PvP (instanced) will be something that likely only gets better, I hope.
Hopefully, also, the Foundry could be used to create amazing PvP arenas. That will be a huge plus for this game.
Pug-vs-Pre - no need for fancy stuff to begin with, but eventually things like 'tourny' and segregated queues or ultimately putting that all in the players hands to play at the level they want to compete at. I think you could just have a list and see who your intrested in fighting and even select the level through a interface (no hidden queues here).
So I hope they don't try to make the queue a mystery.. I think making all the information available in a semi-raw state for the players to themselves help manage, would be ideal.
I think the real challenge is to just see if PvP is fun, class builds are good and there is lots of importance with specific builds to give the players as much options to choose from as possible (to a certain degree).
Building amazing arenas and spending lots of effort in that I think won't be worth it until the community starts dictating that that will be need to be improved.
Other things like rewards will also be very important.
Foundry-made PvP arenas will ensure game longeveity forsure though.
