There is one basic issue with the Founder packs now.... you can no longer get one of the most valuable parts of it: the 5 day headstart.

2mil AD + that head start, used properly, has likely made a number of players quite a good profit. First to 60, first to start farming dungeon epics, first to get their professions high.... and all those things sold at a premium to the people who came after. In a month, none of that will matter, because plenty of folks will be maxed out in gear & professions. It's the initial rush, the first week, where the really crazy profit can be made (I've seen that enough with the several WoW expansion launches I was around for.)

So yeah - the founder pack is now worth less than it was. Still might be worth it for some people, but those first few days are a huge thing that can't be gotten anymore.

Exactly. The pack is worthless now, just spend $200 on zen (if you must shell out cash)

Sounds alot like you bought hero of the north for in-game advantages hoping to get a pay to win scenario. How could you not look at the items in the pack and tell it wasn't worth $200?? Honestly?? To be honest none of the packs are "worth" the money. Nothing in the Zen store is either. Thats where F2P games make their money by people that think "if i pay to get this ill get lots of benifits and blah blah blah"

Let me break it down for you on how these packs work since you don't seem to understand.

1.) The founder packs are not meant to give you a massive advantage in the game if you bought the packs to have a huge advantage quite frankly your an idiot.

2.) These packs are more of a "Hey if you support us we will give you these items to show our appreciation for your DONATION."

These packs serve only as incentive to donate money to the game creators. They need funding and paid for doing their job. If these F2P games do not make money they will stop doing them and everything will become subscription based. But theres no fear in that because to many people out there come to these games because they think F2P=P2W. Yes RL money will get you what you want for the most part alot faster. However incase you havent got a high level yet in endgame your going to still be grinding for seals and bars to get your gear.

But i do have to agree about the panther pet its garbage it is absolutely terrible i would take any normal pet over it anyday. Its dps is terrible it takes forever in between each attack. Something needs to be done about it. Its just not really helping anyone do anything.

FYI I also bought a founder pack. I did not however buy it for the goodies i bought it because i realized what it truely was a "here have a cookie thanks for your donations" type of thing. Use your brain obviously its not worth the money.

So what does all this mean? If you bought the founder pack or any of the other packs for any reason other than to support the developers then your an idiot. Don't buy something that clearly tells you whats inside then complain it wasnt worth the value. Anyone can tell the $5xx dollar value tag that slapped on it was nowhere near the value. Be smart learn to think.

Had the option been there i would have donated money to them with the only goody being vip access (don't have to wait in qeue lines.) God knows i've wasted alot more than $200 dollars on things before. If i enjoy the game for even 6 months it was worth the $200 IMHO.

After I read the rewards between Hero and Guardian it seemed pretty obvious Hero wasn't worth anywhere near the asking price.

And the Dire Wolf sucks, too. The gold bought companions are better.

The exchange rate was 500 to 1 at launch. It's dropped. What does that tell you? It's high because founders like you are trying to sell their Astral Diamonds for Zen rather than hanging on to it or using it for other things. It's unlikely to stay that high in the long term. Cryptic's other games have exchange rates for their AD-equiv usually floating around 200-250 for 1 Zen. It may not drop that far in Neverwinter...or maybe it might. We don't know.

But exchange rates aren't stable. Think about that.

Cryptic's previous games didn't have founder packs as such, because they launched on a regular subscription model. But they do have lifetime subscriptions, which when initially offered were priced about the level of the Neverwinter Hero of the North Pack. They also have veteran rewards for subscribers, which effectively are part of the lifetime package (since lifetimers automatically get all the vet rewards).

The costumes, player races, starships and so on from those rewards have never been offered on the Zen store. All other exclusives and preorder bonuses have eventually ended up on the Zen store, yes. But not that stuff.

Now, word is that a regular Drow race may be released for other players, but cosmetic and stat-wise it'll be different from the one Hero of the North founders get.

founders like us? hmm.. I will have you know that the ENTIRE 5 day headstart the AD to zen exchange was around 480-485 AD to buy 1 Zen, and 495-500 AD to SELL 1 Zen.

the ENTIRE 5 DAYS that there was nothing but players that had the extra AD to buy Zen with..... but, first day of FtPers logging in?

price dropped by 100 AD per Zen. since then it's been dropping more and more. seems almost stable at 380-400, BUT tomorrow is "Friday" and with that day comes a lot of FtPers with a paycheck, and flooding the market again with more Zen, to buy all those AD they didn't get from a founder's pack, because they quote "would never spend real $ on a FtP game.

but I degrees... you are right, it's the founder's fault, that's why the exchange was a constant 495-500 till FtPers came and "fixed" the prices

It was worth it to me for the spider mount alone. But when you have a great paying job and absolutely no life at all, 200 bucks isn't much. (Money/no life is a tradeoff I'm very willing to accept.)

lol, I don't have "money" but I also "have no life" and they gave enough notice for me to save up a few months to get mine.

What a stupid ****ing thread. You bought something which wasn't forced on you, then after playing for a couple of weeks, you decide you don't like it and want a refund. Do you know how business works or even the common sense of society or what money is? Before the 5 day early access there was a change in the packs which led to refunds given WITHOUT A HASSLE! Yet you used what you paid for and now want a refund because you think it's not worth it now.

I've spent $2000 inc. the founder's pack so far and I enjoy throwing every cent to Cryptic because I pay to SUPPORT THEM. I'm only level 52 atm, and slowly enjoying my game. PROBLEM?

I'm an alt-oholic so getting a purple class mount, purple class companion, an OP newbie weapon for easy leveling on all 5 of my toons and more when the new classes come out makes me feel pretty good about my purchase but only for myself. If you're the type of person to only level 1 toon, then I probably wouldn't buy it.

Heh, I bought a purple pet the Phoera for 271K from the Auction House. And while yes I'm a guardian I didn't make that AD from the guardian purchase. I only ever distributed 50K AD to that character and after the purchase still had over 70K AD on that character.
