everything but the dungeons and epic dungeons are designed as singleplayer content, that doesn't exclude the possibility of using clever tactics and strategies to beat the dungeons alone.

you might want to get some help if you're going to face some of those bosses

Quite. The 'community' in NW is a new MMO low for me. From the endless spam, the stupid questions and pointless 'pay attention to me, pay attention to me' babble of chat to the vile, cheating little cretins who make up pugs. I came into this game with high hopes but it ended up just reminding me that hell is indeed, other people.

Well, goodness me. I fear that you've lead quite a sheltered MMO life. While the natives of any MMO tend to be somewhat revolting, Neverwinter's denizens are very much in the middle of the curve. They're really no worse than Barrens chat, in all important ways.

Admittedly, I have found things slightly less socially dysfunctional on European servers, and fear there is a bit of a culture gap when I'm playing with Americans. There seem to be some big differences regarding acceptable habits of thought and speech, and it can be quite depressing.

However, Neverwinter really isn't unusually toxic. I'm somewhat glad for your sake that you never played Global Agenda or the like- you really haven't seen cretinous, if you think NW-ites are bad. The most printable things that happened were the endless idiotic spamming of memes by fratbros ("BACON! lol!"). The rest of it was like a text transcription from a CoD game or maybe League of Legends.

I suppose I should be glad that you have been largely spared, up to now, I wouldn't wish that one anyone that I didn't dislike with some specificity.

Here's a strange question: Do you think it's possible to play Neverwinter like a singleplayer game?

    It isn't a single player game ?

Ok snark off, but this game plays more like a single player game than it does an MMO

    1. Conversation in parties is near 0, and 9 times out 10 when someone does talk it is only to make a fool of themselves
    2. For non dungeon content putting together a group is just a way to gimp your drops.
    3. PvP is a race to throw in the towel
    4. After the AD cockup you will probably never get a reasonable deal on gear on the AH.

In all honesty except for queuing for events this game looks like a single player game to me.

That is quite probable. I'm European, I'm not seeing 50 again and I'm afraid I expect people to behave like decent human beings even when in an MMO. As PWE don't think it's their job to test games or provide customer support let alone enforce any sort of code of conduct I've turned from one of those fabled 'whales' ready and willing to get my credit card out to a minnow playing both this and STO as a once-only FTP single-player game.

I've played LOTRO since it came out, on the former european RP server, and that's where i'll be staying once I finish the storyline here. I'll be writing off the $150 or so I've spent and moving on to hopefully greener pastures like Elite and maybe TESO.

Yeah, for the real experience, one would need to go into a pvp-centric game, with free-for-all world pvp. :D

That's hardly fair and all inclusive. I can guarantee that said game usually don't have one type of player... which one can probably go to Second Life to find tons of. Or in short, one needs to experience the worst of PvP-centric games, and Social-centric games. :p

I'm sure when your doing the quest. It can feel a lot like a single-player. Then you see that one guy Kill-Steal one of monsters you needed to finish a quest and that feeling quickly goes away~

If someone ever seems to be KSing, remember to hit it once; you'll get your quest credit. Kill Stealing is not possible in this game, anyone who damages a mob gets credit for the kill for quests (if they are doing the quest), exp from the kill, and loot from the kill. It's the best thing about the game IMO, as it fosters cooperation, even amongst people who might be soloing through everything else. Also, it's not kill stealing if they hit it first. ;)

I haven't allowed the community to wear me down, but then again I knew this community would have a very large percentage of horrible people, and a small percentage of real gems. I think the combo of a F2P business model, coupled with action combat, and even the mention of PvP is what draws in the muck crawlers. People who came here for the Foundry seem to be of an overall higher caliber.

The loot rolls, the exploits, the mmo crowds that bash each other with virtual clubs, and the constant spamming of this game sucks have totally turned me off the mmo path. My wife and I generally play together and I have fired up the foundry and love it. I like the storyline so far from the devs but the constant raging of the community in game has left the game on a sour note. So yes, run everything solo or find a good friend and run with them. Foundry missions are some of the best I've ever seen. Even running the more party developed dungeons like Crypts of Carnage was a blast. The game has potential, just have to hold out until the haters and teens loose interest in it. ;)

Ironically, I have found people to be a lot less screamy in some MMOs with the ability to engage in world PvP. The ability to set fire to each other, is possibly somewhat cathartic XD

Hell, even in the inevitable WoW which is somewhere in the middle ground, my little Forsaken Priest on a PvP server got a surprising amount of people making lv 1 accounts to log on and chat after we locked horns, as well as a lot of nice co-operation out in the world, with people being very sure to /sorry when they accidentally hit someone with an AoE when they were fighting mobs.

Yeah, games where your behavior can have real consequences, tend to have better communities. True openworld FFA PvP games actually have pretty good communities compared to say WoW, or this game. I personally think the LFG/Group finder tools have ruined communities more than they have helped. There is a reason many people can't find groups without them, it's called having a ****ty reputation. Rep used to matter, but the Group finder tools make it irrelevant, and that to me is a very bad thing in an MMORPG.
