Mimics, and their deadly Cause Lag ability.

I'm sure I am not the only one who has seen this. Game is running fine, no issues, your computer can easily handle it... and then someone opens a chest that turns out to be a Mimic, and you spend the fight watching the screen jerk as if it were wading through molasses.

Though I would certainly hope the devs are aware of this issue and are looking into it, I am assuming that their focus is on other issues, which is understandable, however the Mimic issue is not just a single player, or even several. It seems to be happening to practically everyone.

The devs are listening to our concerns. Honestly, I LOVE the Mimics. It's one of those mobs that is just plain FUN. But the overwhelming lag that suddenly crashes down when a Mimic comes to life has myself, and I'm sure many MANY others not having fun with them, but rather dreading if one is come across because of the lag.

The point of this post is hoping the devs are aware of the issue and are trying to figure out the issue, but assuming that they may not be aware of it - the best way to raise an eyebrow is to have my fellow players that are also seeing this issue reply. Of course, the devs could respond themselves on here that they are aware of the issue, which would be great, but again, assuming they don't - anyone who is also having this issue please feel free to reply to this thread so if needs be, we can raise an eyebrow and get this issue looked into.

I don't lag on mimics. I run everything on the highest setting. one thing I do do for PvP and Dungeons is turn of all AA though. (cause I would get a wee bit of lag with it on when grouped)

I have the same issue, whenever I find a chest, I dread that it maybe a mimic. My computer can handle the game just fine but when I find a mimic I lag real bad that I can barely fight anymore. I don't know if the devs are looking into this.

Not to help with your lag, but if your cursor doesn't turn into a loot icon, it's a mimic. At least you can avoid poking them that way.

Thought it was just me. My computer can generally handle maxed graphics on everything without lag (exceptions: crystal-cave parts of the Cloak Tower, some of the Spellplague dungeon), but once a mimic gets opened, it goes from perfectly fluid to a slow slideshow for me, which hurts everyone when you're the group's DC.

When playing solo the mimics aren't as bad and it's still playable with mild lag, but in a dungeon or skirmish the lag is so bad I can't move at all until somebody else manages to kill the mimic. I love the mimics, but they sure don't love my laptop.

Idk if its really related, its just what i did and at least for me it worked fine, since i had the very same problem in other Cryptic games (namelly STO and CO).

Under the Details section, in the Video tab, theres a slider named 'Max Physics Debris Objects'. Turning it to 0 (zero) have solved the issue to me. It may not work to everyone, be warned. Anyways, i hope it helps.
