Outbid on Auction after expiration?

So, I had a bid of 500k in on a Heavy Inferno mount, and I watched the auction tick down to 0 (with me having the winning bid).

After that, the timer continued to count down to around -25 seconds, and then switched to outbid. I tried to bid again to get back on top, but it wouldn't allow me, and sent my refund to my mail.

So, why do auctions not end at 0 seconds? I don't really understand why this happened. Do auctions actually end at -25 seconds? If so, that is confusing and makes no sense.

This game has an anti-sniper auction house. If you bid on an item in the closing minutes, it extends the auction. It does this each time someone bids. I have seen auctions extend for over an hour in some cases.

One of the few good things about this AH if you ask me.

This subject comes up every day. I have lost things the same way. Someone said the other day that only gaurdians can bid in the last minute. If they can bid in the last minute why cant we see them bid ? I haven't seen a mod comment on the subject yet. This is happening to a lot of people you are not alone.

Botters are using the gateway to snipe items. There are members in my guild that do it to farm AD off the AH.

Yup it has anti-sniping feature altho i think it extends the auction for a minute or two every time someone bids. But the problem here is the timer..which doesn't update properly (in the AH or in the Gateway) which causes a lot of confusion.

I have never used the gateway. It will not let me bid in the last minute. If the gateway is the problem it needs to be shut down or have no access to the auction.

So when you see an item on the auction house via the gateway and it doesnt show a time for the duration of the item does that mean its in the negative?

It's a bugged auction. You can't bid or do anything with it.

Well, if bidding at the last minute extends the time, then it didn't work on this one, or did not update for me. I put my first bid in at around 20 minutes left, and set a timer on my phone to remind me to check 3 mins before it ended. When the alarm went off, I was by the post master, so I checked him and had no refund, and went over to the auctioneer. I watched the timer count down, and after it reached -25 it finally changed to outbid, and I was unable to bid.

So if someone DID bid at the last second, or after what should have been the last second, then I was not given a chance to bid again. If they bid a while before that, then it never told me that I had been outbid.
