You start out on this page when you choose to buy zen:

    sDLc6EE.gif

Then after you click the UGC you go to this:

    XpDL1bM.gif

Then when you click the amount you get this:
    q2bovjN.gif

Then when you hit checkout you go right to this:

    BNAW5UE.gif

Now I didn't screen shot entering the codes earlier but at this point I got the zen it states on the top of the screen for 50 dollars. If you didn't its something with your locality which perhaps they didn't make you aware of. Or you used the Ultimate Game Card site itself which certainly does look like it will charge you extra.

No you don't get it thats the same process only where it says 50 for you it'll say 51.77 for me, thats what I'm bloody getting at. I don't go to the UGC site I did exactly as you did there only I was was charged extra for it. by UGC. Am I not bloody explaining it right?

I can be at this all bloody day, I'm trying to tell others theres a potential risk.

When I buy another UGC since I still have money on the 5 dollar one I'll screenshot it too is that bloody helps.

here's a similar problem 3 years ago someone had, its still does the same **** thing

Ultimate game cards are a USA thing. Unfortunately when using such items from the USA in Canada they often use this as an excuse to charge you a "fee".

IF you are in Canada you do not want to use these type of items. What you want to do is use prepaid credit cards or paypal etc. Face it becuase we are in Canada we get screwed over and that's just how it is.

Even the car companies do it. Newegg does it etc etc.

Wish I would have seen this before I bought this Stupid F'ing Ultimate Game Card from Future Shop in Canada because same thing happened to me! I have bought ZEN Online before and $20 = $20 I see a promo to get a extra 15% ZEN so I go looking around the city for a game card I find one I buy it $20 ( BTW THERE IS NO TAX ON GIFT/GAME CARDS! I worked in Retail for 16+ Years.) and I go to use it I have to pay an Extra $1.68 (Total $21.68) witch means I didn't get a deal at least not the deal I was told I was getting. It's not that $1.68 is the end of the world but it should be stated in the deal. This will be the last Cent that the PW company get from me ever again! Just because the principle!

BTW: How do I pay the Remaining $1.68? I don't see a Paypal Option? I only see options to buy another $20 WTF! I'm not buying another $20 just to pay $1.68.

Staples, Wal-Mart and Zellers in PEI disagree with you.

In Ontario these are the first payment cards I have ever seen get taxed on redemption, our government does not collect taxes on currency conversion (virtual or otherwise).

You're paying for your Free Health Care System. ;)
Yes, partly this, and for the other social services we have that aren't provided quite so well south of the border. Health care is the biggest one though, by a fair margin. The medical situation in the U.S. is pretty frightening, especially for those in the middle ground that don't qualify for government support but don't make enough to have good insurance. Then again, for the rich it is quite superior to our system. It's an interesting difference in values between the two nations.

    Then there Braking the Law:
Pursuant to section 181.2 of the Excise Tax Act (Canada) (the "GST/HST Legislation), the issuance or sale of a gift certificate for consideration (e.g., money) shall be deemed not to be a supply and, when given as consideration for a supply of property or a service, the gift certificate shall be deemed to be money.
This means that when a vendor sells or issues a gift certificate, no GST or HST is payable because the GST/HST Legislation says no supply has occurred. If there is no supply, there is no event that results in the application of GST/HST. HOWEVER, when a person uses that gift certificate to purchase goods and/or services, the gift certificate is money. The redemption of the gift card for goods or services is a supply for GST/HST purposes.

If that was the case then why would there only be $1.77 extra for a $50 Card and $1.68 for a $20 card? I'm not that good at math but even I know that % is not right for TAX or Exchange rate. Either way $20 UGC is 100% Garbage for Canadians!

I really can't see how you can blame taxes on PWE. That simply does not compute.

I'm in australia and I get hit with the exchange rate plus about 5c per dollar charge. going from Aus$ on my GamecaRD TO US$ for the zen.
for example, $50 of zen cost me $54(and assorted cents)

Same here, in Australia I get the conversion/tax whatever it happens to be. However find it curious that this is the ONLY card I have had this issue with. Other games I play which have cards out there do not do this, and you get the same amount of in game currency as buying online with a credit card.

As am I right there is NO way for me to pay for the $1.68 with out buying another $20 card? Because if so I would rather just sell some one this card for $18. I would rather lose $2 and never buy ZEN again then give my money to UGC or PW after this Scam.

I have noticed the exchange rate is not fixed and on the same day depending opn who is doing the exchange it will vary or like I said it them outright charging a fee.

Anyhoot the lesson here is don't use items, from the usa, like this if you don't live in the usa you will get screwed every time.

Prepaid credit cards or paypal. If you use prepaid credit cards you can send what is left over on them to your paypal.

So I bought a $20 game card today (Australia).

Come home and logged in to get my zen with the card.

Put down $20 card and WHAM - wants $22.32 (card only has $20) - So I have to pay and extra $2.32.

So I break it up into 3 payments.

Transferred $10 worth - got bonus ZEN

then transferred $5 no bonus zen

then I had to pay the extra $2.32 to access my remaining $2.68 on the card - I reluctantly pay - Transferd the Bonus $5 and no bonus Zen

So I payed $22.32 for hopefully a bonus 300 zen and all I get is 150 bonus Zen - lol should not have paid the extra $2.32 because all I got out of it was 36 zen.

So missing 150 zen and out an extra $2.32 - I will never buy Ultimate game Card Again.

I knew I should have checked around before buying one.

If I buy a Steam Card, or like I used to, a Nexon one, it doesn't matter where it's from, I pay the amount (typically 20 bucks) and it's worth 20 bucks full of points. But this? It's asking me to cover the exchange rate. That's BS.

And I don't think it's entirely UGC's fault either. PW is the one who wants the money, yes?
