Teaser Trailer! [UGC] Halls of the Forgotten Quest 2:Ask Not Whence the Thunder Comes

Here is a teaser trailer video of the ginormous ceiling reaching ice fortress I've built for part 2 of the Halls of the Forgotten campaign. Ask Not Whence the Thunder Comes strives to create an environment with ZERO map transitions. The entire fortress you will explore and interact with is completely hand built block by block in the map itself. If you can see it you can go there. There will be adventuring in the map outside the fortress before you can even get inside. Once inside you have 7 levels of fortress to uncover and giants to involve yourself with. From freeing fellow humans to all out war, you will engage in a battle of wits and force against the mighty giants to finally find the way into... the Halls of the Forgotten!

    I just saw the trailer.... It looked amazing.

    Do not forget to post your Foundry Code of this epic looking adventure. You need to publish it first, so we can see it. When you are ready.

    Two things... if I may:

    1. How did you get those views... it looked like you were in first person and flying...

    2. What program did you use to make this? IT LOOKED.... amazing :)

    Thanks for checking it out! The video was creating using neverwinter's demo system. you can record then play back the demo and view from anywhere inside your map using camera points.

    the rest was done with adobe premiere

    I will post the first quest's short code here and then when the ice fortress quest comes out it will definitely have its own thread!

    Good god man, how many hours did that beast take to build? I thought i had problems making Limbo lol. That thing must have been nasty to test and work out.
    Also what are the demo recording buttons / commands? It would be nice to do similar things for my quests. I cant wait to play this.

    haha thanks Drak. It took more hours at this point than I'm willing to admit lol. I am detailing the whole inside as we speak. Taking FOREVER!

    Holy bleep! That is soooooooooooooo awesome. I have yet to see something like this made and am extremely excited to see it. You may want to link to your original quest in this post as well. If you haven't clicked the link for the video folks you should take a look!!!

    I must have missed the demo part? How do you utilize it?

    Please see the link in my post above. There are tons of ways to make great Foundry trailers using demorecord. There are also a few tutorials at Starbase UGC.

    Yes the tutorials seem well done. I will be putting a part two up soon, which has the entire fortress detailed out on the inside. (a shame there's no way to show the npc's during the video since they don't show up if they are customized at all)

    That has been a huge issue for us. Nobody at Cryptic seems to know how to fix it. It has almost led to a video podcast simply abandoning what they are doing, as well as a machinima project switching into virtual non-existence. They won't fix demo record and it seems like they don't really care too much.

    Well I can say, hearing from a few folks that talk to the devs in game... that over this next year a ton of work is going to go into the foundry, I will try to put the bug in the ear that with that to just do a little work on the demo recorder! It doesn't really need much, just a tiny bit of love!

    Very nice video..i just finished my first quest NW-DJFUWOI9X it's called when hell freezeth over..im looking forward to checking yours out when you get it finished

    Yes, in fact I only have 2 floors left to do. I am hoping to actually release some time next week the actual quest. So look for a new video before then.

    I am curious how you made the path of the video so smooth? I doubt my camera skills would be as smooth with a mouse and keyboard.

    when you use the demo recorder you actually choose camera points. The system itself will smoothly go from one point to the next!

    Sure do! The way you are facing when you place the new camera point will be where the camera moves to and how it will be facing when it gets there. If you need some help let me know we can jump in vent or mumble and I can help ya out.

    wow the new screenshot is awesome. The size of those giants is huge? Did you make them even bigger? Is the entire fortress made up of them?

    The giants are completely custom. The entire fortress are levels of different kinds etc. they patrol the battlements outside and you can go out there as well!

    Amazing job. I've got an external map coming up for the second part of my raid-esq group dungeon, so very inspirational :)
