When an epidemic ravaged the metallic dragons of the Copper Mountains in the Year of True Omens (1409 DR), several survivors fled south, crossing over the dark eaves of the Great Wild Wood.
The town or village Phannaskull was renamed Skalnaedyr when the dragon with the same name became the first dragon prince. It is said that Skalnaedyr alighted on Phannaskull due to some draconic illness. The village ataman of the said village thought to protect his people by offering obeisance to the dragon.
To show his respect, the ataman immediately changed the name of the town to Skalnaedyr.
