Is there a rule against multiple accounts?

Are there any rules preventing multiple accounts being played on a single IP? I don't mean simultaneously/multi-boxing, i just mean having multiple accounts logged in at separate times. If this isnt against the rules whats to stop people from having a large number of free accounts and invoking daily to get the weekly reward and sending all of them to the primary account? I feel like this could be a huge issue especially as it relates to gold farming. It seems like it would be incredibly easy for gold farmers to spam free accounts only to get celestial coffers each week and pooling and selling all the astral diamonds they get.

I don't think there are any rules against having multiple accounts.

My brother and sister would be highly irritated if they couldn't play because I am playing ;)

I'm not sure how those issues are being handled but there's no rule against it however you would at least need different e-mail addresses to create multiple accounts.

Well then how are they going to stop gold farmers from ruining the economy in this game? It will be incredibly easy for them to bot or just manually invoke on TONS of accounts to get tons of astral diamonds and there is no way to stop it because they aren't investing any money to create said accounts since its a F2P game.

    Don't worry about it.

The devs have thought of ways of taking care of that. :P

Altho I agree I think/hope the devs have found a good way to counter this issue.....but we really do not know so it is a guess. Like with many questions... I detailed posts with some info would sure be nice.
Either way goldfarmers have never really effected my gameing much. But I sure do not want it to happen. As far as multi accounts.. theres no limit or rule no. I have 4 accounts. 3 are Hotn and one is Guardian. my Gf and best friends and I are more then ready to rock n roll come open beta. See ya all in game. !

If there is, I haven't been warned and I have had a handful of accounts for a couple years now with Cryptic. I even have had two with Perfect World for some time prior to them buying Cryptic and never had an issue. I only play two accounts regularily, but I do think I have 5 or 6 total and they are aware of it. Its even been mentioned in past bug reports on issues in STO, so I'd have figured they'd have hollered at me a couple years ago if it were. More so now even, considering.

The thing that would be illegal is automated tasks and programs to bot for you that do not need a human present to perform actions. This latter would surely violate the ToS and ELUA.

There are in-game methods to quickly, with two clicks, to either ignore a user or report them for spam. The latter will automatically ignore them as well. On the forums, we mods are vigilant in keeping Spam off the forums and we are aided in this by some awesome magical spam prevention "technology," as the awesome devs call it.

Regarding multiple accounts as it pertains to farming:

First thing's first: Invoking doesn't give you anything that is transferable except for Astral Diamonds (and only once every few invocations). Everything else is either temporary or bound.

Second: the only possible way to transfer Astral Diamonds to any other player is through the AD Exchange.

Finally: Invoking once an hour at most for the reward you receive makes it completely inefficient to even attempt "farming" with that system, even if it were automated through bots.

I don't think it will be a concern to be, ummm, concerned about. The same happens is STO. WAY BACK in the first couple months of STO I remember seeing zone spammers trying to advertise and sell whatever the currency was back then (before Dilithium) - people just abuse-reported them. Haven't seen anything of the sort since and that was three years ago.

The point is if anyone starts that nonsense in NWO: 1) it will be an obvious scam and 2) they'll be abuse-reported out of the universe and onto their behinds.

Seriously: don't even give it a thought.

Gold farming is unlikely to occur in this game because astral diamond farming is so slow compared to just buying zen. What this means is that even gold farmers can not make enough money to be worth their while.

    There might be gold farmers.

Astral diamonds will be hard to get but there might be people who can farm gold.

I can see websites selling 1 gold for like $10. And there will be people who will pay for it.

Thats sad. I mean that really isn't much to buy with gold.
Open the Launcher. Click Options near the top. Check Disable on-demand patching. This will download another couple of gigs.

Agreed, all the big-ticket items are either Zen or AD - gold only buys basic mounts (which appear to be quite affordable) and consumables.

So I don't see a 'market' for gold in this game.

Yep, gold is mostly useless and invoking will net you 500-3000 AD per day. My average was 8k over 3 days lol.

Some seemed to think that AD gained via invoking was relative to accomplishments in that hour, but who knows :)

I have a separate account I did past betas on. When I remembered my old Cryptic info and tried to merge my old Cryptic account wi
the my PW one, the only solution offered to me was "make a new account." Since their support team offers it as a suggestion/solution I don't think it would be frowned upon.

Now that I already have two accounts, I guess I would use one as a spare bank or mobile item transfer or something.

On the subject of AD farming/selling, wouldn't someone be able to use the Trading Post?
"Put up a potion for XXXXXXXXX AD, our representatives will buy the item for you."

I see this being big for players trading AD across characters, assuming you can see who the person selling the item is. I didn't explore that in depth.

There is a 10% surcharge I think, so not the best for AD xfer

Multi accounts can indeed be useful for alts/bag and bank space, and quick item shuffling

Really don't know how easy it would be to powerlevel your alts with main account though. Alt accounts will also be behind, as you won't have them for headstart :p

Like the previous poster said most people use multi accounts for alts and space for items ... no rule against it will be made since STO is like this atm and nearly all the games out there ..

I would probably make other user for just playing with all the classes, mostly if a group of friends want to play a specific class I could go switch to the class we need and no problem :P

I'm pretty sure there'll be a lot of people using multi-accounts to upvote their own Foundry quests.
