I see a lot of negative posts towards the game and developers in here and just wanted to say... good job thank you for bringing us this free to play game with respectable graphics and rich story lines.... to the trolls yes I payed a decent sum of money to this game, not because I had to but because I wanted to reward the hard work of the devs... again good job and please keep up the hard work to make this game as great as I suspect it can be.

That's your opinion. To me the dev's deserve no praise and deserve none of my money. Exploit after exploit, some that have been around for a month. Poor class balance, poor skirmish/dung finder, refusal to put up European servers, poor communication. I like to support devs of the games I play, in this game though even though I am having fun, I have no faith in Cryptic.

I am not sure if u remember the beginings of almost any mmo or online game lets just look at Diablo 3 for example lots of bugs and exploits.... WoW at launch... bugs and exploits its late but cant think of any others
Like allways, there a lot of people thing's to be better then other. If you are so pro rzepakman, do your application to the PW and ask for a job as a dev, since you are better then them.

Agreed. I can be harsh and I tend to point out a lot of things I consider flaws. But overall I am having a blast playing Neverwinter. Thanks, and keep up the good work Devs.
Yeah, keep up the good work. I have been rather active on the forum for a while now, but a lot of the negativity is sort of pushing me away. it is a great game, it just needs time to get better. ofcourse most of the negativity is from people not interested in the game anymore and just complaining because they have nothing better to do. People are harsh to criticize the game for when it just came out even though they don't believe it is a beta or not. doesn't really matter if it is or not, just that it is new and needs fixing. nothing different from that compared to other mmo's.

Beta, or in this case Open Beta does not mean anything today. This is a soft launch. I am a game tester I know what a game in true Alpha or Beta states looks like. A gamer will never for the most part take part in anything that is truly an Alpha or a Beta. What you get these days with MMO's are promotional Beta's and Stress Test's.
Also this trend of defending a game by comparing it to for example the WoW launch needs to stop. WoW is I think 8 years old. It was a different world back then. WE SHOULD have higher standards by now. Not only that, you cannot compare an Open World MMO to and Instanced game like Neverwinter. If you use WoW as an example of a poor launch, why not Anarchy Online, or go all the way back and use Ultima Online as an example.
I don't really get why people feel the need to attack other's who do not agree with them. Do I want this game to fail? Of couse not, that would be silly. I find this game enjoyable but so far Cryptic has shown me time and again that they are pretty bad when it comes to quality control, or simple common curtesy towards the gamer. The letter they issued recently was a very interesting read, but it explained very little of why situations such as the Cat'astrophy was allowed to happen even though the exploit was around for ages.
I am so sick of people saying beta as an excuse for this train wreck of a game it's not a beta when they accept money for in game items they say its an open beta simply to rush out this garbage with an excuse as to why it's so buggy and unready for play this game is so badly coded it's laughable a little love you say lol I say....

I am sorry but I can't agree with your idea that most of the criticism is coming from people who are not interested in the game. Though I can't speak for everyone, I can say that I would not post anything if I were not interested and invested in the game. I would not be so frustrated by how this game is being handled if I did not care. I want this game to succeed. I love D&D, I love MMO's, I want the problems to end and allow Cryptic to start churning out new content and new classes, expand the Foundry even further. There is so much potential here.
Like allways, there a lot of people thing's to be better then other. If you are so pro rzepakman, do your application to the PW and ask for a job as a dev, since you are better then them.
Lmao.
You're clueless. The first AH exploit was already in a previous game from the very same company. How hard is it not to make the same mistake twice?
As for everything else, he is pretty much spot on. Sure, you can argue that it's a beta but if it's a beta, why are they taking our money for a product that is not finished yet? Nowhere in the Zen market is it written "Help us fund this game!" either. Calling this a beta is just an excuse for bugs and exploit, not a fact of the matter.
I pretty much think the same as he does, I am not paying for this game nor am I planning to do so until they fix it. Also not paying for this game until they add means other than the zen market to get bags, until they make the bank space cheaper or at least increase it, reduce the price of upgrading your mount to a better quality, add some real end game content that's not 5-man and also fix the PvE that consist of nothing but adds and adds and more adds.
And I am not even going to talk about the PvP which consist of "Which one of us got the biggest nuke, soulforge, Astral Shield?"
I wish people would stop forgiving every time they see "Beta" stapled over a product that they get.
And if it's a beta anyways, shouldn't we have, not only the right but, the duty to criticize it?

Nobody is denying that cryptic is not handling the issues correctly. some people are just more lenient towards the mistakes. I personally do not care about all these exploits as long as im having fun myself and they do not change how I personally play. if they do actually cause it to make it unfair for me then I will complain but that so far hasn't happened. none of them have effected me in any way. a lot of people will quit because of these broken mechanics but they will still get more players back with fixes and with new major patches. you are correct in saying how you should not compare a game of 2013 to a game from 2004. the only thing I hate immensely is how there are people that are openly explaining exploits on sites like mmofail instead of messaging a admin. that does not help the game at all.
You're all just being little cry babies, if you don't enjoy the game - Don't play it.
If you do enjoy the game - Play it until you've pressed WASD so much your fingers break.
If you don't want to put money into the game - Don't! it's not like they're forcing you to.
I am sorry but I can't agree with your idea that most of the criticism is coming from people who are not interested in the game. Exactly, I get that person who made this thread had good intentions, but my view is that if a game is good and you want to thank the developers, buy stuff in the cash shop. Thread such as "Thanks Devs" and so on, accomplish nothing. If there are problems with the game than you HAVE to complain and point them out, because it you don't some bugs may go unfixed, intentionally so.
The practice in QA testing is that there are many levels of bugs. They range from "Don't bother" to critical. Critical bugs are of course the one's that can be called game breaking and have to be squashed prior to release. The small bugs, the tiny things that add up to being something annoying are for the most part marked as a waste of QA and Developers time. They are never fixed, because of Publisher pressure.
Now here is the important part, just because someone at the Pub decides that a bug is too unimportant to waste time on, does not mean it is the same for the gamer.

I am not sure if u remember the beginings of almost any mmo or online game lets just look at Diablo 3 for example lots of bugs and exploits.... WoW at launch... bugs and exploits its late but cant think of any others -Diablo 3 is always online and uses a rma, so it's impossible to compare the two. Also, WoW is 8 years old where standards were lower at the time and MMOs were somewhat new at the time with no references to help with bug fixing.-
At least this game wasn't made by Nexon.... Things would be worse... Then again 10$ for a bag...

For me the state of the game now is a pretty big issue. Recently I have been playing with the notion that a wipe is looming somewhere around the corner, which isn't the biggest motivator.
While I don't really want to defend the people who explain exploits to the public, through MMO sites and Youtube, the issue here isn't those players. The whole Catastrophe thing happend because Cryptic allowed it to happen. It was a well know exploit for a long time, but Cryptic only took steps to fix is once the proverbial poo hit the fan. If this exploit had not been spread by some people around the web I do not doubt it would go unfixed for much longer.
On this week's podcast, I was pretty vocal about being upset at those who took advantage of the exploit to hurt the game for everyone. Exploiters had to have known that they wouldn't be getting away with it when it became so widespread, but they did it anyway. Their actions broke a fundamental part of the game and caused a rollback that punished everyone who played during those seven hours. I can only imagine how ticked off players might be if they spent a lot of time gaming during that time period, and that anger should be directed at the jerks who put this train wreck into motion.
But I've always said that the exploit buck stops with the developer. The devs are in charge of creating the rules, testing the rules, and enforcing the rules. Leaving a door open and then just trusting players not to wander through it is foolishness at best and irresponsible at worst (especially if that's the doorway to hell or economic devastation).
So Cryptic is ultimately at fault here. The studio is at fault because it left a door open, it didn't test things enough to know that it should shut said door, and it swung into action only after the game itself came into jeopardy. I've heard plenty of accounts that this exploit wasn't even new but just became widespread during that weekend. If this was a known issue and Cryptic was ignoring it, that's even worse. I can't attest that this is 100% true, but I've seen it mentioned all over the place.
Plus, it's a chronic issue with this studio. Cryptic makes fun products but routinely fails to fully test content and systems, electing to shove stuff out the door and fix it later. Heck, we're still in "open beta" and this is the second major exploit that's become so bad that it's made widespread news. The last one also ended up giving good players the shaft because of the combined genius of the studio and exploiters.
While I'm piling on Cryptic (and I want to say that this is said in love, but tough love), while the gratitude pack was a nice idea, the studio struck a wrong tone in giving it out. Just a day after players had to cope with a rollback and seeing the game fall to pieces beneath them, the studio is making weird cat-astrophe jokes, downplaying the scope of the disaster (using the term "brief snags"), and generally being cheerful instead of sorry as hell that it let something stupid like this happen in the first place.

I agree, the game is rich, beyond reasonable expectations for a Free To Play. I am quite miffed at the trolls and other entitled pieces of $#%! who seem to think the devs owe us something for nothing. Stop whining and play the game, or bring your wimpy *** Cleric to the PvP ground and allow me to show you what 22 Dex looks like.
Solid job devs, ignore the hate, I want to make babies with Neverwinter.

I don't remember any game in "BETA" or launch that was as bad as this with exploits. People continuously point towards games like WoW and go "Look at that launch" yea ok, so do we not learn from things that happened 8 years ago? I'm sick and tired of people using the "Well they had a crappy launch" in reference to a game released years back. As a developer you don't ignore previous games, you look at what they did wrong and try your damndest to not repeat the same mistakes.

The game feels like it was created in independent chunks. The leveling pace doesn't match the crafting. The crafting doesn't match the equipment variety a class would want. The classes don't match the PvE content. The PvE content simply isn't as good as many of the Foundry Missions. Foundry Missions give pathetic rewards. Etc, etc.
