In certain areas, especially back in Protector's Enclave, following any tells, says, guild chat, I'm finding impossible.
The text simply scrolls off the screen too quickly.
Even when it settles down a bit, I like to keep a side eye on anything that pops up in that second text window I've created rather than try and follow any color text I've changed within the single window available.
In almost all other MMO's I've played, due to a guild being important to me, I've always created a second chat window, for personal chat. say/tell/party/guild etc.
ATM, I've been trying to make do with just one window, accept it for what it is, but it's getting beyond frustrating now that I'm in a guild trying to follow conversation.
So requesting please, when you get the chance, let me/us be able to drag out the windows and have as many open at one time as we like.
Thank you.

You already can.
Press the gear icon in the top right of the chat box and you can make a large number of custom chats to suit your friend's and your needs.
The possibilities are nearly limitless. Play around with the features a bit.

New tabs aren't the same thing as new windows, which is what the OP is referring to. I've spent the last few minutes trying to move them around and all you can do is change the order they appear within the single pane using your methodology.

I missed the last line.
This is in the wrong section then...
And now it's not.
I like the idea. It'd be nice to have.
Not sure on feasibility though.

. . . . . I'd really like to be able to have an additional chat window bay. I like to keep my system messages and combat messages in their own windows yet in another window bay so I can also see my chat channels. This has been something that I have wanted in all of Crytpic's games for as long as I can remember.

Yeah...nope...I didn't read the last line which changed the meaning behind the entire post haha.
Yeah I just have my own chat channel dedicated to my absolute cares.
I'm not keen on removing the logs from view...
But my friends and surroundings > logs.
Currently my big regret is that zone has been turned off. Most players are using it as the default chat so I end up missing a lot of people trying to talk to me directly I'm sure...
But zone chat is 99% annoying hindrances to me ATM.

In all Crytpic's games this isn't possible. Oh boy, this isn't looking good. It's been like the neighbours dog barking constantly and I'm simply pretending it doesn't/isn't bothering me.
With a lot of games I also have usually 3 windows open at the same time, on different parts of the screen. One of them also being combat, but with the quite visual in your face damage numbers exploding out of the mobs, I'm happy for this info to be there as a tab option if i need to look over the history, but defently not chat.
I enjoy mmo's cause I can bond and get the feeling of being apart of a community. i find this extremely difficult when all info is scrolling ever so quickly in one window. I just find it weird that it hasnt the option as it can't be difficult to bring into the game. With such a great HUD adjustment option...... /shrug
To make my window the way I would like to have my main window, I would have to shut myself off to the surrounding community, which I simply never want to do.

I find zone chat about 60% annoying hehe. But when I get the chance, I do like to help people with their questions, cause there are sure a lot of new people about and a lot of question to ask. also sometimes the conversations can be quite amusing, give me that community feeling I was mentioning. So I really don't want to disable this part of the game.
Ah darn... I was hoping to find a solution to the problem of only having a single chat window. I normally have whispers separated into their own window so I never miss any, and also I have an additional one for custom chat channels.
Sure I could create a tab for the same purpose, however they don't flash or do anything to show me there has been a new text message in a tab I have currently not active.
Managing text is awfull and nearly impossible when I am roleplaying. Messages just run all over me the moment I join a roleplaying hub, if so many text sources have to be stuffed into a single tab because there is no other way of keeping an eye on them.
I know that I am not getting used to only having one window available. I can live with it, but it is going to be a major annoyance to the end. Hopefully they'll add features to improve overall chat experience to a point where it stops being a pain to keep track of things.

You sound just like me.
I spent 3 days trying hard not to disable zone chat but I couldn't. It was just too awful.
I'm hoping within a month or so I can turn it on without zone chat ruining my enjoyment of the game. I love helping people and have always tried to remain accessible to players in every game I have played.
Like I said it's a regret/sad reallity kind of a deal to me. I feel I was forced into turning off zone chat by the players using it. And I promise you it takes a lot to "force" me to do something I don't want to do!
Hopefully separate windows can be added at some point. It's a great idea!

I came here looking to see if there was a way to add extra chat windows too. It's incredibly disappointing that Cryptic have gone backwards in terms of Chat UI since City of Heroes.

This is also a shocking bad piece of UI. How they haven't got a highlight to show that a tab has had some activity in, I don't know.
