I'm guessing it will be a ranged Rogue. I'm all for the Ranger class don't get me wrong but from all the sources I've read it sounds like Neverwinter is launching with 4 classes (and their varients.)

It is incorrect - source the devs.
They have already confirmed - Guardian FIghter, 2 handed fighter, Devoted cleric, Tri Rog, Cont mage - and they have told us that there are more classes they have beelined for at launch. These more classes can be anywhere from just 2 - over9000!

Which is why I said 'and their variants.' From everything we have heard there will be 4 classes: Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, and Rogue. They will each have multiple builds: ie. Guardian Fighter and GW Fighter. So far we haven't heard much about Rangers, Paladins, and other classes however.

The reason for that rumor is unfounded. That is because when the game was co-op, the plans were to release basic classes - which are Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Ranger and Rogue. [which is not 4 but 5]. Later we were told they were having some problem with ranger - this happened in 2011 or 2012(early) I think. After that we were told that old info is outdated and there would be many more classes and races available at launch.
Hence the people spreading the rumor are intentionally trying to harm the game - maybe because game turned to MMO from Co-op (as such threads were common at that time) - or they are using some info which has been outdated centuries ago and using it unintentionally.
Hence spreading and believing such unbased rumor is not a healthy practice.
Now, this heresay may turn out to be true if Beeshbha has blessed this game and devs have sold their sold to Asmodeus. But being a follower of Lady of Hope - Selune, I cannot believe there is even a chance it will come true.
We don't have enough information and this is just speculation. All I was saying is that my guess is that it is an Archery build for Rogues not the Ranger class. I could be wrong.
Maybe there will be every class from all 3 4e player handbooks at launch. We don't know.
"What greater weapon is there than to turn an enemy to your cause? To use their own knowledge against them?"
I really don't think it is an Archery rogue as the rogue of the group is in front of the chest picking the lock or at least opening it, but let's hope they are picking the lock.
IMHO I think it is a ranger of some sort....
click the link look at the screenshots and look at #2 and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Yes, and they showed the rogue using daggers for attack in trailer video. So it makes less sense why rogue would carry a "longbow" it is not naturally proficient in and not just use daggers.
Oh! So we got confirmation of ranger! Is it still in works(as in post launch) or are you considering it putting during launch(like a class you won't launch without)?
But i swear to asmodeous if you force us to have a pet with a ranger class, i will pelt you with tuna.
Please no pets or at least make them option with optional build.
Thanks
P.S I am only so passionate as one of my mains and guild leader is a ranger.

If you search for my post discussing about not all users have their titles working...he's for real, since I can talk about him since he publicly discusses who he is.
And regarding both the Two weapon fighter AND ranger class confirmed (okay almost confirmed for the later) in one day....are we allowed to use the term nerdgasm?

Judging from what devs and past posts, I believe each class will be pretty specialised, ie each class is the end build already and you just get tinker with it with feats and paragons paths, as such you will likely get different types of ranger, archer ranger say and beast ranger (not sure exact class names) and likely a dual weapon ranger. This will be similar for all classes I expect eventually.

You forgot about the feats devs take:- insightful reflexes, evasion, improved evasion, special dev evasion, uncanny dodge, trap sense ... etc etc etc.
So no, he has not confirmed it but cleverly "implied" it without confirming it.

While it may (very well) be an Archer Ranger, it could also be the ranged version of a Trickster or Scoundrel Rogue.
I sincerely hope it's the ranger, though. Being shipped with 5 classes (and i hope paladin too, since people really like the class concept) could be a lifesaver for this game.

Pffttt.... check out the sticky answer by devs, post #69. that one is NPC ranger but that is not what we are talking about here. Ranger is in the works.
Oh my, some of these screen shots look so beautiful. Makes me even more excised for the game!
Yeah and honestly, seeing the game being played even in Alpha at Gencon was jaw dropping....the videos don't do this game anywhere near justice.
As for the archer class...I'm so incredibly excited about that....and it is so awesome to see PC's in traditional D&D armor and clothing and not banana suits or huge Final Fantasy swords.

Are you h2orat from CO?

I wish best of luck for your first pew pew class
Ranger has not been confirmed by him - just "in the works". All devs have got really dodgy build - a group of maximizing DEX ...
The dwarf in picture he said was NPC dusty who is ranger.
And I completely trust him to be h2orat - however, you may like to take his advice with a bit of salt until a mod confirms it.
