Portal events unfair

The problem is, you only get loot if you KILL the mob. I see AOE toons standing on the portal, and 1 hit kill all the mobs, and no-one else gets a chance. Again, with the hulks, which get owned by TR's. The problem is way too many people on way too few portal nodes.. Average population of 60 and only 6 nodes means 10 people for every node. If I'm super lucky, and get to a 40 man instance, I may get 5-10 drops, but the lvl 60 AOE (GWF and CW) tend to get far more loot than normal people. Make it so if you HIT the mob, you get loot, don't make it 'who kills it' get's the loot.. The farmers are out in force, and make the event seem unfun for everyone else. To fix it, open up 4 times as many portals, to spread people out, so everyone get's a chance

I get loot regardless of if I kill the mob.

Ive gotten loot just for passing by a fight. I was still on my horse when a box landed at my feet. Im not sure how much fairer it can get.

    Nerf horses.

Also, as a CW, I feel bad that I am black-holeing one group of mobs while blowing up a second group in range and not even having to move as I watch other people desperately attempt to get a hit in, running around.

However, like many things wrong with this game, it's Cryptic's design, people do what works, and this "event" is simply designed, and caters exclusively to, AoE dmg dealing (using instant-use powers if possible, as fast as possible).

That's how they designed it broham.

Well if by loot you mean enchantments yeah those seem easier to get. From what I can tell though to get the bag of bones, which only seem to drop from Hulks, you either need to kill them or do the most damage not quite sure.

I don't know I get 4 bags usually with my 57 cleric and tons of enchantments, my guild mate ran with me today and she is 37 rogue, she was getting same as me and sometimes 5 bags. I know they fall off the Hulk but not sure how it works the kill or most damage not sure.

I have a lvl 19 cleric and spam seal stuff appears at your feet. Some chains thrown in. I did it just to see if it was unfair to "healers".

On the other side of the coin. I was on an instance last night with 11 people on it. Me and my party mate were the only two people at the portal and we got slammed. DC and TR (granted I didn't have AS in my bar at the time) and we both died at least four times each before the portals closed. Three or four people per portal seems optimal as long as you don't have a CW spamming singularity or the other one that sends shards of ice up through the ground (can't remember what it's named off the top of my head) It doesn't kill them but, much like in a dungeon it scatters the mob all to hell and back. Out of courtesy*** I try NOT to use my sunburst with divinity because it does the same thing. I find that even firing randomly into the mob with lance of faith I still manage to get quite a few drops unless, as I said there's a CW spamming singularity...then the mobs just kind of disappear before they even get out of the ground...I'm not sure *anyone* is getting drops from those TBH. Dunno if it was a troll or not in zone but someone mentioned Arcane Singularity eats drops. :/

***note that "courtesy" is not a strong point during these mobs most of the time. This is not what you'd call a "team building exercise".

You could end up fighting everything by yourself. That's fun.

I've been jumping in with a low level toon(26), you can be certain I'm not the one killing all the mobs yet I've acquired a ton of runes and a couple bags of bones. Will take me a while at this pace to get enough bones to buy even one normal dog. Hoping to see a blue dog drop and also hoping the drop rate wasn't nerfed with the patch.

I think they just don't always drop a bag of bones. Claiming them works the same as anything else.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I said a box dropped at my feet. The boxes that look like the nightmare chests. Those are the bone bags. And yes, i got one just for being near a fight, doing nothing more then sitting on my mount.

Now, perhaps damage increased ones odds. Perhaps it has an effect. But to say it is the only way to get a box to drop is untrue.

Maybe a CW will chime in on whether they have 20 bags on the ground?

Weird. I don't know how it's determined then unless it's truly random. I've used another character (GF) and didn't get any bags at all whereas with cleric I usually get 2-3.

My theory is bags drop according to damage dealt and the amount of damage accords the level of enchant you get, for example if I throw a lance and hit something once I get a level 1 enchant drop, if I do significant damage or kill it I get a level 3 or 4 drop (this is JUST a theory). As for the bag of bones...I'm fairly sure they come off of the Hulk but I don't know how it awards those if it's by most damage done or purely random. *shrugs*

*edited to clarify that I tend to stand between mob spawn points and throw my lance of faith into the mob randomly hitting things and tossing forgemaster's flame out when I can manage to target the Hulk from where I'm standing. If we're just a small group I'll spam Astral Shield and Sunburst to keep everyone healthy. I stopped using chains when the AoE from CWs just left them lying on the ground and I decided I needed AS back in my bar :P

Yup, hulk can drop the bag regardless of your damage. I managed to get one without hitting it too (I was busy running away from archers).

At level 60 clerics actually have the fastest casting AoEs and with low cooldowns. But from other people's posts it seems you don't have to do much at all to get loot.

Eh, I've been running around low-mid population portals with my TR. On the spawns further away from the main site, I can do majority/all the damage to many of the mobs. Still get mostly rank 1 & 2 enchants, rarely a 3. Never a 4.

(As for bags... first day, when it was super crowded, I got 2-3 bags a portal. Now, with less competition and getting good damage on more mobs? 0-1 bags, plus the one from the end reward. RNG is RNG.)

Why don't people who are complaining just use a level 30 something (or even lower) and afk near a portal. You get drops without even attacking.

Also, all classes are equal and truly balanced now because of the balance-patch. There's no more unbalance maybe try using different skills because each class has equal chance, opportunity to kill. No class has advantage as the balance-patch fixed everything.

With main TR its great practice for rapid movement.. Running a striker pet. Throw a dagger to protect a cleric if needed..I see those green heals popping.

While my main is a CW, I've run these on each of my 5 toons. The drops are random. Period. I don't get any more or less on my heavy-hitting AoE CW than I do on my mid-level GF and GWF. I've had Bags of Bones drop off the "trash" mobs, as well as the Hulks. While the AoE classes may be a bit more efficient, there is a pretty even chance for any class to get drops.

FWIW, it was my mid-level TR that got my 2nd (yes, 2nd) Blue Skeletal Dog. From a random BoB drop. Sooo...there ya go.

Nearly 150 bones. Enough savages to make a few Rank 7s. And not one single blue puppy. The RNG hates me!

I can relate to how you feel, in many MMOs during limited time events I was the person who didn't get the special items due to RNG.

I've tried different classes, same chance at drops it seems. Last portal on Coriol Street saw two rogues, including myself, killing all the mobs. Not a high number of drops. :(

I guess my question for the OP is "How do you know people are getting tons more than 5-10 drops?"
That seems average to me and I'm doing AoE.

my cw get usually 1-2 bags of bones.three at most.yes, there is a bunch of enchants on ground, but they are usually level 1 or 2.tonight,i have gotten couple portals solo and no huge difference in drops, maybe less, when it comes bag of bones.my level 60 cw does not one shot mobs consistently,so results may differ.
