Will there be a European based mega server?

I ask this because currently I have 200 ping, which isn't that bad in PvE but in PvP it's gamebreaking. Are there any plans to make one?

i dont think so unfortunately, i like the game but this may be the issue that causes me to quit, it makes dungeons frustrating as a tank because i can have the animation to block an attack up in time but because of the ping i still get hit which removes my mark.

No. All players will be on the same server systems.

European lag is not normal on Cryptic's network.
There is no need for a European or any other location specific shard.

I'm from Europe too and I don't have lag, dunno where I can see my exact ping but it doesn't seem to be above 100 ms.

"No. All players will be on the same server systems.

If you are experiencing lag that's not normal. There is no need for a Euopean or any other location specific shard. "

Sorry I don't buy that. Both the non-euro support, and the terrible explanation. "There is no need" you say? EU players pings beg to differ.

If that is what you have to say, its better not to say anything at all.

Wouldn't you consider 200 too high for it to be normal?

well there must be a problem they havent seen yet because this is the first time ive ever had constant lag on a game in the last 6 or so years.

It most likely is. Try /netgraph 1, I usually have a pretty good connection myself, but it doesn't ever get better then 150 in this game.

Would really like another post from ambisinisterr. 200+ ms with that kind of action system is really not good enough to be standard.

It's not for me to say.

I'm simply saying there will not be a dedicated European Shard. The lag you experience should be minimal.
Rubberbanding and other such issues are not normal for Cryptic's Network.

I'm from the Central Europe and I didn't experienced any lags or rubberbanding. Oh, there was one exception, when servers were going down, and that's all. So in my opinion there's no need.

That's a real shame. Most respected american MMOs have dedicated servers located in Europe, since the playerbase over there is so huge.

The least you could do is make an America situated mega server for Europeans, so that people in Europe don't have such huge disandvantage in PvP.

The hints for lag is not like in other MMOs. Your animations will show off like there is no lag at all, but the damage lags after. Also you have less time to get out of enemy abilities.

    Hey,

I'm from Austria central Europe and I'm requesting an European server because PvP doesn't make fun anymore due to the high latency in the game.

I didn't have a problem with the latency during the first weeks of the beta, but since a while it is almost unplayable.
For example as a Rogue, sometimes u have to be accurate to a tenth of a second to hit anything.

Often opponents dodge unharmed after they got clearly hit... sometimes my flying daggers and my daggers in the first place don't have any effects even if i stand directly in front of the enemy... the list goes on and on.

It's un-enjoyable and kinda frustrating to play the game this way.

Maybe we can convince the dev's to implement Europe servers, if this thread grows with many pages...
So pls all u fellows in misery share ur opinions here.

I once asked if there were any plans for a EU server.
The response I got (nothing official) was that there was no chance for a EU server.

And yes, I suffer the exact same as you do (and many many others). Weird thing is some EU players have no or much less lag.

I play with 180-220 ms latency in game, for PvE it's frustrating, I stun some mob and that mob still moves around (massive rubberbanding), for PvP it's almost unplayable.

You have got the launcher option set to EU proxy ? Just checking is all.
    ...............vote for your favourite expansion..........
"Mod 6. Oh my f****** god. It gutted the game pure and simple. And what wasn't gutted was messed up by the poorly thought out new level cap and equip. The game never recovered from that atrocity".
    ..............not this one then.............

If they want to keep their costumers from overseas, they have to improve something.. otherwise people will quit sooner or later. I have exactly the same latency 180-220 ms, i can manage PvE with this handicap though.. well the pirate, thats my only T2 dungen so far, but PvP is a completely different story... just awful.

Anyways I really want a EU server for better latancy would be so great.

even if they fix the lag you'll realize pvp is godawful in this game anyway so i'm not sure why you would bother caring.

I am not sure if they are looking into this or not. However I noticed on twitch today Perfect World EU was playing neverwinter, I could not understand what they were saying though.

You do realize that the way that have set up their shards they are not localized, yes? It's not like Dragon is in the US, and Mindflayer in Asia or something. All shards are made up of server banks both in the US and Europe and wherever else.

Besides that, it has been stated that they're aiming to merge the shards/servers into one huge mega-shard, so that automatically precludes the creation of a region-specific server.

I know it's trite but, since this is Beta they still have some leeway to fix/enable EU/US proxy login servers and, once they do, perhaps you will see your latency go down since you will more reliably be able to use server banks nearer to you.

To be honest though, being in Greece I get about 180-200 ping which is not any worse than I've had in other MMOs and I've had no problems in PvP, or PvE due to lag whatsoever.

I also get around 200ms but it feels like 100 in this game, meaning the lag is not that bad for me atleast although I am picky with that exact issue. Not sure if that's a wrong report of the netstat command or anything but feels better than other mmo's.

The only problem is dodging enemy abilities in pvp, or having skills shown as a register hit when you cast them, but they get dodged by the enemy on that time.

Actually i love Neverwinter's PvP so far, therefor i play it alot.
I think it has a lot of potential, the lack of content and the cheesy rewards at this stage, are a different story.
I hope they'll improve this and deliver fast... but first they should solve the latency issues.
Due to the high latency which occurred form one day to another appox. 2 weeks ago (?) it isn't smooth anymore as it once was, and i loved the PvP for it's smoothness... dunno the other classes though, (except cleric lvl 21) but it makes fun as a Rogue.

it's not that bad, but there are serious balance issues. until those are figured out (until rogs are nerfed taht is..) it's strictly for teh lulz.

but yeah I just do it for the Daily quests

I usually get close to 300ms almost anywhere and in PE it spikes to 700 in some areas.
I dungeons i'm running and i'm getting hit by mobs 5 feet away like... wow, every mob in game has ranged attacks O.o
    [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
I want this class in NW. :o

There was this statement about EU servers:
"No. All players will be on the same server systems.

European lag is not normal on Cryptic's network.
There is no need for a European or any other location specific shard. "

well i didn't even know of the eu proxy setting till i read this thread.

Thought i would just try it, took a few min's to log in , timed out back to login page, guess what timed out again going to char screen - back to login page. After repeating this several times i gave up.

Cant say it inspires me with confidence on this as a method to improve latency playing from Europe if that's what its supposed to do.
