That may be YOUR definition of spam, or it may even be the generally accepted definition, but in the context of games that use the Cryptic Engine, 'Report Spam' is STRICTLY for reporting real money traders/sellers. It may not be enforced, but to use it otherwise is incorrect.

You've repeated this statement at least a couple of times. I looked at the Terms of Service and the Knowledge Base and I can find no statement that it "is STRICTLY for reporting real money traders/sellers." Would you please provide a citation from an official source? In fact, I did find knowledge base statements that you could be chatbanned for typing in all caps or "spamming". They do not define the word "spam" so the traditional definition should apply.

Too bad this isn't STO. Until it is stated here on these forums by a GM/Dev, in the ToS or in Knowledge base it isn't valid for this game.

I do agree that we really need a trade, lfg chat channel. If not everyday the zone channel in town is just unreadable.

Cool, now show us something for Neverwinter instead of Star Trek Online.

Every game has it's own ToS/EULA, no matter if the same company makes and runs that game.

Spam is spam. Doesn't matter if its a gold seller or a legit merchant. The button is called report 'spam'.

If you are making so many posts in a row that i see mostly your stuff, i'll report you for spam. I don't care if you are selling gold, selling items, cursing for whatever reason, looking for a group, or whatever, it's spam. There should be a global, trade, and lfg channel, but if people are making zone impossible, i'll report them.

I will say there should be a "do you really want to report HAMSTER for spam", because more than once i've accidentally clicked a name as the chat was moving too fast. :\

Thanks for looking it up, but this is an antiquated post (early 2010) from when Cryptic wasn't owned by PWE and they had their own GM's on staff. The old post is basically worthless without current confirmation (it was never enforced back then even in CO or STO as we are both aware), and isn't confirmed as the current policy by the present STO community manager or staff (they've only confirmed ignores and report spam add to the chat ban count trigger) .

No offense intended, just pointing out we need clarification from the current staff on this.

Good sir! I propose the most excellent idea of you not talking from your anal track! Not only does this most enjoyable game share a chat server with its space fairing cousin it also shares some of these "devs" you speak of. It is also best be known that if you are unfortunate enough to get chat banned in STO you get chat banned in NW. This can also be said of CO also.

    Now away with you wench!

Be that as it may... You can't expect someone to go to a forum for a totally different game and look for posts from 2010 to find certain rules which 'may' apply to the game they are playing. If those are in place for NW then they need to post them and maybe even make it a sticky as well as mentioning it when you do Report Spam because I can fairly guarantee that about 99% of the population knows nothing about it.

Proof of what exactly? Outdated information concerning a different game from when the company was owned by someone else proves nothing.

Again the button says "Report Spam" and not "Report RMT Spam". If they want to change it, or clearly state somewhere here that it is only for Gold Sellers, that's fine. I don't get what the fuss is about the actual report button anyway since people are saying the ignore button is giving players chat bans as well.

Yes actually good sir I do. They should have done research into the past shenanigans of these Cryptic miscreants. Be prepared and whatnot!

And sir your figures give a falsehood. Both connoisseurs of Trek and DnD tend to be of the larger virgin variety the type that tend to hide in the lower most chamber of their mothers dwellings. I assure you this fact GUARANTEES a cross pollination of the population of said MMOs and I would take a guess that about one third of these wretched creatures already know about the spam report system.

Though your theoretical mathematics where somewhat amusing. For that Sir you have my thanks.

ROFL. :) Can't tell if serious.

The problem with this is that it wasn't all that common knowledge in STO anyway. At least not when I played. So the "cross pollination" of players would in theory only slightly increase overall awareness of such an outdated, odd, and obscure rule.

I've been playing the game for a couple of weekends, so I'm still pretty new to the game. I'm enjoying the game so far, but I have noticed that one has to repeat her/himself a couple of times before one is noticed. I don't think it's really anybody's fault; it's just the fact that you have so many ppl wanting to trade, asking questions, recruiting for guilds, and commenting on the game in general that any posts that are made get buried pretty quickly.

Rather than creating a bunch of different channels, maybe creating an in-game posting space where guilds can place recruit ads and ppl can post buying/selling requests? Another MMORPG made by a competitor has done something similar with decent results, and third-party gold spammers are easy to spot and report.
