1600 AD every 12 hours for the level 20 Destroy Enemy Camp for 3 slots,
400 AD every 6 hours for the level 16 Fight Off Spellplagued for 3 slots.
So at a minimum (as there are other better rare tasks), assuming you do leadership twice a day you are looking at 12KAD, and around 2 gold, using a total of 6 slots.
Remember, though that Leadership takes a really long time to get to 20. I have been logging-in twice a day at least to do Leadership and it isn't even 18 yet, and you need the same amount of XP to get from 18 to 20, as from 1 to 18.
Its worth it tho, Leadership is prob the best profession because you don't have 10 min micromanaging, and you don't rely/depend on market for your income.

Keep in mind though, that until you reach lvl 20, you might want to focus on the tasks that give most leadership xp per hour ... but you might get less AD as a result.

True but you might want some AD before then. I've been looking at Level 20 Leadership. 38400 XP just to go from 19 to 20. Running the 6 best XP missions (8 hours) twice a day that's still 16 days for just the last level of Leadership alone. Ugh.
im not sure i understand - 12 k per day? with my tailor if i make 3 shirts a day and 3 pant its dublle the amount i think.
Nobody claimed it was the best way. Only another option. Selling shirts, for example, has cost and risk involved. You have rare and common materials involved. Prep time to harvest and make the items. Listing fees, and a chance you could be undercut and not sell. Or sell for what you want.
Leadership on the other hand has no risk. It is not dependent on outside factors. It might not be the fastest way to earn AD. But it is simple, steady, and reliable.

If you don't mind checking on stuff every few hours (not too painful with Gateway), you can watch out for the rare task to protect a diamond shipment and run that x3 as often as possible, while running as many of the common task patrol mines as you can swing to acquire the necessary mining claims. Since the patrol task is available level 13 and the protect task is available at 14, you can lay in a bit of a supply of claims to get started with. Protect diamond shipment not only gives 1600AD in 12 hours, same as the level 20 destroy camp task, but it gives no regular XP, which is great for players like me trying to stave off levelling too fast.
Anyway, I've only got 5 open slots (Leadership 17 and char level 45ish on the guy grinding it hardest), and rotating this with fight off spellplagued is a pretty decent income. I don't necessarily use all my slots for Leadership all the time. I'll still some mass-forging overnight sometimes, for example, because I do intend to go back and level more crafting at some point. But it's clipping along. I have acquired enough Adventurers by watching for underpriced dudes on the AH that I can use two Adventurers on each of 5 simultaneous tasks, which turns a 12-hour task into 8 hours, so I can fit in even more. They're paying for themselves.
I'd have been doing even better with this plan if I'd realized before yesterday you could cancel a running profession task at any time. The number of times I've missed maximizing on the rare task in rotation because all my slots and dudes were tied up.... Grumble.
roughly 9-12K AD daily.. not a bad deal since you're making AD out of nothing.
Add in an average of 1K for the first invocation on a level 60 character, and ~2K as you have a chance of getting a blue ward, and it seems really worthwhile (~9K AD and 1 gold) to login once per day.

Those level 20 leadership "tasks" also CONSUME three (3) marks of gratitude and one (1) siege engine (or region map OR mining claim, depending on which mission is available) each. That's 4 blue "items" that one has to acquire either through leadership grinding or rare box/drops.
Read the Wiki on Leadership carefully before dreaming of astral diamonds raining in from heaven.

Nope.
He is just calculating the amount of AD you can get from the level 20 Common Task, "Destroy Enemy Camp" that requires no consumables and gives a Large Chest of Goods, 20 Silver, 1,600 Astral Diamonds and 120 Professional XP (the last of which is at present totally redundant....)
Add in the amount from Fight Off Spellplagued , and his figures are right.
using 2 adventures " protect the mines " only takes 2 hours 40 minutes . I ran this constantly once I hit 13 , when awake . This is fastest xp mission , and as a bonus gives the scrolls for the 1600 AD bonus mission . took months but I did make it to level 20 , now those 6 adventures run the ' destroy enemy camp ' and its every 8 hours with two blues running it .
I haven't even hit 18 yet on my main and I've been doing this twice a day also
To be fair I've been using adventures since day one and currently have almost 40 adventures across my toons.
Funny thing is my Dwarf leveled 1-20 Plate smithing before starting leadership and is rank 17 while everyone else is rank 18. 1-16 is really fast but once you hit 17+ it becomes a crawl.

This probably explains the difference - I hired my own mercenaries -> guards -> footman which took a long time. In retrospect I should have just bought footman or a man-at-arms off the AH.

Depends on your server, I guess, but you can watch for cheap-cheap-cheap assets and get some faster dudes. 60k is not bad for an adventurer, but you can find them for 50-55k. They appear to sell readily at 65-70k, and have just been cleared out on Mindflayer up to 80k, so it's not like they're a bad investment if you found yourself wanting to sell.
Man-at-arms, I'll buy at up to 15k. I used them for a while while I was building up my troops, but I've now been able to fuse them all up into adventurers as well. I've seen people selling them as low as 10k with this promo running.
I've bought all of my Blues for 50k & Greens for 10k. I'll be selling off my Blues soon and switching to greens. The Epic's just aren't worth the cost.

That probably makes sense once you've finished levelling up and are at 20 Leadership. The speed increase seems to be more beneficial while levelling.
You can do one t1 dungeon and sell an item to make triple that amount. Bottom line sell all your resources and dont even bother with crafting. In the long run you will lose.

I'm not complaining about the time it takes. I'm just glad that in one aspect cryptic doesn't just simply feed you XP lol. That way it makes level 20 worth while.

OR you could do both and make even more money

for common tasks you can always get:
1600 AD every 12 hours for the level 20 Destroy Enemy Camp for 3 slots,
