What Race Will You Play?

meldrothmeldroth Member Posts: 137 Bounty Hunter

I saw a poll about what race people think will be the most popular. Asking which race they will play will hopefully give us a better idea!

Personally, I will play an elf raised by Drow and known as the White Drow. Yeah, that's kind of weird, I know, but I had to explain an elven Rogue somehow!

The poll in my thread is exactly your poll. ;) Thread name is a bit confusing though, but it combined the two.

I made a skrill payment without account. Mind you, it only worked in internet explorer not in google chrome.

EDIT: What the hell. It posted in an entirely diffrent thread?

    I really don't know yet and don't have a main either :/

For now I voted Half-Orc as one of the fighter roles which I will play. Once the Warlock becomes available, I will be a Tiefling.

//edit: before the first beta weekend and during the weekend, I started a rogue and didn't like it. That would have been a Drow. I do like mostly how the fighter class is implemented so far :)

Ha, yes. But your poll asked people which race they thought would be most popular, not which race would they play. :)

So far, looks like the Drow fears are fairly well founded, if 13 people are any indication...

I am suddenly realizing why they're restricting the drow race for two months after launch.

It would break immersion pretty quick to log in and see 400 Drrizts.

My first character will be a Human Ranger, because no Fantasy MMO developer would be stupid enough to launch a fantasy MMO - a DnD one, no less - without a Ranger.

    Oh, wait....

Well, then I guess I'm going to have to make him a Human Two-Weapon Fighter, since no DnD MMO would be worth playing without the ability for a Fighter to have two weapons at the same time.

    Oh, wait....

Why is it that almost every other MMO out there in the fantasy genre will have more DnD in it than DnD's newest MMO?

That's not why they're restricting it. They know it'll be popular, and will drive sales of HotN packs.

That's probably what I'll have to do - Dwarf GWF, since nothing else available at launch is going to hold any interest for me.

I'm debating whether I'll roll a half-elf cleric or a tiefling guardian fighter. I'll probably go with the former.

NOPE! Halfing with dark skin and white hair riding on a spider will be my ultimate creation. I'm guessing the animations will look off too so I can finally roleplay as a drider!!!

Psst. It's very likely Archer Ranger will be one of the launch classes. All the data resources are already in the game. I feel there a bunch more features they are waiting to reveal.

The five launch classes are already announced, and Ranger wasn't one of them.

wait..what's the fifth again? i only knew wizard, rogue, fighter and clerik? also the only four i could find on neverwinter-online.com? been away for some days, but looks like i missed out on some exciting new!?

Anyway, I'm gonna lay a wizard(sorceress) elf, if the ranger doesn't turn up at launch.

EDIT: ahh theres a guardian and a GW fighter right!?

    Best regards:

Well, they also said Brawny Rogue was going to be the first post-launch class, and there isn't even any Brawny Rogue resources in the game. While they Archer and Warlock are almost completely finished in the game-data. And there's still more than a month to go before launch. That suggests the Archer and Warlock might still be launch classes.

Dwarf. I like playing dwarf cause they are awesome and they are shorter so you can see past them to the items on the ground or the person in front of you that you want to click/talk to. Also, I like beards and I hope to have one magnificent beard for my dwarf guardian probably, or a dwarf warlock if warlocks come out at launch (even if its a store purchase).

did they say all classes will be available to all races? i admit im not too knowledgeable on DnD specifically but a dwarf warlock doesnt quite sound right. look at Bobcat over here. can you really see a fellow like this commanding armies of the dead and casting plagues on people? more likely to just sort of... liquor them up and have a few jollies...

Because it's hard to read all of the DnD rules to make a proper game when you have $ in front of your eyes. $ $

Except that's not necessarily true either, because not even HotN get access to regular Drow. just the brown ones.

There are albino drow called szarkai. They are highly valued among the drow because they can pass for a surface elf and are used as spies.
