Astral diamonds: Balance reset on release?

We need an official announcement for at least times they will for sure be resetting game account data.

The reason is the 750,000 astral diamonds. I wan't to make sure I spend them wisely if I wont be getting them back. I know they don't know for sure when they will stop resetting accounts, but we need to know when they will reset them for sure. That way we can have fun with our astral diamonds.

Btw off topic in first post... Official statement on if we can post our guild recruiting threads in this section. I've seen 3 guilds do it already.

Headstart Access - Get headstart access to Neverwinter. Start playing 5 days before everyone else for Open Beta.

One can make the logical assumption that since the headstart access is for open beta, open beta will smoothly transition into release without a wipe. If this was not the case then said headstart would make no sense because most players would not want to have a headstart only to have that headstart erased by a wipe. I suppose it is possible to grant a headstart for open beta, do a wipe, and then also grant a headstart for release, but that is... stupid.

So, the only real question that remains now is whether there will be a wipe between the end of closed beta and the beginning of open beta. It was stated they have not yet decided but, personally, I am planning for them to do a wipe after closed beta and would be fairly surprised if they did not. However, like I said, that is a personal assumption of mine.

Your best bet until you hear otherwise, if you are the cautious sort, is to spend your Astral Diamonds like they will not be reset.

I also read another Mod post that was very difinitive in saying that anything you buy in beta with the diamonds will carry over to the live game.

There is a section for Guild recruitment. Even if someone wanted to use it as "But for beta we need...", then

End result is you will not have to worry about not keeping things in the live game.
I will warn you, though, since we haven't had any confirmation on wipes to not buy items only because you expect a wipe.

Play the game as if there was no wipes. This will give the best test feedback as well as ensure you don't throw away all 750,000 AD (if they are given to you pre-wipe) with the expectation of it not mattering.

that would prevent people from testing out stuff you buy with diamonds, making it not the brightest idea for testing

Yes, or purchase things that you know will always be useful, like additional bank space or character slots - it is difficult to regret those types of purchases. I would definitely stay away from anything that offers a temporary bonus, like an experience booster. Then again, even if there was no wipe I would never waste money on things like that. Any purchase that is not permanent seems like folly to me.

Yah the HCG one is meant more as a statement than recruiting, a note, I said joining has to be done on the guild recruitment one.

and like I said in another thread if a problem arises from this the mods may edit or delete the thread up in here, and I would not mind.

Ok, here is the answer until Cryptic says whether or not there will be a wipe during the Closed or Open Beta.

Everything you buy in the Founder's Pack will carry into the game. If the game is wiped then you will be reimbursed any items you lost.
However they will not confirm or deny a wipe at this time.

This means that if they do not wipe and you spent all 750K Astral Diamonds you spent it. That is my warning to you until Cryptic decides to give more information on the late Beta Stages. Your Astrals Diamonds will be on your account at game launch either as actual Astral Diamonds or items/perks on your already existing accounts.

Clear?
Sadly that is the best answer I think you all are going to get for the moment because Cryptic will not even tell the mods whether or not there will be a wipe at any phase.

I have always liked it when a beta with secondary currency gives you a "test version" of the currency to test with. It will not carry over to the full game thus perfect for testing, also the things you "buy" would be bought as a "test version" and would get deleted before live game. Thus you do not loose any "real" secondary currency or items, and still get to test it and the shop the currency uses.

Edit: Treat like it's carrying over into live so if you spend it it's gone. IF there's a wipe it should be reset when the packet was first obtained. This is the updated info I got

clear, dont spend diamonds til launch, but do pass it on to the higherups, not testing diamond store/purchases could spell trouble at
launch.
I was and still do expect a full wipe even of open beta, and our accounts including diamonds would be reset to their un-used state for early access, as that would allow us to go nuts with everything in beta to push the mechanics.

Not considering Closed beta different from Open Beta....

So if I spend 100,000 Astral Diamonds on potions (any kind, doesn't matter) and there is a wipe before Early Access, I start Early Access with 650,000 Astral Diamonds and tons of potions (or whatever is left of those potions). Is that correct? Because if there is a wipe... do I understand that my first character during Early Access gets those potions? (autospawn, bank...) So we get the purchases made during beta despite losing the characters that made them?

And if I made different purchases with different characters that, obviously, are going to be killed on the wipe (talk about Spellplague!) then do all the purchases appear for the first character? @_@

If I reach level 60*, open my super chest for rare weapon and the wipe comes... I keep the weapon for my first character? Or only Astral Diamonds related stuff is kept despite wipes?

Seems pretty clear to me. Who cares about cash items in closed beta anyway. Still it's good that we got that straightened out. Thanks for the replies Mr Mods

I'm not so sure what is hard to understand. At this point I'm starting to feel like a broken record haha.

If they do wipe the game you will be given the Founders Pack like it was never used.
If they don't wipe the game you keep the items/perks you already purchased/consumed.

Either way your stuff will carry into the live game.
I simply warn you not to be careless expecting an unconfirmed wipe.

Is there a way this could be written any clearer because I am truly at a loss as to what is so confusing?

I don't think I will spend any astral diamonds in the beta. A player wipe is too unclear, we might learn more once we are actually playing the beta. Instead I'll be researching what will be the best purchases to make according to your character. On my list of priorities for the beta, astral diamonds are very far down the list.

*shrugs* All i was pointing out was that betatesting their stores in regards to astral diamonds, to me atleast, seems the point of testing, having no info on wipes or not is what prompted my questions, but i shall be saving my diamonds for early access.

With the founders pack you get 750,000 Astral Diamonds. If i happen to use for example 100,000 Astral diamonds during beta will i start the official one with 750,000 Astral Diamonds again or will i just have 650,000 left?

i thought someone said any items or things you get will carry over to the final game but im not sure how they will do that without saving charecters. an offical announcement would be nice.

Assuming we can use certain items from the founder's pack with beta, then it is extremely unlikely that we would lose any items due to beta. They would have to come out with a statement this week stating that astral diamonds used in beta are deducted from the live game which would not go over well. More likely, you have 750,000 astral diamonds in beta to use and 750,000 astral diamonds to use in the live game.

I would say the 750k diamonds is for live. They usually give everyone a heap of monies or make items cost 0 in beta so we can test everything.
