i have the same issue with my game to and i know its not virus cause i check mine all time to and never finds anything. im jsut glad someone else having same issue and im not only one but still sems no one has figured out how to fix issue from what i can see
Bump, and because additional information is a good thing: I am using Chrome right now. I suspect those of you who don't have this problem are using Firefox with adblock.
Is that correct?
It doesn't matter which browser you currently use, the launcher uses the Internet Explorer engine (a WebBrowser object embedded in a window or similar). For what it's worth, I use both Chrome and Firefox, in both my desktop and my laptop computers, and while the Desktop has the IE10 update, the laptop is still in IE9, and it doesn't happen in either case.
My guess would be that there's a adware software involved, most probably installed as an Internet Explorer toolbar or Browser Helper Object. See this to learn how to disable add-ons in IE8 (there's a dropdown to change the version): http://preview.tinyurl.com/ck4vxxs (used a preview URL so you can tell it's not a bad link)
I use IE10 and I have the pop-up blocker enabled, I do not see any pop-ups. If they are using the IE engine then open IE, open tools (alt X), go to internet options/Privacy and turn on the pop-up blocker.
I somehow managed to get out of the pop ups problem with fiddling about with internet explorer... then when I ran the launcher it said that I had JavaScript disabled, so I enabled it, leading to the pop ups problem again.

Definitely sounds like some sort of adware or hijack scenario. Don't be offended when people tell you this. It doesn't mean you're a horrible person. It doesn't mean you're incapable of maintaining a clean system. The most high-tech, security savvy people can still fall victim to such things.
What you're experiencing is not a normal behavior of Neverwinter's launcher as you can tell since other people using any of the major browsers have commented they don't experience it. Me included as I use IE or Chrome for various things and don't use an ad blocker or pop-up blocker and I haven't had this happen.
I'd suggest you try installing and running one or both Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.com/) and Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) to see what it comes up with and if it helps. They both tend to catch different issues. Another product that catches various problems like this is Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/). All of them have free versions.
Give those a shot and report back to see if that helped. Good luck!
edit: Afterwards you may want to consider uninstalling those programs since it's possible your current antivirus software may not interact well with them. Oh, and of course we're assuming you're using a good antivirus software that is up to date.
Yes, this was exclusive to my installing of Neverwinter launcher. it was not found by my anti-virus, spybot, nor malware bytes/hijack this, BUT i found out what it was. The installer added an additional installation (i'm writing this post removal and cannot remember the name) that is come kind of "deals" executable. if you look at your control panel for programs and sort by installation date, you should see a program installed very close to the neverwinter launcher. Remove it, and you should correct the pop -ups and the links appearing on the launcher window.

Whatever is causing this issue it is not actually caused by the game.
The game does not install any ads or pop-up generators. People are not saying this to defend the game or the company but because this issue truly is not caused by the game.
You may have adware or malware installed on your computer which could proc upon the launcher startup but this is something which would have been pre-existing on the computer or installed by a different source altogether. Please scan for malware and viruses.
I use this too and it's really good , I mainly use it for the turbo boost and the other computer cleaning services , for my main anti virus I use AVG .

. . .It's more likely that one's PC/Browser is infected (probably a toolbar) and it is using the Launcher's call to IE to provide pop-ups. I've never had pop-ups from the browser on any of the many machines I've installed any PWE & Cryptic Games on and I run a tight ship, keeping things all nice and clean and tidy. Using Norton Internet Security with a Hardware Firewall also. I also do regular scans and cleanings with CCleaner and HiJackThis.

lol, yep... I'd format and restart myself.
I have the exact same problem.
Is that correct?

I ran malwarebytes earlier, and then a few other things.
Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work.
All well.
Thanks for the quick response!

Sounds like a definite adware/malware browser plugin/search engine replacement of some sort.
Perhaps Dingo Deals??

I personally use Iobit Advanced System Care and Iobit Malware Fighter to clean such software off my computer but take that recommendation with a grain of salt.
