I want to see ranked arenas and a 3v3 would be nice too, but I believe that different PvP groups like 5v5 / 3v3 / etc should be implemented only when they see enough players in PvP to support a division.
I just feel sad for so many PvP Haters still around.
Wow, I was under the assumption that this game already had 2v2/3v3 PvP game types.
I guess I won't be playing this game after all.
If they ever implement it, I'll be the first one back though. Lol.
Please for the love of god NO. Arena's ruined PVP for PVE players in Wow. They were just bad bad bad bad. Arena's were about the point where Wow really started going down hill.
WE NEED A RANKED SYSTEM and WE NEED 3v3 + other types of PvP.

Sadly arenas are all ready coming down the pipe. You don't see it any more but before open OB you could see on the Events thing one for arenas. This game does not need arenas. Even more so with the current set up. As a few people said you will either see a team full of rogues are a team full of clerics at the top.

think about it.
did CO and STO have ranked matches?
Was pvp extremely borked in CO?
Without competitive PVP system the company would be losing a whole niche of customers. It's very easy to add and doesnt stop you guys from killing your dungeons over and over. So why do you care? If you suck and don't want to get stomped. Don't join... Keep killing your animated dragons with little to no AI. It's super hard bro.

So I ask you the question.. why do we need this? Why are we talking about this? We only have 5 classes, not even the basic 8 yet. Let's take a minute to think about what you guys are asking for.
How do we balance teams that are less than 5v5? < You can't. People will find the most broken composition, abuse the **** out of it, then those classes will get "fixed" and **** up regular PvP and probably PvE for the rest of us.
How do we reward players? Gear? With some kind of PvP stat right? Oh, you play ranked, that means your gear's gonna have to be better than anyone elses. Stat Advantages given to players who abuse the system then go into normals and stop other players because they do X% Damage and take X% Less Damage. Then we get old players overly stomping new players.
How do we create this? Oh.. you want to take away what little development resources Cryptic has right now to develop, maintain, balance, and oversee a niche game-type within PvP itself? I doubt many people will agree with that.
It's fine to have dreams, but put your dream of ranked PvP into perspective, and how/why it would fit in this game. Neverwinter needs a lot of things like right. Improved support and expansions for the Foundry. More classes. Improved dungeon boss fights. Paragon paths. More skills. Actual character customization, more gear options, and more support to the RP community (Player housing, more emotes, character interactivity). Do we really need some sort of cheapened PvP system that puts a number next to your name?
Arrows and Blades do not have names on them.
They are addressed, "To whom it may concern.."

There are games that focus entirely on ranked and competitive PVP and do quite well at it. As pvp is not focal point of this game, nor has it ever been in PWE produced games, it is not likely to become what people are asking for. Why not PVP in games that are built for great PVP and come here for PVE?

I completely agree, I ONLY play games to pvp. I also agree with you though that the basic foundation of the game should be set well before the PVP is implemented.

I came here to PvE yes, but once I found out there was already a solid foundation for PvP and that it was fun and could easily be made into competitive pvp, made me really happy. As I stated in the first post, don't want this discussion to turn into PvE players crying about PvP. If you like PvE then why do you care about what happens in PvP or what they add, every class had like 5 abilities they eventually use, it's not hard to balance. This game could easily do 3v3 arenas with ranked and add some sort of even tournament features in the future with a spectator mode. This game has it out of most mmos with PvP. I would love to see them continue off it and maybe even add more pvp gear and eventually hopefully make better looking sets of gear as well.
How exactly? 'cus the devs actually had to attempt (and fail) to balance they're game? Wouldnt want that 10% dmg nerf to X ability want to nerf you too hard against that boss you've had on farm for weeks now would we. XdddDDDDdddDd
I hope they are going to come up with more and better PVP maps and systems, and I really hope they come up with arenas with ranked system too... Because PVP is one of the main issues I look for in a MMORPG
