Actually it wont help. Having played other MMORPG for the past 1 decade, gold sellers will spam as many channels as they possibly can, Which means your zone channel and the suggested trade channel. It is also kinda hard to remove gold sellers because if you ban one, another 5 pop up... many MMORPGs are having problems with gold sellers as well, and most just ignore them for example Cabal and Aion.

I don't think the gold spammers are what he's talking about.

I went back and played EverQuest recently. Things have died down a lot, but the one thing you see constantly is that their zone chat is spammed constantly with trades. They have a dedicated trade channel, but nobody uses it because you have to type something like /join trade to use it and see the offers people are posting. It's a source of constant bickering, as people are like "you have a trade channel, use it" then you join trade and see that there are 2 people in trade chat.

If the devs want to put in a dedicated trade channel, I'm fine with it, but it HAS to be on by default, or people won't use it.

The difference between Neverwinter and EQ will come down to the report spam system. You get enough reports here and you are silenced from all chat. If they add an official trade channel (whether it is on by default or not), even more people will report for trade spam in zone chat.

With the AH down a lot, and people selling stuff for gold... I try to ignore it in zone. They need a place to sell. Unless they a just being stupid. I hope they add a trade channel so I can start ignoring them all without worrying about getting people chat banned.

Zone chat is a chat for the zone you are in. What else would you talk about there? ... The Auction House is located their... trading typically takes place there. I really hope your not one of those people expecting some epic RP in zone chat.

However. I would like to /zone in main city be "removed" and replaced with /rp ... /trade ... /general .... and /LFG. That would be helpful overall... not just making a trade channel.

if there was a TRADE channel and a LFG Channal then one can hope youd cut some of the chat out and focus the channals for there would be less LF GF and DC for CN in the trade channel and less WTS [RARE OBJECT] for Gold in the LFG channel letting people focus a bit on what zone was made for...recruiting for guilds and asking where the mailbox is.

but you are right Gold farmers will spam every channel they think people might listen to heck people recruiting for guilds will spam every channel also hence why I didn't recommend they get a channel.
as for RP rpers generally use area/emotes or global channals

Does it really matter? People are going to spam zone either way, because they know people will see it. No one cares about a trade channel, there's already an Auction House that these same spammers are not using to sell their goods.

The very fact they're spamming zone chat means I will never buy their stuff. If I'm shopping, I go to the store. Big surprise there, right?

It's just especially bad right now because the AH is up and down constantly.

If they add an official Trade channel, I'm sure anyone still posting trades in Zone would be chat banned fairly quick. I know I'm tired of it, but as I tried to say before. It just feels wrong getting them banned before they have someplace else to spam. I'm sure plenty others feel the same way.

They should just implement the ability to have a character based shop up. I rather see 100 shops sitting around selling items, than 100 players spamming zone chat while in town. But that's just me.

at the very least, implement some sort of "per minute" type posting. it's just a constant barrage of spam and I can barely keep up

The trouble is even if trade people only post once a minute there are so many of them the effect is a collective spamming of the channel. A trade channel is needed and draconian punishments imposed on traders posting outside of it. That leaves the gold spammers but recently even they are swamped by the player trade posts.

I have the player trade channel on but the only post I've ever seen is a trader saying the population was too low to post in.

All of the posts there are about these same issues, I just figured out that we're coming at it the wrong way. [As much as I hate it] If people refuse to use trade channels for trade and lfg/m channels for lfg/m.... we should make a talking channel. Then we can go in there and just abandon zone chat permanently. It will filter the lazy and the under-informed shouters from Talky Town.

Anyone who posts LFG/M or WTT/S/B in Talky Town can have some 24 hour mute, courtesy of the people who left zone chat for them to burn.

WoW had lfg, trade, general etc channels. Most everyone used the trade channel for LFG, trading, etc. It always got spammed because it was one of the channels that normally didn't get turned off. Currently, I have a tab set up that I enable when I get to PE. It disables zone chat. It is just too spammy in that zone. To the point I can't see a friends message or anything said in group. Shut, it spams so much in that zone, I can't even read what is being traded it flies by so quickly.. lol.

They'd just follow you to the new channel.

It's spammers all the way down.

Problem with this is it would also effect all channels. Would you like team or guild chat time limited? I'd go with a trade channel but I don't think that there is a way to force spammers to use it that Crypitc would implement.

That's the nub. Any effective fair solution would require enough support staff to cover all themajor languages, available 24/7 365, to monitor posts and review the auto-bans. That would be expensive considering it would have to cover STO also. It's just cheaper and easier for them to do what they've always done. Let the animals fight it out among themselves.

A trade channel won't help, even if it is used properly (or even automatically as soon as you link an item in Zone chat). Either the auction house needs to support multiple currency types or trades, or we need a "Players Shop" setup, where players can list items for non-standard currencies and couple that with a ban linking to items in Zone chat.

    There is a trade channel

    > NWOTrade <

Problem is, it's game-wide, not server-wide. So you need to specify which server you are on (dumb).

The ability to sell in either AD or gold on the AH would be a very cool idea. If difficult to do in one AH :copy paste the first ones code and change currency to gold.

There is no arguing this. Something should be done...All that spam and at this point all that spam is in vain because everyone has turned Zone off in PE because of all the spam.

I see new players asking the simplest of questions just needing a little bit of help or guidance or something answered just getting completely buried. It has to be very frustrating to them.

I go out of my way to sent them /tells and be helpful but I'm sure 99% of these poor guys never even get a response.
