Before I say anything, I realize prices are insanely high and I realize that you need to farm in-game for an insane amount of time inorder to get the equivalent of 10$ of Zen.
People have the assumption that just because Neverwinter is published by PWE and developed by Cryptic that they are loaded. The average American game developer salary is 84,000, I'm not quite sure how many developers are working on the game right now but it is safe to say more than 10. I'm not sure how much servers are but I imagine they aren't cheap.
This isn't your run of the mill single player title either, it is an MMO that requires a ton of work to even be playable. This game released with open beta for one reason and one reason only, to make share holders happy and keep the developers working.
People scream that Founders packs aren't worth it and they are a cheap rip off, well when you purchase a founder pack that is you helping to fund the developers and keep them working.
TL;DR The game was released early therefor has bugs (Beta). Developers and servers aren't free.
People need to stop all the nonsense and complaining and take a moment to appreciate what a wonderful age we live in. Where a Video Game like this can be created and given out for free!!!!
We have been given a super awesome Dungeons and Dragons MMO for absolutely free!!! Am I the only one that realizes how awesome and cool this is? Not just an MMO, Not just a D&D game. A D&D MMO!!! And a AAA Game!!! Not some web browser junk or top down view hack and slash.
A full featured, amazing graphics, Voice overs and everything else you can want from today's biggest game studios and we got it all for free!!!!!
Better than 90% of the stuff I have picked up on my XBOX 360 in the last few years. Better than just about every MMO I had to pay for! On top of all of that, I am able to run it problem free on a $200 dollar laptop I got at Walmart!!!

People have just reevaluated the cost of the packs, and have found that the value has decreased based on personal experience. Not on dev hype and promises.

Building a game with the intent of depending on in game player purchases to complete basic development? Terrible ****ing plan.
Use the <removed exploit lead-in> to interact with the auction vendor.
BEFORE YOU PUT MONEY IN A "BETA"
BEFORE YOU GO CRYING ABOUT LOST ITEMS, LEVELS ETC...
Please keep this in mind
"When playing some Beta Games, you may accumulate treasure, experience points, equipment, or other value or status indicators within the Beta test. This data may be reset at any time during the testing process, and it may be reset when the particular game completes this testing phase. In this case, all player history and datawill be erased and each player will return to novice status."
Seems alot of you got stuck thinking this game is "safe" to play wide open and nothing will happen.
Just thought I'd refresh that for everyone that forgot what the word beta actually stood for.

dude you need to browse the internet a bit more, the world is full of F2P games heck there are buy to play games too and more important...it is immensely cheaper to spend 10 euro per month, than 40 euro for a mount.
You will ALWAYS spend more money on a f2p with micro-transaction(not that micro in this chase) over subscription
However i must say that in this game you don't need to spend money, i spent 40 euro so far (bags and some AD for gearscore) and I wont spend anything for a loooong time, the time required to fix some awful game mechanics like loot system/LFG, class balances ecc.
but once you are able to do t2 runs and sell thing on AH, you wont need a cent no more.
ah and AAA GAME??? ROTFL, you need to play something else than COD mate as do I need to mind my own business ^^ but in the end this is a friendly world of advice.
Say that they may... BUT, their TOS sais otherwise! Words are powerfull, but the written down ones are FINAL!
Ofcourse they would say there's no wipe. I mean why would a company say don't put money in my game because I'm gona wipe it.
Just saying... keep an open mind before you go spending too much money in a beta people. The TOS is there for a reason and most people NEVER pay attention to the fine print of things.

Well you could argue this is a Triple-A title under the assumption that it is D&D. Triple-A is just how well known the brand or how much advertising has been done. For an example, people don't know what a JRPG might be but they sure have heard of Final Fantasy.
I'm also going to need some more data on the you will always spend more money on a f2p title.
Either way who are you to decide what is fun for him or not? He enjoys D&D and MMO's, Neverwinter seems perfect for him.
Still trying to find a reference to AD in my AD&D Manuals.

What about those who funded the BETA TEST only to have our stake diminished by exploiters.
It def takes money to run a game, I do not think this one will last long after the initial influx of founder packs/zen purchases. I know I will not ever spend anything on a PWE/Cryptic related product again.

Perfect World purchased Cryptic from Atari. So it is coming from Perfect World's wallet. Maybe they should have kick startered the game then? With the quality of games being release by Cryptic. They really need to hire and fire some people in there. Last 3 (including Neverwinter) games have had some major issues at release.
The perhaps they should not have called the game Free to Play. It reminds me of the term freeware wherein they disabled anything useful earning them the title crippleware. I don’t think the original coiners of that moniker offered it in malfeasance. I think they just wanted people to understand that it was not actually free, even though it said it was.
Despite the wildly varying education and maturity levels of people across the globe, the human animal is remarkable sensitive to some things. Like when someone declares that a thing is free and then tries to extract money using psychological tricks and dead end mechanics. Even very dense people can understand that they are being duped even if they cannot put their proverbial fingers on exactly how.
What would you call a situation in which one thing is said but another thing entirely turned out to be true? Fiction? Deception? Magic? Business?
I can only speak for myself, but a little honesty would go along way.
Yes, you can craft some but you can’t craft everything without spending real money.
Yes, you can grind gear but you will always be behind the spenders unless you use real money.
Yes, you get a free companion but the higher level ones that you will really need will cost you real money.
Yes, Horses are allowed in PVP and to keep up be prepared to spend real money, lots of it.
Instead it is packaged up as if we just won’t notice. We are treated like the turnip that never fell off the truck. Instead we get to see what the spenders are winning, we get to compete in pvp with their advantages, we get to be kicked from groups because our gearscore doesn’t match their credit score.
And all of that is fine. Its Cryptic’s game, they get to do whatever they want. But let’s not pretend that the free players are picking the developers pockets.
We are playing the game they offered. $40 for a pretend pony, just who is getting who for cheap?

It's not their fault, they feel mislead.
Natural human emotions to have buyers remorse.
