I had reposted this old tip in a few threads when folks asked. I just hope they actually put it in the ESC key commands.
I like to use: /bind 0 gotocharacterselect Just set the number zero to whatever key you want.

    Great post!

    Great post!

it is a great post, but there is always those types of people that say its bad because you have to wait 15 seconds to exit. so its not as positive on the forum..

Wow. You are seriously my hero right now (zero sarcasm).

I used very long and complex passwords that I normally paste in pw fields. NW of course does not allow pasting, so even a simple task (that seens lost on PW) like switching between characters made be want to just log completely out most of the time.

    Thanks!!!!

Was actually about to do that, so.... :D

(Well, I would have said "well, it's a bit slow since you have to wait. Typing in my password is annoying, but it's still faster to Exit Now and do that. And when you're switching quickly among 8 characters to update their crafting & invokes, waiting that 15 seconds between each one can get tiresome. Can't wait for them to enable the actual Change Character button." :p

I often log in with a copy paste.
Type it in a browser, or some other convenient field, hit Ctrl + C and then Ctrl + V it into the password field - it's why I don't use the gotocharacterselect - it's still faster than the 15 seconds wait time.
I wish they'd just do the same thing that a ton of other MMO's do, if you are in a safe environment like Protector's Enclave, or in one of the camping spots or Inns, your log out is instant - now combine that with a Logout to Character select menu option... :D

oh well, doesn't work in champions

that would have been so useful when doing Nemesis missions for 65 characters

Even better from a thread weeks ago:

/bind 0 "gotocharacterselect" (0 can be replaced with whichever key is convenient for you)

One key logout to character select, simple as that!

xahfar's post, where he has "insert key here", put in the key you want to bind it to.
type that in and your key is now bound
    enjoy

    /bind "0” gotocharacterselect

I tried that but it doesn't work. Says:

[System Notify] "bind" takes 2 argument(s)
    [System Notify] bind <string> <string>

What did I do wrong? The 0 is a zero if that matters.

Try /bind 0 "gotocharacterselect" your quotes are in the wrong place

Why would anyone have to discover this? Why isn't this implemented in the menu, or at least mentioned anywhere ?

I mean this was something you received feedback on regularly, so you make a hidden chat command to do so, and don't tell anyone about it? That sounds so ridiculous.

Thanks... I really hate logging in and out every time I want to play a different character.

Is there any help on all the different / commands in the game?

Still gotta wait 15 seconds for that as far as I know (haven't tried it myself yet). Going to login screen is still faster.

Yeah, no offense but this should not have to be "discovered". It should be default behaviour.

Indeed, it is such a basic function it's hard to imagine how they overlooked it.

I think this just proves that the Community Managers are getting as much communication from the Devs as we are. So its safe to say that pretty much 90% of what they post really means very little.
