You are right, perma cc from wizards is totally broken. Anyone with some experience in pvp and a bit of common sense understands that. Its actually really funny that some ppl try to defend it. From what ive seen most of the community realizes that its broken. Hopefully Cryptic will fix it soon.

People who cry for nerfs in the first days of a games release and claim that "most of the community" support their opinion are not the people with "experience in pvp".

I am tempted to say what I think they are, but don't want to get banned from the forums.

Ummmm use dodge? If you time it right (i.e. see wizard casting) the attack misses....

You do know you can break out of CC using your dodge, teleport , etc. This game is all about using your stamina, if you are getting CCed all the time and die its your own fault for not getting out of there or going directly after the CW to prevent him for sitting back there casting. I think people are so use to playing other mmos they done understand realtime dodge. If you read above like others have said just watch for the CC and click your dodge.

There needs to be diminishing returns on CC in pvp, a wizard can CC someone to death while the whole team beats on you without you having a chance to run or fight back.

    Oh lets play!

Ok I want to see a nerf to rogue stealth, increase the stealth timers for all stealth abilities in pvp, or better yet any damage mitigation abilities that the rogue has can be the nerf fodder instead of stealth.

Control wizards are exactly that...control. If its ok for rogues to run around like damage juggernauts then its ok for wizards to control the hell out of a battlefield.

LOL, the game has only been launched for a day and a half, relax. Just like every single MMO they will come around to class fixes, i rather them work on the wrold fixes and crashes first before anyhting

I agree. As it states on the website the game is in OPEN BETA. It is not a fully finished games so tweaking will be done. Just feel lucky that the devs are awesome enough to let everyone play the BETA unlike a lot of games that are not playable until release day.

I have played in many mmos and am usually amongst the calls to nerf cc. Not so in this game. I have delved into pvp and find the cc in this game pleasantly surprising. No CC lasts longer than about 2 seconds as far as ive seen. CC in pvp is much shorter than in pve which is as it should be. I am a CW and I alone CANNOT lock someone down. It is easy to dodge my attacks and rogues with any talent at all can get behind me to strike if they want to.

I have not been witness to chain stuns. All CC effects seem to ware off pretty fast. So far I do not feel that CC has to change at all. I think they have struck a good balance between control and skill. Do not change a thing. Let the baddies whine about having to use a modicum of skill in pvp rather than forcing the devs to give them free kills.

I played a few pvp matches where I went up against a lot control wizards (3-4 out of the 5 team members) and I thought it was bad too. However although I felt like I would get crushed personally when I was cc'd I found we always won the game easily. I don't think a lot of control wizards actually makes your team win.

Just commented on basically the same thread. CW's are balanced in a sense that they require a team to kill something. While yes, they do damage and they can keep you cc'd for a while, they're not going to be able to kill a TR solo, for example.

The PvP is obviously in a stone-age sort of state, while polishing may be needed, the balance in my opinion is near perfect.

This topic has a lot of biased players in it.

What you guys need to realize is that PvP does not revolve around 1vs1 fights.
PvP matches in Neverwinter are 5vs5 - that means you have 4 allies to back you up.

When you argue that a wizard can disable you, it's not because the wizard is overpowered (OP) but because you failed to play with tactics. The wizards main goal is to disable as many as possible players while HIS allies bash their heads in.

It's pretty normal that you cant just hold the left-mousebutton and watch him explode into smithereens.
If you can not live with that, you might want to re-consider the genre you are playing. Because this is an MMO, not a singleplayer game that makes you the ULTIMATE HERO.

Kinda sad that this has to be explained.

Had once pvp against 2 wizards + 1 devoted cleric and some others, it was 5v5. But we couldn't do anything about the stunlocking >.> those control powers should have an cooldown on players.. i only could use daily, and that was almost all damage i could do.

Using Line of Sight, Flanking, Stealth, GF Shield block... another wizard... DODGE!

These are just some of the techniques that can be used to take out a wizard. There might be more, but for whatever reason I can only think of two actual stuns that wizards can do... Which is odd since I only play a wizard.

The cooldown on these stuns are like 12 seconds or so. And takes 1-2 seconds to actually cast. Entangling Force tabbed lasts only 4 seconds? and Ice shard (I forgot the name, sorry, not an ice mage) only lasts 2 seconds. So you are only "stun locked" for 6 seconds. Then you have a full 6 seconds +2 second cast time to react.

Disclaimer - Not all numbers and figures may be completely accurate has I have not used a stop watch and only use approximations.

The best way to counter a wizard in PvP is another wizard, or group up. I play a wizard, and yes 1 v 1 I can be dangerous, if I'm not stunlocked by a rogue constantly, but it definitely can be countered with team work. CC is subpar in PvE as it is, so I hope it's not nerfed for the sake of PvP.

Shame I can not find any CW that actully do CC in a dungeon. They keep making counters harder by fling mobs all around a room because they want to be a striker and not a controller. While I do agree with you. Classes should not be nerfed or buffed because of a tacked on PVP system. This game is 99% pve and 1% pvp. Look at what happiened with the great weapon fighter when the devs listened to the 1% pvp players.
