Neverwinter
My one true concession to big name games is Cryptic's Neverwinter. It is, without any equal, my most anticipated title for 2013. There are many reasons why, most of which you can read in my
inaugural column devoted to the game. I won’t rehash what’s already been said. Still, Neverwinter has the chance to be something new and different and precedent-setting on the MMO scene. There are those who say that Perfect World Entertainment will “butcher” it and those who whimper about the “watered down” 4th Edition rules but, naysayers aside, there is no question that all eyes are on Neverwinter and on Cryptic Studios. As with all MMOs these days, Cryptic will have one chance to make the right impression and I am so glad that the launch of Neverwinter was delayed to give the team and the game the time needed to fulfill its own potential. Only time will truly tell, of course, but my money is squarely on Neverwinter to end up in the top games of 2013 when that time of year rolls around again.

I think it would be wiser for marketing to highlight some other unique fact too - like RP in game etc That way they won't have all eggs in one basket.
Yes the foundry, Cryptic is very unique in regards to UGC and many developers will be watching how NW's foundry turns out.
D&D has always had a major following, if not by active PnPers then by it's name alone. When people here D&D your avg gamer will see what's going on.
Forgotten Realms....Forgotten Realms. That place many, many... many hold dear to their hearts and any game that takes place there will certainly attract an interested crowd.
But I really don't think people are rating NW highly though. It's certainly on their radar but many are very cautious. MMO after MMO after MMO that led to disappointment has made many skeptical. Then there is Cryptic's past performance with City of Heroes or whatever and STO. I think people will be watching and seeing what becomes of NW but not zealot hypetrain like GW2 was or any highly anticipated MMO.
2013 looks pretty bleak for themepark MMOs, there's NW... and NW. Wild Star and ESO are the only other options IF they get released in 2013. Everything else is either sandbox or PvP centric MMOs.
Well hopefully not by the people who did BG:EE. If the romance or the new char dialogue is anyway a preview of what quality of game they would produce if left to actually create a game and not just tweak an age old classic then I would say I'm not impressed. The Neera dialogues were incredibly bland and lacked and sort of depth or character development. Was hoping for something close to what was seen in BG2 in regards to character dialogue but was totally disappointed. Can't believe they used that corny HAMSTER "Give me some sugar, baby" as a dialogue choice with Neera's romance, case and point how much they are disconnected to what made BG series the legacy that it is.
That's why. On the nose, that's why.

chuckling to myself as i carve the words "Neverwinter" and "Anticipation" into my forearm with a rusty spoon.
Oh! You forgot to notice the baby rust monster on your shoulder. It saved you from injury
It is a nice pet.
Not as disturbing as it should have been because I somewhat share the sentiment!
OOOOOoooo ive always wanted a pet!!! I shall call him rusty! PAH see what i did there.
If I was you mnatic, I would get vaccinated ASAP for tetanus... Rusty "tools" can be quite hazardous to carve work of art on human bodies...
My 2 cents...
What He said .......
Really the only game that is looking like a must have for me this year
Then join it and improve the membership. You could start by not making insulting generalizations about other people.
I didn't insult any one personally, i said it was a nice write up but i still hold to what i said. That site is a cesspit of negativity from members and mods, don't believe me then go to the Neverwinter forum on that site. And yes i was a member of that site a few years ago but since then it's gone way down hill.
I don't know if the devs of this game pay mmmorpg.com to push their game but that don't change what the sites about.
There is more misinformation about Neverwinter than information, her article is very spot on - on the things that will interest a D&D fan while at the same time being cautious. Afterall, its f2p, so its not like you will get burned so nothing wrong with trying, but she is correct when she says this game has big shoes to fill.
I agree with everything she said, this game has got giant boots to fill. But yeah i suppose i went off topic for a moment but il stand by what i said though.
Perhaps ill start a thread in the OT forum about cesspit gaming site.;)
