Respec's prior to 60

Am I the only one who is frowning on having to pay $$ to respec my character?

Now, I'm not complaining to the degree most on these forums are complaining. I'm simply saying I'm not liking it. Main reason is I'm still learning the game, still learning the abilities and still learning the feel for my class.

I wish respec's were free, but maybe only every 5 levels between respecs prior to 60, with one final free respec when you hit 60.

I know I messed up my build and will just wait till I am at max level before I pay to respec.

Is this the norm with D&D type of game? I come from a WoW/TOR background for MMO's

No its normal with Free games, Subscription based MMO's give you them free/for ingame currency because they make their money from the $10 a week you have to pay.
TOR Makes even more from its hilariously bad cashshop.

I wish I could find a nice build guide that wasn't a wall of text that expects you to know what each ability does to exact detail :(

Yes, all other bug issues aside, this is my major gripe with the game so far. Its far too cost prohibitive and for it still being beta, with broken and unclear talents, not only am I an unwanted GF im an unwanted GF with a bad spec, shame on me for reading the tool tips and thinking Id be alright! I feel punished in a way. Im NOT anti cash shop by any means, but this isnt a pet or vanity item, this is game breaking in some cases. Hopefully soon there will be alterations to the system. Incrementally increasing gold fee or a slowly regening monthly meter for a free spec, something, anything versus the current form.

Well, in addition many things may be very useful leveling, while not so much at 60. I'd wager that most folks will want/need to respec at 60.

It would be nice if you could buy one for AD or if you got one out of the adventurer's box once in the mid-levels.

Oh I completely agree that the respecs are way way overpriced, I also think that respecs should come from AD not Zen.

Well, for like 150k AD i can redo my Feats part, just not powers. But a 6$ respec token resets everything. Odd setup if you ask me.

Simple fact is a Good MMO would give you at least 1 respec.
If you wanted to change all the time then you should pay.
But i guess it is a bit much to expect when you have to buy bags as well which are another basic MMO essential.

economy aside, as green as i am with the game so far, its my only real gripe. I will pay for a 80% speed horse no problem, but a respec... sad face

I'm not saying I like the system in place, because I don't, but you can kind of buy a respec token with AD you just need to convert it to zen first. But you don't have to use real money.

It is normal with Perfectworld games, not freemium MMO games in general.

Yes, it sucks for this game. Not even a single respec at 60 is ridiculous.

I would like to see respec costs and the system change a little. Cryptic should sell "role slots" for $10 each. Then you could have multiple specs. Charge AD only to reset the spec and have that cost scale with level. Don't charge for a respec prior to 40 and then scale up to 10k AD at 60. The respec should reset both powers and feats.

I've respecced. I spent AD on Zen and got a respec for ~200k prior to the AH explosion. You don't need to spend any $ to respec if you just put in work.

You don't need to spend AD either. Just play with your broken feats and spend that AD on something that's actually fun.

its funny how the game simply punishes you for playing the game xD

how in hell should you know which powers are still usefull with lvl60 and which are a total points waste.
you only know if AFTER you lvlt it up to 2 or 3. only to realize the power is absolute HAMSTER

you have to plan your character from 1-60 in everything before you even create him.. unless you want to pay money for a respecc.. this is just poor design.

oh i want to create a second character.. hmm lets play a TR. .. BRB 4hours gotta plan everything in detail how i have to spend my points. ****ing ****

This is the power/feat calculator I use for those who are looking for one. As someone mentioned earlier though, you don't always get what the icon says you do.

The only problem i see with the current system is that some paragon feats simply dont work, aswell as heroic feats, so as long as the skills arent working as intented i dont see how in there right mind they opted for cash respecs.

However if everything worked as intented i have no problem with cash respecs, there are plenty of simulators online to theorycraft ure build upfront, then just implement what u thought of.
But as it stands now with the skills being broken, ure theorycraft only works on paper....

Now they have mentioned they are looking into Balance, I'm just going to play "broken" until the dust settles

Me personally, I find it insulting to have to pay to respect at all. even more so while this is in beta still. all respecting should be free until this game actually goes live. yes its live/beta but its still beta and respecting should be free until this game looses the title beta.

LOL Such a contradictory statement. You want a complete guide with each ability detailed, then you complain about a wall of text. You were given the info in the wall of text. You were just too lazy to read it. Then you complain. See the issue.

On the contrary, I read them. The bigger issue for me is I would like to see a quality spec from an ingame screen, rather than a novel or brightly colored text.
