Looking for reviews for my new quest which is so far a stand alone though it may become a campaign later on.
The Lost Keep NW-DS1XBAK7D
A messenger seeks you out and delivers a letter, which reads as follows.
I trust this letter found you well. A noblemen by the name of Burkhard sought out my attentions on the matter of his missing daughter. I'm afraid we just do not have the man power right now to deal with man hunts outside the city. I referred him to yourself in hopes you would be available to help. I would consider this a personal favour if you assisted in this for the security and betterment of all Neverwinter's citizens; lest these events grow more frequent, left uncheck.
Sgt Knox
Players: solo / two person
Type: dungeon delve
Special: Hidden mini boss (dungeon area)
There is 4 optional objectives in this quest: Purge the shadows from the dungeon, confront the Halfling thief, destroy the queen's nest, free all the trapped spirits in the keep. Plus a hidden mini boss in the dungeon area as shown in the quest's description (not hidden very well, i guess as he is part of the purge the shadows quest)
All complete with a 'boss' encounter that will hopefully be unique.
Running as a CW the main quest was about 17 min. Doing all the side quests about 23 min.
Really enjoyed making this quest (except rigging all those torches and their encounters) and I hope you will enjoy playing this.

If you would be willing to trade reviews, feel free to visit my thread. Here there is bunch of people that will definietly trade you some plays if you do play through theirs.
Hey, I posted this on my thread but didn't know if you'd see it there...
I played your quest and at the end when I went to collect my reward in the tavern, it dropped my quest..may be why you're missing more reviews?
I really wish I could have left my review...let me know when you get it fixed because, well, I'd rate it 6 stars if I could! The environments were breathtakingly amazing! The attention to detail was superb...it was actually a quite inspiring experience, playing your quest.
I did your entire quest but when I clicked the exit door it took me back to PE and the quest was gone from my quest list. I don't know if that's a bug with your quest or a bug with the game. It was an excellent quest. I enjoyed it very much.
Can you explain a few details to me (I'm new):
1. How did you light the torches.
2. How did you have the spider eggs explode and spawn spiders?
Thank you again for reviewing my quest and if this problem gets fixed I'll be happy to come back and review.
as I posted on purple's post its something in game if you go back to char selection then enter the game again while in PE it will resume the quest. I had it happen for my quest and aracnakat's "find the artifact". I think any quest that requires you to go back to PE may be affected.
As for the spider eggs I made a place marker about 5' instead of the 50'. spider eggs set to disappear, effect bone explosion and for select eggs spiderling encounter all linked to the place marker, each egg has its own place marker... so it took forever to rig everything.
I'm glad you enjoyed it though

It really added to the environment quite a bit. It was all the small touches that really made your quest extremely amazing...I could tell how much work you put into it.
Okie, so this is very strange. Two days later and the quest popped back up on my screen and I was able to finish it -hehe- gave you a great review - well deserved. Still want to know how you did the spiders/eggs. You helped me make the torches from in-game chat
Changed the ending to collect the chest while still in the keep as well as Lana's dialog to encompass the small bit of story dropped by not returning to Burkhard. Took forever to publish but it's up again.

Sweet! I actually republished mine today as well..(took about 20 hours) If you get a chance, would you mind checking it out? I totally remade that first map that needed environmental work. I'm rather proud of the turnout. I value your opinion on environments...lol
Sorry purple, I'm not ignoring your request, just busy with work. will check yours out on the weekend. also gotta make some adjustments to the keep as was request by in game email, but cant get around to it til the weekend either.

Oh, no prob at all. I've had my head stuck in building maps for part 2. XD
5 reviews, 10 plays (5 of them mine) still looking for more reviews. Any feed back for changes needed would be appreciated. I have played a reviewed a number of quests asking for trade and have yet to receive their review, so I'm not sure what to do any more.

Just played it, fantastic work here. Good encounters, loved the spider egg idea, though it was kind of easy for my t2 cw. But had some good elements. not much for story, but i assume that's not what you were going for. One thing: there's a part of the story where the quest objective just says "lost keep" not sure if it's a typo or something, but seemed rather vague, maybe "head upstairs?" Overall great dungeon delve.
Glad you liked it, yea I still suck at finding a good balance for mobs as I don't have a lvl 60, as per the objective, I will look into it. I suspect it's probably a map transition. As I have been making the ruined temple (which I am trying to make mostly story) I have been thinking of new things story wise to add to the keep. Like a bit more back story on the ghosts, the thief, and the count himself. Plus playing with the idea of making the next quest in the story nearly all story. Already have an idea of what is going to happen.

Good dungeon crawl. Nice intro/scenery. Might want to raise the glyphs on the Magus, somehow I got stuck on them (dwarf character). Good build-up to final battle and nice sequencing on the final battle itself. Nice dialog with the final boss.
If a tree falls in a virtual forest, how big is the sound file?

It's a classic dungeon romp with plenty of combat to keep things interesting. I liked the dynamic of lighting the torches (and I felt compelled to do so, though at times I wondered why since they kept spawning enemies to fight... glutton for punishment, I guess...). The final battle was a bit much for a Level 60 Cleric; the constant respawning of the Count, along with the other creatures (stacked encounters are a turn-off for me) became a bit wearisome, as if the "boss" fight was going on a bit too long. (I was ready to be done by the time the Bone Golem showed up.)
I'm not sure why the girl I rescued was headed to Waterdeep instead of Neverwinter, though it's possible I missed something earlier in the story.
I will look at the critters again, but it is one of the things i was going to revamp this weekend. Burkhard should have mentioned she was kidnapped while he was returning from Waterdeep. I will have to check to see it's still there after I edited last time, and she makes mention of an estate in Waterdeep; that her father is only in Neverwinter to try and carve out a business.

Sorry thalazar1 but I couldn't finish it. I tried to solo it with a level 43 rogue, but there were just too many monsters and they were too hard to kill. The spiders where the first to overwhelm and kill me. Then the Magus and his guards killed me again. I gave up then.
I like fair fights, this wasn't! I can see the work you put into this, but I really think you need to tone the difficulty down a bit, or put a disclaimer in the description that the mission is not solo friendly.
Sorry to be negative, but this mission really frustrated me.
This mission has great potential, and I'd really like to try it again, but I thought I'd give a little more feedback and a few suggestions.
At the start of the mission, I missed the corpse remains (they were inside the campfire circle and I couldn't see the sparklies) maybe you could move them a bit further down the track so they're easier to spot.
Encounters; (this is purely from a rogue's perspective) as mentioned before, I got into trouble with the spiders. The problem was, I would stealth, attack, drop a decoy and then dodge away. Unfortunately, this seemed to trigger more spawns, so instead of one spawn to fight, I now had two. It was simply too much for me to handle.
The Magus and his guards; These devils all felt like elites to me and they all had AoE attacks. As a rogue, I needed to be able to dodge away from the red, but I was fighting in a corridor and I just didn't have enough room to maneuver. So maybe just the Magus could have an AoE attack?
Well, that's as far as I made it. I just wanted to give some constructive feedback as to why I failed to complete the mission. As I said, I would really like to try it again, but the difficultly is a bit too high for my rogue at the moment. Maybe a different class would find it easier.
Anyway, I hope this is useful to you. You've got the makings of a real gem here, I'd really like to be able to finish it
the little spiders are meant to be a bit of a challenge, though i will have the mage's ghost explain them a bit more. there are about 23 eggs only 8 actually spawn spiders, though all will explode. the area the activate them is roughly the size of the large egg. both sides of the room there is a way to avoid the eggs altogether, though it is recommended you kill a few so you have room to move against the queen and her mates.
As per the magus, only one familiar is supposed to spawn and be easily one hit-able. the others in the encounter (its an easy rated encounter with 5 mobs, 4 of which I have moved) should spawn into a nearby room full of elite guards. I have not seen more then one spawn but will look at the maybe removing the minion as it doesn't really do much. when i play the fight in all classes it barely gets its text out before dying.
as per the encounter difficulties I don't know what else to say, everything on the map is easy or standard. the only brutes are the bone golem (boss fight) and the nightshade walker (dungeon hidden boss)
*edit* the skeleton will be moved, I have started to open up the beginning area a bit to feel a bit more like a road while still being over grown.

Running this again because it was awesome. And I really want to be able to review it.
First time I think the ending bugged out on me though. Without spoiling anything: After the fight the boss switched to non-combat and told me I won then faded away. But my quest was still to defeat the boss and its minions. But there was nothing left to kill.
I think i know what may have happened. I made 3 of the 5 archers spawn in a room full of guards so you only have to fight 2. left the archers as is but removed the requirement from the quest so you only have to kill the count, in-case something happens to the archers again and they don't die.
*edit* just republished

Yeah, thats probably it. I just finished my second run. Found a third archer at half health in the room close to the start of that level behind the boss fight room. When I finished it off the quest completed. Again, the mission is great. Loved it.
I'm going to try it again, but this time with a lower level character. I think my level might be the problem, I've noticed the higher my level gets, the harder the missions become. Missions that I completed with ease at level 20, are now giving me a lot of grief at level 45.

I left the room and wandered around twice. Third time back into the room woke him up.
Maybe expand the marker that spawns him ?
Might be I was not on that special spot the first two times and no marker ring to focus on, so..
Overall a fun run, and interesting puzzles. Good work.
