Suggestion: Monthy Foundry Competion & Award

Foundry is a really great tool, tho at same time is very limited in order to prevent exploits, ie no chests/craft nodes.

In some ways this limits the overall design and fun factor BUT.....

Suggestion:-
1: Have a monthly competion for the best foundry missions.

2: Winner of the competion gets a special award that can be used to add new things normally not allowed such as 1-2 chests, and 5 craft nodes (one of each), plus maybe some other feature normally excluded (possibly even voice acting?)

3: As soon as the new version is released it gets a special marker that shows its a award winning foundry.

4: Perhaps add a few honory mentions to a few other good ones that month (which could be future winners)
.

Benfits:-

1: It highlight one the best feature of the Neverwinter game that makes it stand out from other MMO's

2: It shows the dev's support the player base and inspire its creativity.

3: Encourages higher quality Foundry mission, which make more fun high quality content for the game.

4: Keeps the game fresh and new as players also play a big role in providing content for the game, and make it awarding to those that make the effort of making something good.

5: May encourage people to keep updating and improving there project in hope they get mention or even win.
.

Possible problems:-

Only one I can think of is if a foundry builder wins and then drastically revamps his map into something of a exploit, ie putting his chests/nodes all at the start....

As a solution to this, perhaps they can go through a cryptic approved process before the re-released version goes live, as they only be 1 per month, this be easier to moderate.

Although we'd all like to have more control over loot and such, I'm not sure that's a good idea for a reward. You don't really want different versions of the Foundry tools out there. If they get enhanced (e.g enabling voice acting options), they should be enhanced for all authors.

But, I think the idea of contest is interesting. It would have to be something other than "best / most popular". We already reward those. There would have to be categories or something, like:
    - best group content
    - best humor
    - best puzzles
    - most original
    - best classic recreation
    - etc

Unfortunately, selecting winners by popular vote just doesn't work very well in an MMO.

They already did this sort of, and I say the Foundry community would be better off without it. If a quest gets popular enough to be featured in any way it does not need to be featured anymore. The devs aren't going to set aside time or hire anybody to play through Foundry missions and regularly spot-light the ones they like. They'll just pick one off the very top of the list every week that everyone has already played. If it's going to be based on popularity, it sort of defeats the purpose IMO, as popular maps are already at the top and clearly known about by anyone who has touched the Foundry.

There already is a Foundry Competion with unique rewards.

It's called having your quest featured.

The reward is an achievement, which lets you get a book imp pet, dungeon master title, a cape with unique graphic on it, and a bear mount.

It is weekly instead of monthly, even better!

I think that having your quest featured is enough of a reward, considering the achievement that you get for it. Giving "winning" authors an enhanced toolset will only serve to stifle creativity in the rest of the community.

As an author with a featured quest, I do not feel that I should have anything more than what everyone else has, ever. I'm not special, I'm just lucky.
There is a rumor floating around that I am working on a new foundry quest. It was started by me.

Those rewards do not require getting featured, though if you manage to reach them you've probably been featured because the tier requires a lot of authoring achievements that you'd need a lot of plays for. Being featured does count for one achievement towards the reward, but isn't required per the faq.
