I'm a real newby (one character, just reached level 40!), but what made me choose this MMO over all the others is the Foundry. I've done two so far - and I'm the only one to run them as far as I know. The first is a 1960s/70s music quiz (NW-DK428GD46) that'll probably be at least 25 mins long, so I won't offer that one for this. The other should just about be short enough:
Trouble Down On The Farm
Shortcode: NW-DG2QSR7K4
Mission type: Combat/Search
Duration: 15-20 mins
I just finished my second foundry mission and I am currently uploading it to the server. Once I have the information and shortcode, I will post it here. This map is intended for solo play originally (co-op should also work, went through several hurdles to make sure it could work that way). The dungeon exploration varies depending on your class skill (Dungeoneering, Thievery, Nature...., religion, and arcane), so replay is encouraged. The aimed time to complete should be in the 15-20 minute range, less if you know exactly the solutions for each class (and multiplayer speeds it up considerably). Most of the first dungeon can be completed with little to no fighting - if done correctly.
Disclaimer: I do intend to add to it though, and it is lacking in detail in a few areas. This is the first "beta" release of this foundry mission. I made it in mind of the desired 15-20 minute range to have it qualify for daily while being short and interesting.
Teaser of the end
Status: Uploading... It may complete before I update this thread again. You may want to rush it before others get to it first.

I have the same concept in the one i'm working on right now, well.. One hallway twisting ^^ Looks good!
Edit: Think i'll even up a pic on mine when i'm done with it. (in an hour or two. The details are a pain with the rotation.)
I just published my first quest: "Danger in the Fog." I hope you like it!
Short Code:NW-DUXO7DEP9 Mission Type:save a village; brief cavern crawl Duration:15-20 minutes Amount of Combat:moderate (a bunch of "easy" encounters and a couple of "standard" encounters)
The adventure actually began as my study of how the Foundry works and what can be done with it. I spent a great deal of time crafting the village setting and adding in a lot of visual detail, hoping that I will reuse it in future adventures.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by griefing? I don't think authors set out to troll or grief players doing their foundry mission. I personally didn't spend 50+ hours learning and tweaking and messing with my mission to grief people.
Stacking encounters automatically disqualifying you seems a little weird. I've purposely put two stacked encounters into my mission to punish players for not paying attention to their surroundings and talking to NPCs (and actually paying attention to the quest text). Both of the stacked encounters are easily bypassed.
The third stacked encounter I put in is for the challenge, two elite ogres. Is it too hard to kill two elite ogres or something? Should I change it to one ogre because it's too hard for the average player?
Some feedback would be appreciated.
This isn't the place for an argument like that, take it in PM imo. - And dzogen's competition, and so dzogen's own choice what to do, and when to do it. (Bump for thread!)
Lost Painting of a Lost Land Short code:NW-DR72P7WEN Mission type: Fight your way through a small house and get the loot. Duration:5-7 minutes with travel from outside to Moonstone Mask Description:
Short adventure for dzogen's "Beta Mini-Foundry Competition"
During a night of downtime at the Moonstone Mask, a drunk old sailor was yapping about a lost land called Maztica, saying his ancestor had helped found Helmsport in the far-off land. Nobody believes a drunk old sailor of course. "I have the proof! Well... I used to... until it was stolen me from me! I tell ya, I had proof!" You tried to ignore his ramblings but then your eyes met... "You! You look like the adventuring type! Maybe you help me set this right! Come meet me tomorrow here at this same hour!"
With nothing planned that day, you set out to meet the old man...
The module is now up and ready for testing (0.5.1, if you see 0.5.0 - do not touch it). Please be aware there are likely to be some bugs, such as one I hopefully squashed just now that popped up during the first post-publish test run (it involved the last fight... the boss target warped up onto a top platform during the fight halfway, so I decided to cut that platform out).
Foundry Title: Whispers from Below Shortcode: NW-DTKLZ7B99 Combat: Light early, heavy end.
I have not made a unique thread for this module yet as I originally intended it to be part of this competition, though halfway I started to go crazy with it ... so... we'll see
Update: Additional fixes. Currently uploading 0.5.2 now. Legion likes to spawn in platforms or somewhere else for some reason on published versions - which I believe I found out why now. So I added a precautionary micro objective to time things in instead of everything spawning at once. Also reskinned the appropriate support mobs correctly and named them (Seems I mixed one up)

Not arguing, asking. There's a BIG difference. I'm a little confused by the whole stacking thing. Is it a common thought in the foundry community that stacking is a big no-no? It seems like one of the only ways to make encounters more challenging.
I'm getting the sense that catering to the lowest common denominator is the way to go with foundry quests?
It really depends what and how you stack things, and in which "sense" you do it in. - Not sure about your level nor class but stacking can be really punishing for the player. Elite mobs are probobly something you want to avoid stacking, not always dangerous.. But they take some time to kill. - So it really depends.

Hmmmm, if he is classifying that as stacking violation, then he may find the end to mine a violation as well. The end combat encourages players to have AoE and Singular attack skills (1-2 AoE attacks will kill the decrepit skeletons). Also, you have the option to knock off targets too, which should kill them. If you go blindly into the last fight at any point, you will find it difficult. As for the encounters throughout the dungeon - all are single encounters.
I've finally realized he is looking for quick and easy quests to get his foundry title.
I've been pretty upfront about my reasons for doing this - it's all spelled out under "Why am I doing this" on my main post.
As it turns out, I am not getting any credit for running your beta quests, so now it's just about getting people to try Foundry for me. Not sure if that's a bug or what. And I've run so many general quests, that their are no more achievements for doing that either.
To answer your question, I consider griefing if you do things like make a long quest and then stick the chest in an unreachable place. Anything that makes the quest inordinately difficult or unfun to pull off.
Look guys, I'm trying to do you a favor. 90% of the beta quests I run are totally unfun cuz they're stuck with tons of unfun mechanics. They're too long, or way too hard. I'm not saying my way is the right way, but you got to get the basics down before you can do stuff like stacking, and break these rules, etc.
The #1 thing I think any foundry author should do before making a foundry is to roll a GWF and level him to 60 in game and thru foundry. Then come back and start making foundries.
Im going to be downgrading the last fight from 2 hard + medium to probably 3x medium soon in case you have played it yet or not. I'll want to hear if its "griefish" or not first since I can do it fine. In addition, there is a bug with knocking out monsters, so I am trying to find a singular mob that cant be knocked out in the last fight that is a good replacement. Currently, the boss target is an ogre supported by 2 cleric squads.
So in the end, 2 things:
1. Last fight may be toned down soon from the 2 hard, 1 medium to 3 medium.
2. Ring outs at the end can actually cause problems... for some reason they don't die when they fall 700 some feet... I guess Cryptic added a counter to ring out farms, which in turn is working against the final fight design.
*Edit: Did I just get the 50th without realizing it?
**Edit 2: If you do happen to bug the map, I believe typing /killme or jumping off (generally the same result), and going back to the last camp fire will reset the mob locations. I think... In case anyone is actively playing it.

Well, I think it's an awesome idea. Having finally created my own first Foundry quest, I've gained a whole new appreciation for all the hard work that goes into one of these things. Just tweaking maps to look good -- details that most players might take for granted -- can take hours. (You might not notice that the Author carefully placed that climbing vine on the side of that building, or moved all those pine trees so their roots were properly underground, or spent a long time adjusting the height of that water or lava level so that it works correctly in the terrain, but you'll sure be aware of the maps where the Authors didn't take that time.)
And I agree that a game full of quick, fun Foundry quests is a wonderful thing. So thank you for being generous and offering a little inspiration to create some fun. I know that I've enjoyed the challenge!
I have just updated my map to 0.5.4. This change makes the boss fight revolve around grabbing three wisps to dispel the statues instead of having to kill the guardian waves - which could have been knocked out and could have survived the 700 foot drop.... This would result in glitching.
Legion, the final boss (ogre), can still be knocked out and glitched that way if he survives. I am trying to find a substitute for legion (an elite/brute that can not be crowd controlled, if there are other monsters in his "encounter", they also have to be crowd control immune). If anyone has any suggestions for the legion replacement, let me know. Happy beta testing!
You have 6 + 1 (original posts), so subtract 6 from the total post count. This does not include short spam comments and double postings into account. So it would have been Janewlis, if you count ?????.... So.... what do you consider what? ;p
Im more interested in feedback on the foundry mission I've been making (and fixing).
Edit: Actually, its 1 + 5 + that last one. It depends on the order. So "subtract" 5 for any post count before yours, 6 after it. I'll let you consider how many spam posts count ;p. It would be crok2 if you count his spam posts ;p

I count 6 posts from you so that would make #56 the winner, I think?
So I read what you said and tried out my dungeon with a low-level GWF. I see now how stacking encounters isn't very much fun, it's more tedious than anything. I've gone through and removed all my stacked encounters and I am waiting for it to republish now.
Thanks for having patience with me, I kind of overreacted when I saw I was disqualified for "griefing".

You're fine. Didn't mean to come across harsh. Try running it with a high level GWF. That is pain.
