Leavers in pve are the problem, but sadly that cannot be addressed till the queue system its self is fixed.
There are plenty of times where i leave pve grps b/c the queue is HAMSTER.
Why does it full the party when one or two people decline?
Great! Now i am a 3 man pug with zero chance of success. Have to requeue.
Or when i queue into an empty dungeon. No party. Just me. Of course i have to leave and requeue.
Or when it somehow puts me in a dungeon-in-progress, but the team skipped trash and wont come back to get me. Have to requeue (honestly wish i knew how this happened so i could force queue to fill slots when people leave).
Till this HAMSTER and other issues are fixed i dont see a leave penalty being used. There are simply too many legit reasons to leave that the queue itself creates.
They a increasing amount of occasion when despite things going well people are randomly quiiting and leaving without reason, this happens in Epic PvE, but especially bad in PvP.
They really needs to be a leaving penalty, something thats severe enough to punish those that will just log a alt, but not so severe it punish people who leave for genuine reason.
Suggestion: 2 hour Queue ban from ALL Queues
This means if you leave pvp before its finished, you can't Queue for dungeouns or skirmishes, you shouldn't Queue for something your not prepared to commit too
.
Vote for early leave!
They will be occasions when people genuinely want to leave early and people are all ok with this, a system could be in place to allow people to leave without suffering leavers penalty in the form of a group vote system
Two problems. One, though I assume they'd recognize it, DCing. Sometimes it just happens. Second thing, what do I do, good sir, about entering a pug group in PvP of BOTS? Should I stay there? Waste of my **** time.
Most of those against a penalty are moaning about their game. PvP is a team game. 1 leaver ruins the game for the other 9 players. That's the point.
I play about 4 or 5 a day and over half of them end up 4v5 or 3v5 within 60 seconds. That's not due to someone finally getting fed up of getting rolfstomped. That's some selfish git that loses the first combat and just bails. 100% in favour of a leavers penalty. Sometimes you get hard games, unbalanced games but turning a 5v5 into a 4v5 is just selfish.

I agree that there should be a penalty of some sort however to differentiate between those who disconnect and those who just plain leave there should be an option to re-enter the pvp arena so if you re-enter it wont be counted as you leaving....
A leaving penalty will do absolutely NOTHING to curb leavers. It doesn't matter if you make it 2 hours or 2 day lockouts players are still going to leave a match.
Those who say to not punish disconnects well what if you are disconnected longer than the match? Were you legitimately disconnected or were you trying to avoid the penalty? If you get a 2 hour lock out for leaving but if you can disconnect for 10 minutes which would a cry baby leaver take? Just disconnect yourself wait 10 minutes, relog and go back in to ruin another match and avoid the 2 hour lock out.
Leaving penalty will do NOTHING but punish legitimate players. It is a terrible idea.
Surely the game can tell the difference between a disconnect and the player leaving? So if we disconnect, no harm done. If we leave, get a long ban.
OK lets get 1 thing straight shall we? I can D/C my puter without actually leaving stay out for 30 seconds log back in and guess what I didn't *leave* even though I really did.
The REAL way to fix this is simply to have people who leave be replaced from the pvp pool.
You force me to stay in a losing game I will go up top or find somewhere AWAY from what is going on and DO NOTHING which is the same as LEAVING.
Learn to pvp and maybe just maybe people will stay.
just throwing new people in at any time is a little foolish. Half the time you queue you will be thrown into an already losing battle and have to play the last 5 minutes trying to catch up (which probably won't happen) and then between being the losing team and only being in the fight for 5 minutes you'll receive 30 honor points...
I'm sure this has been said before but why not just a PvP Rank/GS matching system? Also a premade match system, ie if you have 5 enemy team is all 5, if you have 3 enemy team has 3 or 2 teams of 2 etc. Leaving happens most often when one team is just hilariously more geared than the other.
And once something like that is implemented and matches are on fair teams then it would be fine to have some sort of leaving debuff because there is little reason to leave anymore. Also honor gear being BoP is going to make only the hardcore PvPers do it anyway. I hope that they don't do this, but if they do it will cut down on the leaving problem.

We are definitely dominating, and we are always about to win.
Leaving penalty should be tied to match time. ON a side note. Why not address the insane amounts of reasons to leave. Staying in a game is still a penalty most of the time over leaving. When the other team gives up and its 125-5 if you are winning or losing the match there is no reason to stay. If the other team leaves there should be a match will now close in 30 seconds. Or if a player leaves it should fill the game till its over. I don't understand why we don't have a system to join games already in progress to fill the game. Also there needs to be no spawn sitting. I mean come on you qued for PvP. after 10 sec in the spawn area you get thrown out to fight if you don't want to fight then use the surrender button. So the match can end. Until there are some serious changes and I didn't even go into rewards and lack of them. There can't really be a penalty for leaving. There needs to be a system to want to stay first.

How about this : Let the devs make it so these rules apply to you and only you alone for the next 2-3 months to give the system a
proper testing . After this you can tell us all about it .

Personally i do pvp all day, and I can tell you the reasons why people leave.
1 - Newcomers to lvl 60, which are annihilated in 1 sec. by people with 10k + gs.
2 - Permastealth whit TR = 1 or 2 hit kill
3 - StundLock Guys.
4 - Server DC.
Why penalize people for not wanting to die 50 times, unable to defend itself?.
Want a real solution?
1 - Balance the pvp.
2 - Queve system by GS.
3 - pvp domination, where gs is down to 0 (no matter the equipment you wear, just your skills).
Although you make some good points, if you do not play with/against experienced players you will never get better at the game. The learning curve in this game isn't anything special, but that doesnt mean you can just get BIS and all of a sudden be a master at everything. Gear is not everything, and players who consistently leave because they are getting stomped, their team starts to lose and they think they cant turn it around, or they leave immediately if they don't have perfect team comp, etc., will never get better at the game and will never fully understand/realize all the components that make one successful in it.
A 10-15 minute deserter debuff is all that is needed to quell the leaver endemic. If you happen to get dc'd, tough luck, getting dc'd probably happens once or twice a week, and if it's happening to you more than that you need to get your internet service checked out.
10-15 minutes is probably how long most PvP matches take on average, so basically someone who is about to leave prematurely will just stay in the game, because it will cost them the same/more amount of time to leave and get deserter debuff than just finishing the current game and starting another one imediately.

refusal to vote will go in favor of the person who requesting to leave, a simple solution.
and 1 hour ban wont be anywhere near enough, they 1 hour bans in Star Trek and its really nothing at all.
only alternative to 2 hour would be a 1 hour ACTIVE online time, so that if you log a alt, the timer wont tick on the character with a ban
Yea that's all I did in WoW.. If I got a bad pvp group or a dungeon failgroup or a group with some socially challenged tool, I'd just drop and if I had nothing else to do on that toon at that moment (farming, daily's, etc..) I'd just log one of my other 2 main characters.
Also if you are in a PvP match and have less than 450 personal Score you get 0 Glory. So why would you stay and for 10+ minutes and get no rewards!
Bingo!!! There is no reason to stay in a lot of PvP matches and honestly when me and my friends nuke a team from the start and 3 cap. We just leave cause why stay in a game for 10mins of no fighting even as the winner ? There needs to either be a when someone drops a new person in que is added to the fight. Also when in the spawn camp area you need to get thrown out after 10 secs. The problem in games is Spawn sitting not spawn camping. If you qued for the match fight. Now after implementing the 10 sec you get thrown out of spawn if you don't want to fight anymore hit the Surrender button and end the match and opt out. If its a 3 cap and you aren't fighting the match should close after 30 secs. Some pretty simple fixes and kinda fixes leaving in a whole. Also have some real rewards and not given out at the end of the match either. Actively if you get a kill its 30 glory period soon as it happens. Just like in real world pvp which hopefully can have some day
For how many players who suck at pvp leave. A 2 hour leaving penalty will do nothing except make queue times go up. But hey I guess it's worth waiting 20 minutes for a queue with players who might leave anyways than playing with quitters. Oh right, leavers are quitters so I guess longer queues just means you'll get that much more pissed off when a player quits after waiting 20 minutes for the queue.
Correction its actually 500 pts. I have gotten a couple kills and a cap with 450 pts and close but no cigar. No Rewards is all I got for the win. That's some incentive to stay on the winning team huh.

I use to think that it was 500pts but then I only got 300pts once when the entire enemy team left after only 1 volley. I was in a premade and we stomped them all at point 2 and they all bailed. I only had 300 pts for the cap and got glory.
