Timeout During Login

I cannot log back into the game with the character I've been playing as for the whole day. I had to leave the computer for more than 15 minutes so the game took me out. When I try to get back in with the character, it says 'Timeout during login.' I then try to log in with a different character, and it still gives me the same thing.

And half the time, it does it when retrieving the character list.

    I think this is what Cryptic was looking for when they wanted so many people to log in, to check stability issues.

    It's been about 4 hours since it started though and no replies from them on this or the other thread about the same issue.

    I'm having the same issue. There's no warning showed now -- just login in, get the character selection screen... select character. Game looks like it is loading, time passes -- time passes -- and then I am returned back to the login w/ username and password screen.

    Have rebooted just to make sure it is not my end. All other internet connections fine. Must be stress test then?

    Can the admins confirm? Thank you.

    I was on fine all day, but now (6 pm eastern) I can't login. Times out or hangs on the "retrieving list of characters"

    I even got in once to see I had "0 of 1 character available" and an active Foundry button (clicking the foundry button gave me a "character creation failed" message)

    i'm also having this same issue and as the OP i had it happen prior to character select and after selecting a character too i sent them a bug on it and i hope that will be of some use for all of us =)

    Get back from work (yes we work on saturdays here in Spain) and I miss the Crash the servers event because I can't log in. I think I can say goodbye to the reward when it gets released.

    I too am having this problem. I have gotten as far as Seeing my character and clicking Enter World... then after about a minute it just goes back to the login screen... guess i will just have to wait til tonight and see what happens...

    i too am having this issue, and the odd time i do get into the character select my list is empty, can't delete a character to free up a slot when none show :\

    Same issue here! Can we get some offical word on this? Is everyone not able to log in!?

    I'm getting the same message. select character and enter and then....timeout error. Any updates?

    Having the same problem and got a reply for the amazing support people:
    "We are aware of an issue that is causing players to be unable to log in presently.

    Our combined awesome during the Crash the Shard event has caused a bit of a hiccup- our Engineers are working on bringing this back up shortly."

    Same issue, get to 'retrieving list of characters' then it times out back to log in screen, when it does get beyond that I get '0 of 2 characters' when I have 3 characters and 5 slots. Was playing for a few hours and wanted to switch characters when this started happening. Glad to hear they're working on it.

    It's a Stress-Test weekend. They want a bazillion people to log in so that they can see what happens to the servers under stress. 9 times out of 10 the first problem you'll find on a stress-test is that you can't log-in, either because the servers are full or the Log-in servers can't handle the influx of new people. But that's what this test is designed to do, so that (hopefully) this doesn't happen on launch.

    Now getting a "Shard is locked" message, so something is happening!

    Actually guys if you look on the launcher it says "We are performing maintenance from 15:20pst to 15:50pst." which is now. So that's probably why no one can log in. Go take a break for half an hour and come back :)

    Me too - Getting "Shard is locked" message after I was able to get in but seeing '0' characters to choose..... /crying softly in a corner

    They will have the servers back up in about 20 minutes....Just posted on login screen!!!
