Wonderful Spider Temple (master)

I want to share my enthusiasm for "passing" this dungeon) for two weeks, a group of adventurers (equipment strength 75-78k) and I tried to pass it ... more than 50 attempts and not a single pass)) killed the first boss several times)) and that's all! what fat whales is this dungeon made for???!!! I want to remind you that the whole module is created around this dungeon! I expect that no more than 30% of the players will pass it and get a set of armor and jewelry! the complexity for the new module is too high! if you wanted to make a module for fat whales, then you succeeded! disgusting job!

50+ attempt is not uncommon. But don't do those on live server! Save your hard earned AD and train on preview.

All the gear you need to finish MToS can be obtained by just playing the game. For example by farming VOS, doing dragon hunts and occasionally visit the seal store. Chult masterwork is very cheap nowadays, here also nov"whaling" required.

The challenge with MToS is a different one: In boss fights, there is virtually no margin for error. Onevplayer dies, you wipe. Until you're good enough to solve math problems while doing MToS, follow these must have most essential never forget always on rules while learning the mechanics. They are simple enough, so even my gooy brain could hold them :)

    Boss 1
Tank 1. Keep yourself clear of barrels
Heal 1. Heal tank after tank buster
DPS 1. Mobs before boss 2. Save your stuff for bombs 3. No score chasing

    Boss 2
Tank 1. Avoid red line if you cant survive
    Heal 1. Heal heal heal
DPS 1. Save your stuff for ghosts 2. No score chasing

    Boss 3
Tank 1. Don't let boss face cocoon
    Heal 1. Heal heal heal
DPS 1. Save your stuff for cocoon 2. No score chasing

No matter what else you do, if you neglect any of these, there is most likely only one outcome:

You don't really need to do mToS to have (almost) BiS gear.

    * Most of the 2000IL gear have bad effects so you should use other gear anyways.
    * You get double stat companion gear without doing mToS. It has the same number of points, just split over two stats.

If you want the mToS artifact you can buy it off AH.

Basically the only thing you lose out on for not doing mToS is the 1-2 orange gear items you would actually use. No big deal, not worth the pain.

    And the rings?
Lescar PvE Wizard - Sir Garlic PvE Paladin
    Caturday Survivor
    Elemental Evil Survivor
    Undermontain Survivor
    Mod20 Combat rework Survivor
    Mod22 Refinement rework Survivor

And the spider belt item... I think you need to complete the dungeon to make it don't you?

1 clear, and gem dropping on that clear, to make the totem. 12 total to upgrade fully, saying that each clear it drops the gem, which it doesn't. Probably closer to 15 clears to get 12 gems, as it doesn't drop all the time at the end of the dungeon.

The Dragon hunter rings are on the same level, effect-wise. Just 400 IL lost.

Can you combine the totem with the Forgers box though? I think I saw somewhere you cannot. The forgers box is more or less the same.

You can't apply two of the same kind of buff at once. They're the same kind of buff.

As usual I find it hard to get into a MToS group being a Barbarian, its quite discriminatory ,no one wants a Barb, It isnt my fault that Barbs suck again. I am at 82K IL and have 5 stats capped at all times and I am usually the last man standing in dungeons that wipe, I am very survivable. That being said, nobody wants me, especially since MToS favors the range attackers. I truly wish there were other options to obtain the gems other than from MToS. The only things I want the gems for are the single stat companion gear. I am pretty well resigned that I will never get them being as how things are at this time. Any chance you could make the gems obtainable in some other fashion?

I was going to say that if you only want the single stat companion gear, then in theory you can get it from the surprise box in the campaign store. But now I can say that in practice you can, because yesterday I got one. It actually was a surprise!

Maybe treat it like Bel... something to do over and over and eventually it drops what you want. (Although I never did get a hound of the forge until they improved the drop rate!).

Some of us do value our sanity.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

What is a Mtos anyway? I call it the empty spider dungeon. I dont like the Northdark that much and now everyone is saying the blaspheme gear isn't that great so what is the point of walllowing with fungi then anyway?

  • I would like to point out that I have a 84k tank with max stats in Critical Avoidance, Defense and Awareness and with 1.3 mil HP and the first boss always one hit KO's my tank. Yeah, uh, devs, maybe balance the first boss out a bit so it isn't impossible for tanks that should be OP to handle the first boss as I am tired of being blamed for failing the boss when my tank should be able to handle it. By the way, it is not just me that is saying this but many other tanks are complaining about this in Neverwinter.

With the stats you describe you should be able to stay alive quite well, and with timed defense measures you should not even get a scratch, since most of the time the boss indicates when she is about to do a tank buster by turning around on the spot and pointing at somebody other than you. Assuming that you play Justicar (from your nickname), use whichever measure is available:

    A: Divine Champion + Block
B: Divine Protector + Block (given you have Shield of the Gods )
Add Absolution to the above to be even more safe.

In the following Templar's Wrath and Smite , whichever you prefer are not included. Vow of Enmity however is, since you definitely need it. Rotation on first boss for me looks like this:

    START PHASE
    Divine Champion
    Block
    TANK BUSTER
    --ARTI ARTI--
    Wait a sec for dps
Vow of Enmity to get back aggro from dps burst
    Oath Strike continously
    Occasionaly Block

    SPIDER PHASE
Vow of Enmity to aggro spiders
Alternate Oath Strike and Shielding Strike to hold aggro and replenish stamina from spider attacks
Watch for boss to indicate tank buster
    Divine Protector
    Block
    TANK BUSTER
Alternate Oath Strike and Shielding Strike to hold aggro and replenish stamina from spider attacks
Watch for boss to indicate tank buster
    Divine Champion
    Block
    TANK BUSTER

    eventually spiders gone

    CLONE PHASE
    Clones show up
Vow of Enmity to insta aggro clones
    Bombs possibly
    Oath Strike continously

    eventually clones gone

    BOSS SOLO PHASE
    Boss shows up
    Divine Protector
    Block
    TANK BUSTER
    --ARTI ARTI--
    Wait a sec for dps
Vow of Enmity to get back aggro from dps burst
    Oath Strike continously

    SPIDER PHASE
    a.s.o.

Dont forget to disable Divine Champion after tank buster :). This is a default rotation. If you have some big pewpew with you, spider and clone phases will likely overlap, and you might need to rely on Block only. In this case replenish stamina with Shielding Strike frequently when you're in no danger to loose aggro.

With a maxed 84k tank you really just need to get the timing on tank buster right, and the game helps you by indicating exactly that.

Its good to know that gear isn't a real necessity, that you get from the MToS because I still haven't found a group to play it with. Not even in my guild (hint to someone). The queue never appears when I try it that way. After reading all the comments here I don't feel so bad thanks!
