Hey Adventurers!
EXP here; we downed Chartilifax last night on the EXPTV livestream, and I figured some of you might like to take a look at the
VOD. I've complied the experience into a strategy guide on Corsual, too, so if you're looking for a more in-depth run down on the encounter,
take a read.
Cheers,

It's surprising to me how few people, even in the entry epics, want to ignore the adds and just try to tank and spank the boss.

Look forward to my long campaigns and short stories in the foundry upon release.

Good job on the kill and all, but it seems kind of useless to post strategies for the normal mode since you went there with your guildmates who were level 37, 37, 35, 34, you had 1 guildmate who was level 30, but he was on adds anyway and was a Trickster Rogue who has great Single Target damage, your group was well balanced for this fight: 2 Trickster Rogues on Adds, 1 tank focused on the boss, CW focused on Boss+ CC'ing adds + damaging when needed and ofc a Cleric.
If you managed to do this with random players who you do not communicate with other than typing and not a perfect group setup, then i would recognize the feat of hard labour. The problem with this Dungeon is not the difficulty really, it is that it doesnt seem to be made for the intent to allow 5 random players who are leveling and not carring about eachother to actually do this encounter, especially not when the level requirement for joining it is as low as 30, getting stuck with GWF's in your group at that level is devastating to the overall damage done since GWF's are HAMSTER untill they hit 40+ (after 40+ they rock tho hehe), and it just seems really overtuned for a normal dungeon for leveling-content.
Would i want it nerfed myself? yes, why? because it is leveling content, not end-game content, when im leveling my alts i dont want to waste 45 minutes leaving my party because i notice that they dont know how to play the game yet because they are either to new and still earning their classes or they are maby to young/dont have the right mindset to play these kind of games ("Relax it's just a game" comes to mind, yea like i enjoy wiping cause you dont know how to freakin dodge). Ofc an obvious reply will probably be : Dude, just go with your guild, well it's not all that often taht you have 5 guildmates or even 4 that are in the same level-range and wanting to do the dungeon.
Anyway i think you did a great job downing him and you deserved the kill
Which is to say: I don't think is this meant for everyone to do. I think it's meant for people who want to kill a dragon, who want to experience a challenge in a video game without waiting 60 levels for it. The strategy guide I've posted is to help those people, should they need it.
Just know that I do feel you; I never PUG dungeons for this reason. If I die because you can't dodge, we're going to have issues.
Thanks all the same, though.
One of you new followers here.
While I'm at work (here in the U.S.) and I find myself craving some gaming, I pop into your stream. And even if I'm just "listening" while I work, it makes the day go faster. Thanks for being there!
AND for all of you looking for a fix when the servers are down, I recommend watching some of his vids. Pretty *&^#ing entertaining, in my humble opinion.
Tank - Mark the dragon and keep it on the dragon and build some overhead threat. After threat is established, draw the dragon breath attack, the dragon spit attack, away from the group by rotating while engaging imp adds. Taunt adds off cleric if cleric is in trouble. Taunt the 70% and 30% adds that spawn if the dps fails to split them, focus them, or they attack the cleric. You should still have aggro on the dragon if you're using mark properly and have threat powers slotted (mark).
Thief or any dps - Ideally focus fire the hellspawn casters. Since this didn't happen, just make sure enough dps is killing the adds and imps. Imps do a lot of damage to any class since they come from behind. At 70% and 30% they should prioritize the 4 guards (and later 4 mages at 30%). Focus fire kills off the 5 bar mobs fast. One thief should rotate on the imps to get rid of them. If the hellfire witches are still alive, ignore them.
Cleric - Heal the dps. The tank doesn't need heals unless they are performing poorly. The only time the tank will need heals is when he is forced to taunt the 70% and 30% adds that spawn. Stop standing in the AOEs.
The main thing is just not to tunnel vision on the dragon and pretty much any group should make it though.
Cheers
PS I'm a cc focus CW who specialises in locking down adds so that may have had an impact.
Thank you, Kadlena! That's wonderful to hear; I definitely try to make the show as 'listen-to-able' as possible, knowing that many people are working or playing themselves during the show - great to hear that it's working!
Thanks again; hope to group with you in Neverwinter soon!
Sounds like a good strat, dude! Good to hear it can be PUG'd! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I think the overall quality of the players has more to do with this fight than the actual strategy behind it, but from what I've been hearing, it's still an incredibly hard fight for most groups.
