I know that Cryptic is great about character customization, but... in lots of games you can plan only muscular characters, or just fit. I wonder if we will be allowed to play fat character, or really skinny, with some deformities. In other words: not perfect.
crytic normally give you sliders on different body parts to set your height and weight to how you want, although im not sure you will get the ability to make a monstrously bulbous blob of a person, but you probably be ale to make a fat fighter.
as for deformities, i can imagine a missing eye or some scars but again im not sure it will go much past that.

I want my character to look like a player character, not a player.
STO is plagued by that sad issue, as the STO customization is better suited to creating different humanoid species rather than creating different people. If you're making an human, each sex has 1 asian and 1 caucasian-looking template and then sliders.
...and I end up thinking, looking at the humans, that they facially look very much the same except that one guy with have darker skin and a beard, another guy will be paler with bloated lips and a big nose. Basically, you can see a family resemblance, and it really irks me.
If they had more than two base template (Aion, for example, has a LOT in addition to sliders) then your character customization becomes somewhat greater, and then your sliders have even greater value on top of that.
I would like some customization so I can make a semi balding mage with a bit of a beer guy and a beard. Who ever heard of muscular mages unless they were elves. We mages spend hours in lamp lite rooms eating cheese off the wheel and the exercise we get is going to the restroom.

What I don't like is how in WoW my toons forarm was bigger round than my upper leg (200 lb male) or how in DA all the woman had DD....equipment. I like modesty in my toons which a lot of game designers always go for the Mr Universe build or a woman's package is where 90% of her weight is at.
And please don't go the skimpy female armor route where a guys gaunlets had more armor that an entire female's suit of armor.

What!? Blasphemy! Chainmail bikini is the traditional outfit for female adventurer. Don't fight the tradition.
...I just realized I've nothing substantial to add to this conversation. Other than that I agree with requested customization features. Sometimes it's nice to play a character that is less than ideal even if I usually don't.
Personally, I hope the customizer has a TON of freedom. While I agree that the humanoid sliders in STO are somewhat limited, the alien slider is quite the opposite. Maybe NW doesn't need all that, but at least a portion of it would be welcome.
I noticed that Elven and Half-Elven males are just ugly...most beautiful races of The Realms are so...ugly here. Half-Elven's mandible is like Neanderthal's one...Another thing is Males buttocks...yes I know it can't be a HAMSTER game but maybe a little anatomically corection? Where did they saw a males with wooden plank on their butt? They never forget to make a good female's HAMSTER...Im a girl and I would like to see nice guys as well

Part of the issue is the base models they use. A low poly count model will not look as good as a medium poly count. Second is the level of graphics card/driver they designed for. Since they probably designed for a mid-level card, so more users could play without lag, they cannot do some the the small fixing tweaks in the textures needed to make a low-poly model look good.
Another issue is how much customization data is being pushed to the clients. Do you really want to wait for all the on-line players' toon data to be pushed to you or are you willing to accept base models/colors with limited mods so that the needed data to display the toon is small?

Half elf males are just hideous, especially from the profile. I don't know what they were thinking. Elf males are slightly better, but still rather ugly. For some reason elf male lips slider is locked so that they always have really thin and cruel looking thin lips. Not pretty. Also, many males have horrible jutting jaws, half orcs and half-elves being the worst. I can understand that half orcs are not supposed to look pretty, but they look just ridiculous.
Interestingly enough, I was playing with the Foundry, and there are more customisation options there. I managed to create a good looking elf male and a good looking half orc male. The lip slider actually dis something, and there was a slider to adjust that horrible jutting jaw. It is frustrating to know that the engine actually has the potential for better looking characters and we just cannot access them.
If any developers are reading this, please consider bringing some of those Foundry options to the regular character creation. I understand that some sliders need to be limited to stop people just making mutant freaks, but currently the option are too limited. Especially consider expanding the range of lip fullness slider (particularly on elf males) as well as giving us jaw jut slider.
(BTW, is there a way to save character looks into a separate file like in Star Trek Online?)
You can adjust your height a little by extending or shortening the legs in the customization tab. There is also a choice between 3 dif size bodys in general as well one of which is a fatter person. One is a fit person and I forget the other one.
Hope this helps. Enjoy the game
I'm gonna rip your head off and make it my puppet! (NwN2)

Star Trek had decent character customisation, even though it too had its issues. As Neverwinter is a newer game, I expected customisation to be better than in ST; instead it is much worse. Frankly, that was quite a disappointment.

Na, I play as someone less than perfect in real life. It's not much fun to be honest!
I think I'll have to give up on this game. I have tried for two days create a character look I like. It just can't be done. I'm dismayed how bad the character creator is in such a new game.

You go back a Generation further, to Champions Online, the Customization increases further. In their next game everybody gets an identical stick figure!

Yep nothing like taking a fat Cleric with you...then offering him up at the first sign of Troll, Ogre or any other Humanoid munching beastie.
