Why is it the Guardian Fighter and not just Fighter from 4e?
Oh and where is my beta invite Stormy?

That looks like a really awesome and fun to use class.
It was really interesting to see a class spotlight like that. I think that video did a much better job describing the action combat system which is such a major part of this game than interview video's of the past.
Really cool. Hopefully we can see something similar on the rogue, cleric or other subsets as well :-D

love the video. looks like they have nailed the combat.
my only concern is the fact its a gaurdian fighter. i like the idea of being a fighter first and being able to pick your role via a telent/feat system or paragon paths. im a little unsure of the dnd ruleset these days but hopefully they can implement something resembling this into an action mmo

I am impressed watching that video on the movement and combat mechanics. The pace of the game seems just what I had hope for. Thanks Stormshade!
I enjoyed getting a new video, especially about a class in action and i can't wait to see more, although it is a good point of why guardian fighter instead of just fighter? I'm hoping it's just the choice made for demo reasons and not "that's the only type of fighter you get". Any way, nice to see the video and i'm looking forward to seeing more soon hopefully.

There is another great weapon fighter too. But the builds are per-decided afaik. There are a few threads in this forum which talk about speculation on that in detail.
They haven't yet demo-ed the GW fighter.
The trailer looks very promising - but please for the love of god - let users opt to turn off screen shaking! I have motion sickness myself and while I can play 3rd person mmos (can't play Quake, Doom or stuff) screen shaking will cause me some issues.

Agreed. Mortal Combat style shock (the shaking) and awe (the weapon sunburst animations) are too much for some, and will greatly diminish their playable game time for many others. I know it will affect my playable game time greatly (no way I can look at that for 4-6 hours, heck even 30 minutes would be a struggle). Shock and awe should be on sliders, and include both extremes, off to balls-to-the-wall.
As far as the game mechanics go, they look great. As some have stated however, defensive fighters are a niche style of play. Most fighters prefer the offensive side of the class. In other words, the great weapon fighter is what most will want to see.
Watching the video was great fun, and I think like most are just happy ANYTHING NEW has been released.
These class videos would have far more impact for me though if I already had the knowledge of the custom build process, so that I know I wont just be the same cookie cutter mold of every other fighter, or at least every other "guardian fighter".

heres to hoping they are the same class, just with different specs/feats. i would be a little dissapionted if they had 2 different versions of a fighter while potentially not havent enough time/money to add other iconic classes like the monk shaman and barbarian etc.
WHOAA ! I like this trailer alot !
1st of a new class, more variety which is good considering there will be lots of players with different classes.
2nd GAME PLAY ! Slashing, bashing i loved it its going to be really amazing and for sure i can say i will be able to leap in battle, cleave trought waves of enemies.....gods know how many mouses i will have to replace.
3rd Enviorment ! The enviorment looks great !It really looks like a medieval fantasy setting that i will sink myself in it for hours. Also is it me or a town where the guardian chopped some zombies looked abit like Ember or Port Last ?

looks great, i hope its just one of the builds for the fighter class and not a standard for the type, hope that each guardian fighter gets to choose there style of play and powers/skills.
Hopefully people will be able to spec their class/build in different ways like in Warhammer online or Skyrim. Having a pre-fixed level-up system would go dirctly against one of the things D&D is about - customization.
That aside, the video is actually surprisingly good. The combat seems very plausible compared to other MMO games, and even though I don't like the jagged rock animation connected to the daily ability or the shaking camera, I love how they have managed not to make it too cartoonish. I also like the animation for when the character rushed forward. In my imagination, this ability will allow for interesting tactical maneuvers (though it looses some of its uniqueness due to the rogues' and mages' ability to dodge and teleport around on the battlefield).
To sum up: being able to make a defender tank look interesting - now that's something.
Wonder when the trickster rogue and control wizard videos like this one are coming out?
