Purple items are far too common, bring in mega rare gold items which feel like legendary one off weapons.
Maybe only give one or two weapons per server per week :D and give them unique names.
Then the lucky few who get them can shout out "behold my mighty weapon of Mungarrr!!!" and such lol.
Just an idea I had ;)

    you haven't played gw2 yet haven't you?

anyway i think it's good that the items are easily accessible and affordable. Being an item based game (pvp wise) it helps avoid over-geared people from stomping on casual players. It's more fun when fights are not the face roll kind of fights, the fights that you really have to work for to win. Grinders/Hardcore players still get advantage through greater enchantments and other stuff- unless casuals spend lots of cash to buy them. It's a good thing. It wouldn't hurt if we could hunt items for aesthetic purposes only (rare items that have awesome looks) just for fusing them with our favored item.

No I have not played GW2 yet just don't fancy that one. ;)
Also great idea you have said there, they don't have to be more powerful just unique. :D

Colour has nothing to do with rarity, it's more of quality. Those pesky nightmare lockboxes are common like flies..

I would definitely support super rare cosmetic items like weapon skins, armors, pets or mounts

Which would still become common over time, as long as everything is farmable. As mentioned, color ends up being an indication of quality, not rarity.

I think that the issue is more that the various colours are misleading. If we take a leaf from the book of STO, the top end level 60 gear, are mk10, mk11, and mk12 (pvp,t1,t2). I don't think that the gear is supposed to be ultra-rare as that would promote a lot more elitism, it is bad enough that we have gearscore in game, which makes people seriously judgemental.

Taking the GW2 point, don't forget, the legendary items, were simply a very long, very boring process, to get a skin for an exotic weapon, and exotic weapons, could be crafted.. As said before, the rarity is more about stats, than difficulty to acquire.

Iam not saying make these legendary weapons better than normal purples, just unique.
They could write a story for a weapon and hold a competition for them etc.
Heck If they hadn't the time hold a competition to write that for a few zen lol

We are only seeing the rush of rares atm because imo reaching max lvl was far to fast and to easy. If the majority was still in their 30s the devs would still have had enough time to work on more end content. Thats just my 2cents worth tho.

I haven't seen a "Purple" item at all. maybe you have gotten to a level that warrants those items be found at a greater interval.

Cosmetic is a good money maker. Never underestimate a gamers need to express their individuality, or their willingness to pay for it.

    green = lame

There's also a grey tier before white. Admittedly not very commonly seen..

    This.

At most, the dungeons should have gearscore suggestions, not requirements.

because, there is no rarity on D&D games, only quality, even a green have better attribute then a blue item sometime.

I watched a video were a guy identified an item and found out it was Gold. So at least in beta Gold did exist. Ultra rare but it was out there... Perhaps nobody has gotten one yet.

In Warhammer the best items in the game pre-LV/Castle was rare world drops. I only saw 2 of them and I sold one of them for 2000g and the other I used. I killed millions of mobs just to get those 2 and was number 1 DoK on my server in PvP for get my world ranking. I seem to recall it was in top 3 or 4. So i did a lot of game time.

Anyways just because you haven't found one or nobody else.. doesn't mean they are not out there.

I doubt this game is E-sport material or plan to be one. So whole keep gear balanced for PvP goes out of the window, PvP atm couldnt be any more imbalanced.

If games wanted to go PvP route they would give us PvP areas without counting our gear and having just some preset stats for each class. Balancing PvE around PvP is stupidest idea ever, it always fail as it will simply eat away from PvE. People want to grow at PvE, while for PvP to work you need balance which is very distant from growing or you just end up endless cycle of excuses to nerf everything.

    ^I agree with Teepussi.

And the thread as well. I like the idea of items which are incredibly hard to come by. The value of purple items are going lower the more people are getting increased supplies for them.

Anyway, more gear would be nice! And if possible, more effects as well.
