lol 3 servers.. and to make things worse they were handing out passes like M & M s and advertising everywhere
NOTE TO CRYPTIC
SPend some of the millions you got from the founders on 5 more servers,, would only cost like 8-10 grand
and less on advertising a game that cannot be entered into let alone played
someone should so get fired for the load calcs on this launch..
4000 people per server at most,, so like 10 servers MINIMUM
DUH
The three Neverwinter shards are made up of hundreds of actual server machines. The issues today were due to some failed network equipment, not the servers running the game.
The first day of open beta for a highly anticipated and massively advertised game is having hardware issues!? That's unheard of!
Seriously, these kinds of issues happen with every mmo launch that gets any kind of notice, I don't understand how people can still expect flawless launch days.

Considering Forbes published an article today about Neverwinter, that like just added a bazillion people to the game.
There will eventually only be one "server". Think of them as gates or doors, not so much like WoW servers. Cryptic's technology is more advanced (the way it is structured) and more flexible -- and personally, I think it is more user-friendly, too, because there won't ever be dead servers.
Queues are normal. WoW had them, SW:TOR (many times the budget than NW does) -- I waited 7 hours during headstart, and eventually would wake up early, join the queue, and go back to bed --, Rift did as well. If anything, the queues for Neverwinter were short in comparison.

just wait a day as you should know by now with every mmo - and since this is free to play, rather wait 2-3 days until you can try your FREE game (did i mention its free?)...

. . . . . Closing this down, we don't need this type of dissent on the forums. The issues are being worked on and there are threads stickied for the major issues. There is no need for the continued creation of multiple threads anyway.

I wish I had someone to play my video games with, but sadly, everyone I know have different taste in games.
Just wondering how you came up to that $ conclusion?
