Well there is a guild contenst going on. If you kill Chartillfax (world first) in elite mode (lvl 60 dungeon) you can win some prizes from PerfectWorld including a signed letter from the devs and some other stuff from logitech. This was posted on facebook at last for the french and german sites:
That I don't really mind as it's a group effort and the elite modes will require team work to get done, but good luck to those guilds that get that done
Thats great and all for them, but I see people like that all the time and then I hear them complain there is nothing to do. Sure there is, you just didn't read any of it or pay attention to it as you slammed through levels, its the difference between sitting down and enjoying a good meal or just slamming a bunch of food as fast as you can without taking the times to savor each bite.
I am an old school gamer, started on a Tandy CoCo Color Computer with a black and white monitor, when they first came out with tape cassette drives. Stating playing Dungeons and Dragons at the table in the 80's and while I am only 38.. I still enjoy taking my time. Played 9 years of WoW, raided and all that jazz but I do my own pace for me, myself and I because I don't ever want to be some one who just rushes through life and gaming, missing the experience.
I then also say, it would be more easy to understand why they were proud of 60 cap, did they share what they were trying to accomplish was it only to get to 60 or to some other end?

Congrats. Sucks getting to 60, on early access to "OPEN BETA". No offense, do as you will. But logically it doesn't make sense. You can't pvp, you can't pve. You just sit back and twiddle your thumbs until you have people to play with. I'm just like WHY!?!?
He spent a ton of cash on the Zen Store to burn through his professions. So pretty much he wasted over 500+euro in one evening .... and he never even got a happy ending! *wink, wink*

I honestly didn't think someone would get to 60 in the first night. But grats to him i suppose, even if he did waste a lot of money without really enjoying the content of the game itself.
Oh I'm a gamer from the 90's as well and indeed things have become a lot easier because people are getting small attention spans. It's why I love my Korean MMOs cos you can't hit max level in 24, it takes you a year. However it's the guys money at the end of the day. I myself spent 245euro on the game (HotN and GoN founder pack) cos I want to support Cryptic with the development of the game.
But since WoW many people want to rush all the way through the game to be the first to be the max level as if it's a real world life achievement, unfortunately it's not, cos it's the interwebs after all xD
But the gaming industry will never change because the gamers themselves will never change, they will just become worse over time.
Here's a look into the future......First quest....Powergamer X , We have had a problem with the Fire Back Hogs destroying our farm land...I need you to go thin the population out a bit...When you have killed 10 come back and see me ...I'll give you a reward !...Powergamer X finds the Fire Back Hogs....Draws weapon....Targets Hog...Hits Hog...1/10 Fire Back Hogs Killed...Congratulations on Level 60!!!...YEAH I WIN!!!!
To each their own I suppose. I do not begrudge people who do this, nor am I jealous. This person played the game they wanted to. It is not how I would play the game, I would rather take things slow and enjoy it, but meh, grats I guess.
I agree! Plus, the game does not end at max level!

Yeah I hate that they added that feature where that if you hit level cap on day one you can't ever roll an alt.
Cold fusion exists, they just don't want to do it cos half of the world countries would go bankrupt in a matter of moments. Cure of cancer has probably been found, but again companies would loss out on billions of dollars in pills they sell to people on a daily basis.
World peace will never happen while humans are still alive on the planet.
All this is true cos the little man in my head told me so!
Oh wow look an idiot who knows absolutely nothing about what he's talking about.

^ this.
I just miss the old days when it was about enjoying the ride, making friends, being social, helping people. Now days its just a bunch of self-centered kids trying to show off something they only they think is cool.
Hitting level 60 is far from an accomplishment. I takes practically no time to reach the level. I am extremely well off and I can't get why someone would spend money to level to 60 when it takes maybe 40-50 hours. I've played 13 hours and hit level 30, crafting on two professions to level 4.
I can understand hitting max fast, but paying for it.
Is there any chance he just leveled up almost normally while trying to keep crafting maxed so he could, ya know, HAVE CRAFTING MAXED? I'm wondering. As others have said leveling is already pretty fast in this game. Makes me wonder why crafting even gives xp
Kinda surprised at all the hostility considering how good this community has been in general, hope they enjoyed hitting level 60 first and I hope they continue to support the game in the future.
Games these days need people willing to spend money, stop trying to poo-poo them or you may find games you enjoy no longer get made...
They already 'no longer get made'.
The entire market has been reduced to these rush to max level and then grind gear upgrades to be able to grind more gear upgrades.

I know man, I know. My first character in EverQuest (Lasteran, Cleric, Maelin Starpyre Server) took me 4 years...YEARS to get to max level with enough AA's to start PoP progression. It took me almost another year to be able to raid Plane of Time A and B.
I made friends in that game that I still talk to today. Hell, I went to one of their weddings a few months back. We get on Skype and can recount hilarious encounters we had all the way back in 1999 and 2000 because it was so epic and memorable.
Games like EverQuest just do not get made anymore. Don't get me wrong, I am having a blast with Neverwinter. As you can tell by my forum title I paid big bucks to support the game...but it will never be as epic as EverQuest. Gamers today just want as many "purples" as they can get as fast as they can get them. It isn't about community or friendships or memories. Its about having the new shiney.
I've got my eye on EverQuest Next but for now I'm happy playing Neverwinter with a small group of RL friends.
Different people have fun differently, guys. The beauty of a social game like Neverwinter is we can all have fun differently TOGETHER.
In the first 29 hours after launch, my guild ran the gamut from several people who played five characters up to level 6-10, to people like me who got our main to 17 and did a lot of Foundry content along the way, to the awesome solo powerlevel to 60 of Megladong. And we did it while talking to each other, giving advice, helping each other out; everybody was having fun. Differently, but together.
Don't get upset when somebody has fun differently near you; congratulate them and then go have your own fun!
Some people are going to go spend 28 continuous hours writing awesome Foundry epics; others are going to power a character to 60. Both are adding to the game, not subtracting from it!

But don't forget before they implemented things like AA it wasn't taking years to hit max level. Months maybe... but not years. I started playing in December of 99 and had hit 50 (the max level at the time -Hushpaw, Legacy of Steel, Nameless Server) by maybe April of 2000 and I was an incredibly SLOW leveler. Doing most of my leveling in groups (in EQ group exp was penalized and split among group members).
I am not justifying hitting max in a day... I just think your memories of EQ are a bit sparkly from nostalgia.
That being said... yea I do keep in touch with friends made in EQ too.

So many jelly responses in this thread, it's weird. Every other post seems to be "Well congratulations on ruining your experience. You must be so happy that you have no life to be able to hit max level first."
WTF guys? He figured out a super-fast way to hit max level. Nothing wrong with that. I do think it's a bit of a waste of money, but the people who are playing now already put down 200$ for access, so it's not really that big of stretch imo.

Don't forget the "OMG! Please don't let me die!" hell levels. I remember those days when everything was difficult. Heck even the UI was a royal PITA. =D But I still also have friends I talk to from those days. I think for the most part too is that it was new and no one had a true idea what they were doing in the first months or year. lol (Caewin, Tower of Hate, Bertoxxulous Server)
Everyone is allowed to play the game their way and that is cool with me. But like some it is kind of frustrating when they powerlevel through and then a month or months later complain there is nothing to do.

Why is it he "wasted" 500+ euros? Did he feel remorse after spending the cash? Did he spend a ton of money only to find out someone else beat him by 15 seconds? Just because you (or I for that matter) don't want to do this doesn't mean it was a waste for the guy that did. He obviously knew exactly what he was doing. It is no different than someone spending a load of cash on an expensive meal, a bad bet at the casino (which probably comes with remorse), or even a happy ending. In the end he got what he wanted, and I ended up with someone spending some cash that will go towards development of future content for the game. Win win I guess.

This is NOT a comment on right or wrong here. But if you think someone or a group of someones doing something this out of the ordinary in an MMO doesn't effect you then you are VERY naive.

Yeah nice waste of money, you spent what 800 euro's on buying in-game currency and then craft, not counting in the cash for the game..
But grats!
Think of all those f2p people who don't want to pay a single cent for this game. I wonder how many of those people he singlehandedly paid for.
Grats on the 60 btw, pretty interesting it can be done mostly through trade skills.

Think of it this way guys...
He paid a good chunk of money to support the developers of the game you may like.
The game isn't over at max level and since there's not raiding in Neverwinter, there's really no advantage to hitting 60 that quick.
Grats to him and rushing to 60, but a player leveling to 60 the normal way would benefit your character more.
