Is this that flooded market I was reading about a few weeks ago? Or am I out of date. In my day a basic +1 Sword sold for 1,000 GP A players +1 sword (at our table) was bought for 1/2 that. I sol a +2 Great Sword for less than 2 silver!
I should be rich with all the +1 or +2 items I have sold to date. The game is Wild on Monty Haul XP but Ebeneezer with the money!
OH lerdocix you forgot, in table top game a magical +1 sword was super rare to get, and unless your DM was really generous mine wasn't.. you'd probably never get a magical sword without great risk of life! Perm. death being the risk for that +1 sword :P
Because its a MMO game, not tabletop.
It doesn't make sense to make tons of money off a low level green item that drops everywhere all the time.
I have hardly played other than solo. with a few delves and a few nights gaming with my daughter and her friends. I don't see how it being an MMO would reduce a 1,000GP sword to 56CP. When a Lvl 60 Sword costs me 200,000 AD! Heck even 10 gold would be close to fair! My thief has just topped Level 24, and I have just under 3 gold in my pouch! Treasure in this game sucks!

3 gold ha I have 11gold lvl 26 though, but honestly gold has only one use in this game. Is there another use other then buying healing potions?

I feel ya. The thing is that, sadly, the loot in NW is nothing like in d&d. The mobs drop green items, enchantments and potions like mad. Blue items are almost as good as green items. And as it happens in all the mmo's the epics which appear at higher level are amazing and render everything else useless.
The stat's mean something completely different in NW than in d&d in terms of how they benefit the character.

Gaming over 30 years. I have never made so little cash in a game ... ever.
Let's assume you had 50g instead of 3g, what would you spend that gold on? Gold is almost useless and certainly isn't needed in large quantities specially after you get your horse.

How come in Zimbabwe I can sell a loaf of bread for $370.00 but in the US it's only $1.00? Not fair!
According to the official D&D 4.0 edition ruleset One (1) Astral diamond is worth about 10,000 gold pieces. Astral diamonds are so valuable because they are used to make magical items (they are in fact pure concentrated magic in physical form). Also Astral diamonds emit a small amount of 'Residum' per day and mages collect them to make magical items. They are the most commonly accepted form of payment for a planeswalker.
100 copper = 1 silver
100 silver = 1 gold
100 gold = 1 platinum (it used to be 10)
100 platinum = 1 astral diamond
TBH there's too much AD going around in this game it's ridiculous. In PnP D&D AD are so rare and valuable most people only have a few of them. Owning even a single astral diamond means you are filthy filthy rich.
And to top it all off most magical items are worth less in this game. I can't believe I'm throwing away a Long sword +5. If you have that kind of monty python type of campaign it's a disaster of epic proportions.
Think of green items as nonmagical goblin garbage weaponry. Or think of 1 copper as worth a bunch of gold pieces. Either one works. .... if you think of the junky items as junky, a low value makes sense. Or if you prefer to think of junk as godly, then adjusting your mental image of the value of a copper piece works too. That makes a 50 copper item really worth 50000 gold, its just that copper is worth a TON in this world right now. ???
Or think of it as a post-gold society. Real life example works here. At one time, a substantially large gold coin was "only" worth a few dollars. Today such a coin is worth many hundreds from the metal value alone (more for antiquity reasons is ignored here). Neverwinter MMO is hundreds of years after NWN, perhaps we have, like in the US today, 200 years of inflation to blame!

Did they put AD in D&D 4.0? Long Sword +5... That was something like 50,000 GP to buy. I'd get 3 SP and 40CP! The exchange rate here is awful.

In Krynn, Preacious metals were devalued because war and the need for more weapons! Just sayin.
Maybe we should be allowed to trade for Zen or AD instead of Gold.

that's another thing, how is it that green is MORE COMMON than white?
just because it's higher level gear doesn't mean it deserves to be green when that makes only 1% of the drops white.
green means... uncommon? as in, "NOT" a common drop.
It's funny how gold is more valuable than astral diamonds here.

Gold is used for potions (you will need a ton at 60), injury kits, mount, companions, and some crafting materials. Yes, unless you constantly loot and win greens in dungeons, you will run short. But don't worry, you can buy zen, to buy ad, to buy overpriced healing potions from the auction house. (don't do this)
Don't listen to these people. The game is ruined by the bad balancing, farming, exploits. Gear has flooded the market. It's all about Cryptic sucking every dollar possible, to the detriment of the game, out of us players.
TL : DR? Then don't waste my time responding.

Even though you has supposedly gaming for over 30 years, you're obviously new to MMO gaming.
Welcome to the internets, me shall be your guide today.
