Id love to use 360CE to get my ps3 controller to work with the game tho since it is a 3rd party program , i would like an official response if this is allowed or not.Dont want to get banned for such a silly thing you know?.

I doubt they will ban you since I think somewhere in the FAQ they said using a game pad with things like xpadder are allowed. I might be mistaken, but who knows.

Given that PWE don't ban people for typing in general chat asking for teammates do do exploits, I really doubt think they will ban you for using a program to play with a controller.

DISCLAIMER:
Technically according to their ToS they could ban you for almost anything. However, the amount of ridicule this would generate in the gaming press if they did ban someone for this while not bothering with major exploits should prevent any sane developer from even thinking of doing this. Then again, there is a possible loophole in my argument......

well...at worst, do it and see. If you get banned, its not like you cant make another account and start anew. Jut try not to buy anything for a while until you see if it is confirmed or not. If you see it is allowed, buy mounts and outfits and whatnot till your hearts content. If it is bannable, just stop doing it. If you get banned, come tell us so WE know it is in fact a bannable offence. Sometimes, being the pioneer is better than the follower.

What on earth do you think they would ban you for? The gamepad is essentially acting as a keyboard/mouse combo with substantially less keys. If you want to hamstring yourself, go ahead.

This thread would be awesome if it was about control wizard who actually had awareness.

Nice find. Can't imagine it would be an issue if a stickied post refers to s similar system.

Somewhere in there is mentioned the xpadder thing, and other software to emulate it as well.

? how do you figure I'm "hamstringing myself"? lol... I guess if your using something like a "Logitech g15" running a HAMSTER ton of macros, yeah I'm not doing that. But standard key binding inputs "I have all those mapped to my controller and chatpad :D and I love it! sitting on the couch with a mouse and keyboard just isn't viable :p

While it would be far better if they would put native controller support in. I'll get by with my Logitech Dual action and xpadder, Problem is xpadder doesn't support 2 button combos, where the cryptic engine's native controller support does. In fact I made my own custom controller profile for STO using /bind commands that gives me 30+ different commands using various 2 button combos, and all without any weird hand gymnastic.

Also major advice for those using xpadder, set camera left/right to the left control stick.. put A/S on right stick.

Then set camera sensitivity to around 3 in game, you'll be amazed how smooth movement is. You can adjust sensitivity to your own preference but the default 1.4 is too slow for my liking.

Here's a pic of my setup:

If you have an Xpadder profile you could share for Neverwinter, it'd be greatly appreciated! :)

O_O wow that's way different then how I prefer my "Camera/ Movement" settings

xOQ8Mwj.jpg
WHar9OY.jpg
x1OszAM.jpg
Zh0eSoR.jpg

Left stick is character movement, Right is mouse cursor control (which lets me control the camera and the courser when I hit my "Alt" key, so I can still interact with things like my Inventory...etc/)

and the reason my keybindings are like that is I still transition to mouse and keyboard sometimes "like for Foundry...etc/"

(V = utility, D = sparkly quest path, B = interact, F4 = mount) "everything else should be self explanatory.

things like "Home Page, Invocation...etc/" I just use the Chatpad... and for "Chat" input too >D

Edit: p.s. I cant stand "Modifier Keys" when using a Controller "I set up a profile to work everything in GW2 and it worked, but was no fun" I just realized I have profile #2 & #3 turned on but there blank lol...I used a previous profile and edited it for Neverwinter, I'll have to delete those

Yeah the reason I put left/right camera on the left stick is because of the mouse controlled camera rotation. I rarely move left or right actually and still use keyboard and mouse for menus chat etc. But in combat or for movement it allows for nice smooth action. it means I can move forward or back and turn left and right using only my left thumb, freeing my right thumb to hit buttons on the right side as needed for the various powers. You may also notice I have the "F" interact button set to my start button.

Maybe it's just me but I prefer to be facing the direction my character is moving so the whole WASD movement thing seems unnatural to me. I mean in real life you don't just suddenly move to the left when moving, you turn first, then you go forward looking in the new direction. It also gives me the advantage that I can literally spin completely around almost instantly using one thumb all the while mashing buttons with the other thumb and fingers.

. . . . . Xpadder is acceptable to use as long as you do not use it to do automated tasks while you're not attending your character. Just make sure you're downloading a legitmate copy and not one from a 3rd party source, else you risk downloading a virus or trojan infested program.

. . . . . Just for the record, I have been using a combination of Xpadder for my Microsoft XBOX 360 Controller for Windows, Windows Speech Recognition, and Windows Speech Recognition Macro Tool for CO and STO for years. (I am disabled, so these accessibility tools play an integral part of my gaming). It's so glorious to yell out, "FIRE EVERYTHING" and then watch as my beam-boat dreadnought venture skin lights up the area... My neighbors however probably think I am a loon or a die hard trekkie... or both. I'll deny neither.

I've used the Xbox controller since launch. I don't see any problem with it. My old hands can't take the extensive keyboard/mouse route anymore. Thank you for verifying that I haven't been breaking the rules, zebular. :)

yeah everybody's got there preferences :]
but you know people don't always just turn then go a new directing "in real life" right...

haha! that's awesome

it would blow my mind if using a certain peripheral was against the rules @_@ "I don't count running macro bot programs (that's totally a ban-able offense and its cheating (>.<) , just the idea of using a controller instead of a keyboard" that's nuts
