Never trust a Waterdhavian merchant claiming to sell authentic drow equipment.

it would be nice to use items "restored" from Luskan (stolen by them) against the pirates and other villainy.

Oh sure the ones that live by a code are fine as any mercenary are, but most of those Luskan ones...don't.
Touche matey!

I would die laughing if someone bought drow equipment and planned to use it on the surface world. Some items from Sembia would be cool though. And Harper items, I'd like that alot. And maybe something that can tell us what happened to them after Gauntlgrym. I want lore items!!! LOTS OF LORE ITEMS! Like what happened to Rivalen, Riven, Bregan D'aerthe after leaving Luskan, Geran, Hallistra, or Q'arlynd! I loved Q'arlynd. Went completely off-topic there, sorry. I love all the ideas though. Except the drow items from a surface merchant. I'll still laugh in your face till I die.

...that was the implied joke, yes.
I'm not sure if you caught it and are running with it or you mistook it for a serious suggestion

Bregan D'aerthe is still going strong as of the time of the last book, Kimmuriel is still acting leader and Jarlaxle is not confirmed as being dead.
:SPOILER: :SPOILER: :SPOILER: :SPOILER: :SPOILER:
You read Gauntlgrym yea? Cause at the end of it, Jarlaxle and Athrogate survived by getting in his portable hole. And yes Enygmasoul, I was running with it. :-D

I dunno, I'd wear the "Pointless Armor", if it had good stats. ;-)

Just a couple on my finger and on the top of my head, some memorable artifacts that lore could be based upon:
