people who dont agree with your assessment to leave.
First of all I absolutely LURVE NWO, The art is lovely, the combat is fun once you get used to the wonky interface ( still would be nice to have a turn camera left and right bind to the keys that was a fluid turn, (I have /adjustcamerayaw 30) and a fluid zoom in and out in combat (I use /setedefaultfieldof view #),
The customization could use some work but there is still much more than when I first started playing wow, 5 human faces that looked exactly alike I went with the cross-eyed one to be different at least here we have sliders and fashion outfits, I do love how NW seems to be more like a TV series than a movie. sure any one element has less content but we can depend on a longer term ad more frequent inflow of new stuff every few weeks rather than once a year.
I Love moonstone mask though it could use far less civilian npcs, and I wish the VIP room was usable rp space since not even VIPs go there. Be nice to have a Mailbox/AH/Tailor/crafting-supply venders in the vip room that might make it a more appealing reason to spend 200$ on. that is why so many people spent money to get the tiki room porter pack. and I wish the other inns were also separate instances from the main zones.
I love foundry it is brilliant I love the fact I can pick a real world location as a door to my mission as it feels more immersive (I do wish there were some doors/Objects in the mask.) I love the thought of running people through actual zones. however I do wish I could choose the door they leave out of as well as come into. so that I can keep my quest close to my own map. especially if I want to have a map in a hard to navigate area.
************************************************
I am here from City of heroes and I joined Champions online when city was closed, proceeded to buy EVERY SINGLE COSTUME PACK and I Still have gold membership there. we regularly still rp and costume contest,
I do agree the community on PWE games is probably the most negative I have ever seen in my life. Its not just constructive criticism I regularly see posts that come down to people saying you should just do a character wipe or even just shut down your games and stop trying. Coming from the POV of someone who did have a game just shut down with nearly no notice after 10 years. this attitude makes me angry.
At first I thought it was upset city of hero people just venting at champions cause they were a competitor. but I noticed it in STO also.... it would be so bad id feel like saying if you hate the game so much why do you play?.. I was hoping NWO would escape this fate but it to has been infested. I have to wonder if these people are actually trying to sabotage the new game in hopes their older game does better.
Also this Community seems to have a bargaining obsession the idea that if an existing feature was taken away they will magically get the feature they want instead. rather than what actually will happen they will probably lose the existing feature and still not get that thing they want. it reminds me of my sister in law when she wants some specific type of food. she will shoot down every other food place until my hubby goes fine we just wont eat out then.... I end up cooking leftovers which she also wont eat.
Typically the reaction is reverse of that. if a family diner goes well the next time we go out she gets her thing. Same goes for these games if expansions an new content make PWE money we will get more releases even if its not the content I want its probably one less person who has the same race class and dress than me.
************************************************
ALso if things go well in NWO they may add improvements to the other cryptic games like foundry in CO, or maybe just make a Champions 2 with NWO graphics Rather than cell-shading) and an action combat system. Seeing how they keep PWI and other fantasy titles open after NWO came out i have no fear of CO itself closing down. but in all things I am an optimist. Some people debate weather the glass is half full or half empty. I go... Hey I got a GLASS!
I do plan to keep putting money into NWO and even CO (assuming they give us stuff to buy) as long as they maintain good rp. What I do to prevent content boredom is most of the time I level via invocation foundry and queues but ill pick 1-3 zones (in addition to zones that give bags.) typically ones I want titles for and level in those.
I am not as big on sto as fun as its game play is I found sto lacking good stable rp and rp guilds.
TDLR = Love game, combat, rp, foundry ect...
Agree people are negative for the sake of it
Angry people shoot other down to try to improve their own agenda.
hope NWO is a huge success and that they also improve CO & Sto
Ill keep investing in NWO & CO as long as there is good RP.
Yeah its sad my TDLR is longer than half the posts

I absolutely loves this game. The combat is very well done (I enjoy beating on the Dummies in ToB). Foundry = the best.
This does not change the fact that I won't be putting more money into the game. Although the mechanics / gameplay changes to the rogue could have been an 'up in the air / this is actually better / net of zero /' sort of situation the fact is that the low crit add to Lurker versus it's previous 60% damage and stealth getting another nerf truly make me feel like i just wasted all of my time studying my class. No matter how this ends up (regardless of how crits proc, breakpoints, discrete math) the numbers just are not there, at least not as far as I can tell. It was hard enough to get a group for her as it is now (rogues are needed for almost no instances and are considered laregly filler or spider / the odd instance where the class can have a role, however unnecesary). I was praying for a boon....
I played the game a full 2 months before paying some money in game and have invested heavily in other PW titles (STO) and am well aware of the nature of the system but this is very bad. I still enjoy the play so i will definitely continue on my alt but not money for cryptic on that one.
The biggest issue people seem to have (based on what I see on the forums) is the focus on adding Zen-Store items over improving the game - it's rare that a patch goes by without something new being added to the store but bug-fixes and quality-of-life improvements are much thinner on the ground - they're there, but obviously of a lesser importance than making money.
And for the most part, the F2P'ers aren't opposed to Cryptic making money - their most frequent complaint is that they *want* to contribute to the game but don't feel they can - either because of PWE's pricing structure (which incidentally, I agree with - almost everything in the cash shop should be priced at 75% or less in my opinion) - or because the blatant focus on making money rather than polishing the game is making them feel the company hasn't done enough to deserve that money.
Neverwinter is great fun, but the economy has been decimated by exploiting (caused by bugs that should have been fixed before open beta) which has thrown the value of Astral Diamonds/Zen completely out of whack - none of Cryptic's pricing (particularly in-game Astral Diamond stores) remotely makes sense any more (2,000,000 AD's for a rare T0 set of armor vs 20,000 AD's for a piece of T2 in the Auction House).
Even Respecs are a mess - 100,000 Astrals buys you 300 Zen for a full Respec - just respeccing your Feats costs 150k. Companion upgrades are going to continue to be a hot topic - 890,000 AD's buys you 2,500 Zen but upgrading a companion from white to purple (on the Test Server) is 2,000,000 Astral Diamonds - who's going to pay that?
And changes like BoP for Seal items just reek of greed - we'll no longer be able to equip a new lvl 60 alt in T1 PvP gear so honestly, for a lvl 60 that's got T2 gear, what's the point in Drake Seals or Glory any more? Changes like this without any feedback to the community about the reasoning behind them make Cryptic/PWE look penny-pinching and mean-spirited and some people won't give them their money just because of that.
Customer Service and transparency with the player-base are something Cryptic/PWE are *dreadful* at - if they could fix this they'd get a lot less hostility from the community and they might even make more money

Mod Notice: Pay to Win discussions are not allowed. . . . . . Let's keep the discussion away from Pay 2 Win, as it is a never-ending cycle with plenty on both sides, and in the middle, who feel strongly about it one-way or another. These debates go in circles and end up in flames and other rule violations, so the topic of P2W has been written down in the Revised Rules of Conduct as a prohibited topic for discussion. If anyone has any feedback that touches on P2W, please post it in the Off Topic Forum and if it doesn't other-wise violate the Rules, we'll then move it to the Lower Depths, so it remains a public post - posting them else-where may result in harsher outcomes. Such posts here have been and will continue to be removed/edited. This is not open for debate. Thank you for your cooperation.
These are my positives, the graphics, the music, the setting, the back story, the quests, the foundry, the armor, the leveling pace, and it's free. I can choose to spend my hard earned money or not. There is too much negativity on this forum at times, I am happy to see a positive post for once. I am having fun and as long as I am having fun I'm not going to complain. Sure there are improvements to be made, bugs to be squashed etc, that's just normal.

You forget what does it take to fuse enchants at higher lvls or if you want a mount thats any good in pvp or the gambling on lock boxes. Or the way a F2P game real money system is setup for people to actually spend more on a game then a sub games monthly sub fee.
Saying the problems of the game are simply because its a free to play game and they dont have the funds is a lark.
They get beatup on the forums for the lack of content and mostly the botz and must not forget the bugs and hacks also. The huge lack of internal play testing is super sucky ducky.
The latest event gift boxes. Sometimes they dont even show up in the inventory after picking it up????? How the hell does something that huge of an error get through internal testing?

Customer Service and transparency with the player-base are something Cryptic/PWE are *dreadful* at - if they could fix this they'd get a lot less hostility from the community and they might even make more money
