The Cost of Insignia Upgrade

I got curious and did the math on how much it would take to upgrade all 15 Insignias from Leghendary to Mythical. What I discovered amazed and disgusted me at the same time. It will take 37,500 Insignia to upgrade those 15 Legendary Insignias. You get a whopping 250 Insgnia Powder for that Rank 15 Insignia. which means you will have to purchase150 Legendary Insignias at 300,000 AD to provide the Insignia Powder to do the upgrade, that will cost you 45 Million Astral Diamonds. I'm not sure I have ever seen a money grab as rediculous as this. Way to go Craptic.

    Or be patient in collecting insignias to mulch.

    37500 insignia is right. You will pay 1000-1200 AD per insignia point, depending on your shopping habits. Green insignias are cheapest AD/insignia, but you will need a LOT of them. Using Legendary insignias to gain insignia points is rather expensive, but will be fast.

    Assuming 1000 AD/insignia point, you need 37.5M AD, which is 375 days of farming, minus whatever insignia points you get as drops and whatever you can gain from tradebars etc.

    I am sort of ok with that.

    There need to be some long term goals in game. You should not be able to complete the game in 6 months.

    now do the math on upgrading 5 x mount collars to Mythical with 5 supporting mounts at Mythical slotted in ..

    or a full stable bolster bonus of x 10 Mythical mounts + for only 4500 stats bonus

    or a full roster of Mythical companions for thier + companion bonus

    then the 15 x insignia upgrades costs/time will look like a short term goal in comparison LOL :D

    Cryptic needs to diversify the grind so that less things are tied to Astral Diamonds. Probably too late now, but instead of rewarding up to 100k AD for random queues, that amount could have been a little less and replaced with rewarding various upgrade mats (bound). The Reaper Challenge is, of course, one such example of this. The purely AD reward for new players has its weakness in that AD value continues to drop due to increasing supply, resulting in inflation of all the high demand upgrade materials (legendary empowerment stones, p/c wards, Insignias).

    if the grind is for items that cannot be bought with AD then people won't be able to calculate an AD value for it and freak out. Especially when the AD cost of these items have skyrocketed over time.

    Interesting perspective. I found the insignia grind rewarding. No complaints here. The good thing about insignia is that they are one of the few items that still sell, so we still have something we can farm and sell in the AH. The other good thing about insignias is that they are only useful for 4 places in the game, but only kinda necessary in 2 of them. Probably much bigger stuff to complain about than insignias to be fair.
